Obviously, he is old. Far out of his prime, does not punch like he did at Light-heavy. He did impress me by knocking Jirov out; although it appeared to be somewhat of a lucky blindside punch, after Jirov was dismantling him in the early rounds. He lost to a really old Foreman which was not impressive, and got knocked out 12 seconds into the 1st round against David Tua. Since then, he has been shelling out mediocre performances one after another.
My question is:
With the lack of depth in the heavyweight division, do you think he stands a chance at becoming the Heavyweight Champ again. Sounds like a complete stretch: And I do not think he can hang with the big punchers, and Heavies with stamina.
What are your thoughts?

I think Toney vs. Moore would be an entertaining fight if Toney beats Ruiz.

Left handed fighters in the Heavyweight Division are rare, and that much works to his advantage. But with a puncher like Moorer, and yes he still hits hard, you can not count out his ability to land a sneaky quick punch and take a fighter out. Do I think he will beat say a Klitschko - no, but will he beat a fighter like Mesi (if he ever fights again) I would say yes. I consider him as a gatekeeper of the second tier - even at his age...

The only beltholder I can see Moorer beating is Brewster, possibly Ruiz. I can't see him beating Byrd or Vitali.

Ruiz would be his best option i think. Not punch power coming back him and the southpaw jab might confuse Ruiz a little!

I don't think he will ever be heavyweight champ again because simply there are so many heavyweights that better.

Kimmy-You a fool, with Ruiz it doesnt matter if you southpaw or not he will hold you and you wont get to showcase your skills....The only people to beat Ruiz is David Tua power or Roy Jones footwork :)
If Moorer dropped about 15-20 pounds, I would increase his chance of being a top contender again. Really though none of the current heavyweights are hard hitters and usually break their opponents down with volumes of punches so I give Moorer a little more than a puncher chance especially with his glass chin, I dont think to many top heavies could break it.
But realistically he knocked out a guy who doesnt even belong at heavyweight and while Jirov went down, had he used his pro knowledge he should have taken a knee and then the fight probably would have went his way. He knocked out Jirov (the much smaller guy) because Jirov wasnt thinking and was excited to get back at him.
Moorer is way past his prime but still has a chance anyone does in the current mix.
