the troubles I've had with my son...good news!!

His progress report came in today and he has no F's!!!! He actually had an A on it with only ONE D!!!! His GPA has come up, he has great citizenship grades and his teachers are proud of him and so am I!!!! His attitude has been great, although he took a nosedive recently and the problem was finally discovered and resolved, so he's doing awesome!!!

He's on the swim team and doing fantastic!!! Next meet? Tomorrow!!

I love having my son back. I missed the kid he always deep inside. :)

I also just want to thank you guys for listening to me when I was venting. Even if you questioned how I handled things, it was nice to know that you guys cared enough. Especially Purity. The guy who's a stranger now... ;)

Those are graet news!!!
I'm very happy to see that patience adn your love for your child are paying off the right way. This are the reasons why I try to keep faith.

Congrats on making the swim team. What is event? I used to swim back in Junior and High School. My events were 100 butterfly, 200 butterfly, 400 medley, and 100 and 400 freestyle.

Does he has any interest in trying out for the wrestling team?

Thanks guys!!!

We're somewhat concerned about him trying out for wrestling. With the history of a brain injury, most of the contact sports won't, or can't let him be on the team. Another head blow could make things worse. It is in his school and medical records. It saddens my heart because he wanted to try out for football and he's gonna be a BIG boy. Right now he's 5'10" @189 lbs. He's slimming down with swim and building MUSCLE big time in his upper body and abs. He's been sure to show that off to me...LOL. He still knows that I'm his mother and I can still take him down....hehehe.

In the last meet, his coach had him swim the 50 free (34 sec) and the 100 breast (1:55) and he also was put in the relay (freestyle). He won't know what he'll swim tomorrow until then. There are only 16 boys on the team, so they are all varsity. I told him if he letters, which he will unless he misses alot of practices/meets, I'll get him the jacket of his choice. His face lit up like a Christmas tree!!!! I think this one is gonna cost me....but I don't mind. He's wanted one for sometime since his sisters both have one.

My daughter swam the butterfly. It was her best stroke, better than her free. She has the build for the fly. I so wish she continued with it in college. She lives for the water. Swim or surf, either one keeps her calm.

Do you still swim at all?

I have just recently resumed swimming to lose my breasts. At first I could hardly swim enough to consider it cardio but I've built up to where I'm at least stinking afterwards. Does anyone know if treading water for 10 or 15 minutes burns an appreciable amount of calories?

My ... uh, little sister wants to know.

Only if you do eggbeaters while in there. My daughter played water polo and it's also a great way to build up your quads.

Just so your little sister knows. ;)

Wow I did not know about the head trauma. Yeah then it would not be a good thing. Specialy since most wrestlers are a bit cracked in the head to start with.

I do not swim anymore, which I do not like. I also tought water survival in the USMC, so I've always found my way to be around water. Eggbeaters are great for conditioning and legs. Also for cardio do a sprint from shallow to deep end then come back underwater all the way down to the bottom and come up at exaustion. Then dive down and up all the way back. If this is done on a 50 meter pool, you bet is a fuggin work out. But you will have the lungs of superman shortly after. Hint ***is a drill done at Navy/USMC dive school.***

I'm gonna tell Danny about that!! He wants to be a marine and we live right by a marine base. He'll work on that when his coach isn't driving him. He did a 1:34 for the 100 free today. He was also in the relays, but nothing else. He doesn't feel he did that good, but it's his first year in a long time and he wasn't in the best condition when he started. He's beefing up and slimming down, so he's happy about that.

The head truama is why he's had problems in school and with his frustration/temper control. Now that it's been "officially" diagnosed, he's gotten the help he's needed and improving so much. I cry as I type this because it's been such a hard road and now the kid inside of him is happy. Which makes me happy.

I have always said that Danny is a kid with a heart of gold, it's just covered in coal. All the mining that we've done is starting to pay off. :)

Egg beaters? What're those?
