CMS,

Sorry for putting sand in your grease (vaseline). Its not illegal to do what you are doing, we did something similar when we were young. I just want you to be carefull about it, you never know what can happen. Especially, if your using smaller than 16oz gloves. Safety first I guess is instilled with me from the refereeing.

Funny story if you would like to here it.

We were like 10-11 years old and we had 5 boys living in an area in rural michigan. It was the country. anyway, there was a shed at our house where there were found two mattresses. So we cleaned up the shed and layed the two matresses on the floor and got a bunch of string from the bails of hey in the other barn. So we had this little rascal type boxing ring concocted on one half of the shed, a large support beam stood in the midlle of the shed, holding up the ropes of the far ropes. We were out there slugging away on these 2 matresses holding tournaments and such. The gloves were 10 oz sugar ray leonard boxing gloves, ya know the good stuff.(LMFAO) Anyway I win a bout against the youngest kid when he begins crying, I was the next youngest so me and him were set to square. Then Ronnie had to box against steve and they got into a heated affair. Well steve got backed up against that support beam in the middle of the shed against the far ropes. Ronnie pops him in the face and his head snaps back. Sticking out of the support beam was a nail, that steve swiftly hits his head upon. an, he tripped out and came running after ronnie. Ronnie started running circles in the ring from him, and if you can imagine 2 matresses set up against eachother the ring was only like 7 x 7. So, unable to get away from him in that small ring. ronnie tears down the ropes on one side and bolts for the door. That was the end of our boxing ring.

Boxing is fun man, but just be carefull. I commend you on organizing your little league, I was much of the same ambition as you when I was younger. If we werent so far out in the country we probably would have had a bunch of kids involved. Once again, sorry if I dropped sand in your grease, just know what can happen in unsupervised boxing matches. Have fun dude and keep those gloves high and your head moving...........Rockin'

thats what me and my mates done a few weeks back i started an Anger thread about it wanting help. well we had 3 1 minute rounds but with no headgear it was pretty brutal, still no-one came out of it in a really bad state.

How did you end up doing? Were you effective without the anger?

i got past the first round quite easily the guy just swung aimlessly and i easily picked him off with jabs and solid straights. I got beat in the second round mainly beacause the guy i was boxing was far bigger height wise, and even though he had no technique unlike the first round i was getting hit a lot and ended up losing on decision. Still was an alright night but never again unless with proper headgear cause a solid punch to your face sure does shake you up a little.

Good stuff. I'm working on my slipping in the gym now. I also am getting hit to much. I have heavy hands but a poor sense of punch avoiding. Do you guys train in boxing or is it just you guys pounding on each other?

for the style of each fighter it would matter on wich fighter ur talkin about and who theyre fightin, say a big guy fights a small guy, hell try to over power him in a slug fest, but say that same big guy fights a bigger guy hell prob try to box him
