Would you happen to have any ideas for a cardio workout for me?

Mine wasn't a wearing down. Mine SNAPPED. I not only felt it, I HEARD it. I'd rather have labor and a baby again!!

It happened 3 years ago, was misdiagnosed until last August. Some treatment thru orthotics and chiropractic treatment, so I walk with less pain on an everyday basis, but still have pain daily.

Walking, running, elipitical machines are all out. Biking it out for the time being due to the length of time that it's been injured caused my whole left leg to go whacko. Hip joint and knee pain are part of the problem now too. I've tried swimming, but there's too much movement and caused extreme swelling.

The doctors say "lose weight" and it'll be all right. Problem is that I wasn't this heavy when it happened and I didn't start gaining until nearly a year after the injury. So I know the weight loss isn't going to cure it, but it will aid it.

I'm trying to lose the weight so I can have the surgery to fix it. It's min. 2-4 months of non weight bearing with a total of 9-12 months recovery time, so I want to be in the best shape possible beforehand.

I've started on the change of lifestyle eating habits and just started the weight training, but I really need the cardio to condition myself and really lose this weight. I need to lose around 60lbs. ANY ideas would be awesome and appreciated.

first you gotta be sure that your ankle is stable to do any form of workout. ankle brace/wrap/etc... i'd go see a doc find out what you can do about it now rehab wise and to ry to get it right.

I can't wrap it, it does no good. It's not the ankle, it's more in the foot. Unfortunately, the docs here are saying don't do the surgery etc. I don't see how I can't NOT have it.

With chiropractic adjustments and the orthotics I've regained some balance and strength, but I'm no where near where I should be. I'm only 39. Too young to be this darn old!! LOL

I HAVE to get this weight off in order for the docs to listen to me anymore.

i understand not doin surgury BUT they need to give yo usomethign ot strengthen it. a routine, small exercises, something! what i would suggest is that you find something EXTREMELY LOW IMPACT. if peddling doesn't huirt you i would HIGHLY suggest an airdyne. ride 20-40min a day at a comfortable pace to start.

They tried the physical therapy. That helped some. I did manage to ride the bike yesterday for 20 min and didn't feel much pain in the hip area, but when I got off the bike, I nearly collapsed. My left calf got soooo tight that I could not straighten out my leg. I did this exercise involving a foam roller and was able to stretch it out. I could walk after that...lol. That roller exercise is GOOD.

I'm so glad I got a trainer. He's taught me SO much more than the physical therapist did, and he was pretty good too. I WANT to have the surgery done. I can't go on for forty more years like this...actually, 60 years. I plan on living until I'm 100!!

I really want to start kickboxing again. That was so much fun.

Sex is a great cardio vascular exercise. Now for reals!!!
Ben hit it right on the spot. YOu need to do something EXTREAMELY LOW IMPACT or you will do more and worst damage to yourself.

If you are not going to your local gym GO! ask them if they have Airdyne machines if not go to the next. Any self respecting gym will have them. However, if you can not find them, you can do 20-40 minutes of cardio vascular circuit training on a stationary bike. Have someone that knows what they are doing to supervise your workout so you do not get injured. Do some very light strenght training for your anckles, calves, and shins. You can use a towel to put some resistance and pull with your foot.

You have to change everything you do. Your diet is 65% of what will determined how fast or slow you lose the weight. Drink lots of water, yes you will be in the bathroom a lot, but water is good for weight loss. Twice a week even if you are not doing anything and just surfing the net, wear sweats like you are trying to cut weight for a few hours, this will force your metabolism to increase and you will get used to it.
do not drive if you do not have to, ride a bike, walk in the park, walk your dog longer, clean the house again. This are very simple things that people take for granted in the lifestyle.

I know that you are very involved in your kids life, go to his workouts and walk up and down the pool and up and down the bleachers while he swims. Swim!!! Is a great low impact and anaerobic exercise. Watch what you eat, eliminate sugars as much as posible. Gatoraide has tons of suger if you need a flavored drink make crystal light. Watch you sodium intake, salt makes you retain water. Do not cook things from a can, try to fix your schedule to have time to cook your meals as fresh as posible, eat TONS of GREENS!!! Spinash (popeye knows best), lettuce, and any leaffy green that you like. This will increase your Alchaline in your diet and help you increase your metabolism.
