its pathetic, there is an alternative gym but its 7 miles away and you are not allowed to bring a car in your first year of Uni.
I want to go far in the sport but it seems like everything is holding me back

Anyone got this problem?

Can't you just explain your circumstance to your uni? I'm sure they'd understand.

i wish, but its strictly forbidden.

Also the gym is just crammed with people, and we tend to switch from partner to partner quickly which is good but not enough time.

Where i used to live it just wasnt so stuctured, if you wanted to spar someone you did. That said the coach always made sure you had a hard nights sparring session. It was no surprise they had the best fighters in their town.

lol dude, alternate gym 7 miles away. I rode a bike 4 days a week 10 + miles there and back when I was 12 yrs old. And my bike sucked balls, barely worked. Not exactly a tough obstacle is it.

no, i have competed before.
They want us to compete but dont want hard sparring, the coach thinks its dangerous. Makes no sense at all

Dude, go to the gym 7 miles away

Ride your bike, or run there

If you really want it, you will make the sacrifice to get there

Bro I am at uni. The university boxing is ****. Just light sparring as you say and full of people wanting to do boxercise. Then they say they want fights next month based on that training. I go to a local gym in a taxi there and back which costs about £20 p/w. Meaning bare money to live from. If you really want it you will go to the local boxing gym otherwise you have no right to complain.

7 miles? I wish my gym was that close. I'm 15 miles away and find a way to get there 6 days a week.

Find somebody who wants to go hard and partner up.

If you both agree to a brawl there is no reason for anyone else to care.

if the gym is for newbies then yeah no hard sparring, because the trainer is right it is dangerous, wild punching, haymaker throwing punches will cause dislocated shoulders,so be patient when you are ready[if ever]they will allow hard sparring:boxing:
