View Full Version : Better Duo

Who's the better hip-hop duo? Is it Snoop D-O-Double G and Dr. Dre? Or is it Guru and DJ Premier?

My personal vote goes to Guru and Premier...and that's strictly basing it on the fact that Primo is the best producer EVER.

If you're talking about Deathrow Snoop and Dre then I'll say those two are better. I never really got into Gangstarr too much. They have some good tracks but I never really been a big fan and I agree that Premier is one of the best producers ever.

ive always liked mobb deep but prodigy usually out shines havoc. but havoc is a solid producer i like his sound. i also like ghostface and raekwon on only built for cuban linx, they were like a tag team on that one.

I'd give Snoop & Dre the edge over Gangstarr just because of The Chronic album...

And while we're talking about duos, how about: DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, EPMD or Eric B & Rakim

Primo has completely MADE albums for rappers. Dre has done that a bit too, but not like Primo. Afu-Ra, Jeru, Group Home and most recently Pitch Black have all benefitted from Primo porducing their entire albums. Guru doesn't kill everything he's on and he often is outshined by his guest spots, but his rough, everyman voice gets the job done.

I was gonna give Havoc and Prodigy a mention but they aren't in the same league as these two. They are dope collectively but Havoc has nowhere near the resume of Primo as far as producing and Prodigy is nice but he's nothing special IMO. Havocs sound has grown on me a lot though.

If I had to think of two rappers who enjoyed most as a duo it'd be Nas and AZ. They compliment each other way too well and really need to do more **** together.

Eric B and Rakim also deserve a nod...but they didn't stay together long enough. Primo and Guru have been doing it since the late 80's/early 90's. Rakim is god on the mic but Primo is god on the 1's & 2's.

I have always said that these three should come out with an album. Every song they have been on together was good.

Snoop and Dre hands down. Guru and Primo are great no doubt, but Snoop and Dre revolutionized Hip-Hop.

I mean, that certainly can't be the only reason they are better. I guess I'm biased because I hold Primo in such high regard. He revolutionized the way samples and scratching were used on tracks. In terms of producing I don't think anyone touches him.

Sometimes I don't understand how exactly Dre and Snoop revolutionized hip hop. I've read a lot about it and have had a good deal of back and forth banter with other cats about it...but I don't really think they brought THAT much new **** to the table. My boy Philly tried explaining it to me but I was blazed and I didn't really listen to what he said at the time. Snoop had his own distinct voice, but his rhymestyle wasn't really anything new. I loved The Chronic, but they haven't done enough consistant **** together to make me think they are better than Gangstarr. I can't think of a wack joint that Gangstarr has put out, and if it is, its most likely because of Guru...not Primo.

When I put a disc into the "E" drive a box comes up automatically with the option to "rip"

Or you can go into Windows Media Player and find the Rip section between library and burn.

yousendit.com is pretty straightforward if you visit the site...
