And why is he fighting such a young fighter compared to him? Is he gonna get that ass beat? I've only seen Robinson fight against Gatti once.

View Full Version : How many farewell bouts has Julio Cesar Chavez had? MetalVomit 03-22-2005, 01:07 PM And why is he fighting such a young fighter compared to him? Is he gonna get that ass beat? I've only seen Robinson fight against Gatti once. manila_assasin 03-22-2005, 01:12 PM As far as I know this is the first fight that he considered a "farewell" however this fight must bring in some excitement considering that Jcc is well not young anymore but he thinks he still got the flame. Fighting a much younger opponent. this must set some record. SacTown1 03-22-2005, 01:13 PM Robinson is WAY over the hill, even more-so than Chavez, but I'm sad to see either guy in a prizefight, Mighty Ivan never really cashed in after he beat Gatti & he should have retired after Antonio Diaz pummeled him....and Chavez should have quit after he DID cash in vs. Oscar in '96 to the tune of 8mil. mic573 03-22-2005, 02:56 PM Lately all of Chavez fights have been farewell bouts. I remember him saying that his last fight against Frankie Randell was going to be his last. He even had a fight in Mexico a few years ago that was supposed to be his last. += El Jefe=+ 03-22-2005, 03:03 PM And why is he fighting such a young fighter compared to him? Is he gonna get that ass beat? I've only seen Robinson fight against Gatti once. more than what he is supposed to. Kimmy 03-22-2005, 04:41 PM Robinson is past it but i think this is a stupid fight for Chavez to take. Robinson outboxes slow, old opponents for fun! This will be a one sided points win for Ivan Robinson! .::|ULTIMATE|::. 03-22-2005, 04:46 PM This fight with robinson would be the second farewell bout so far. By the way the real show that night will be Jesus "El Matador" Chavez vs Carlos "El Famoso" Hernandez. LOAk 03-22-2005, 05:33 PM can anybody tell me what Chavez's record looked like when he reached 70 fights... or what was his record when he had his first loss Dude was incredible. abdiel2k3 03-22-2005, 05:39 PM can anybody tell me what Chavez's record looked like when he reached 70 fights... or what was his record when he had his first loss Dude was incredible. heres his rec http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=008119 LOAk 03-22-2005, 05:43 PM heres his rec http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=008119 thanks bro damn thats even better than I thought I wont count the whitaker fight as a win though. but still........ oldgringo 03-22-2005, 05:49 PM thanks bro damn thats even better than I thought I wont count the whitaker fight as a win though. but still........ It wasn't a win. It was a draw that should read as an L in Chavez' record. LOAk 03-22-2005, 05:58 PM It wasn't a win. It was a draw that should read as an L in Chavez' record. Oh yeah youre right I forgot it was a draw yeah he definately lost that fight....Im pretty sure that fight was in Mexico or had mexican judges that gave him the draw....but hes still the man. PBDS 03-22-2005, 06:12 PM Oh yeah youre right I forgot it was a draw yeah he definately lost that fight....Im pretty sure that fight was in Mexico or had mexican judges that gave him the draw....but hes still the man. ...Yeah, but IMO that record is inflated with poor competition. and I think he may have been one of the most overated ever. He was sooooooo lucky in that Meldrick Taylor fight. .::|ULTIMATE|::. 03-22-2005, 06:24 PM ...Yeah, but IMO that record is inflated with poor competition. and I think he may have been one of the most overated ever. He was sooooooo lucky in that Meldrick Taylor fight. Yeah those lucky punches he landed on taylor throughout the whole fight that ended Taylor's career  mic573 03-22-2005, 06:46 PM I don't care what anybody says Chavez gave Taylor a beating in that fight. My scorecard was alot closer than what most people will say. Chavez consistently hit Taylor with the harder shots all night long while Taylor was throwing quick punches that weren't even landing at times. BadMagick 03-22-2005, 08:03 PM Hey! Boxrec changed their account of his fight with DLH. They said he didn't come out for round 9 before. They have it right now, though. I couldn't believe how fast and badly he got cut, though. He wasn't even hit with a shot you'd think would open someone's eye like that. Truth 03-22-2005, 08:14 PM I know I thought Chavez had already retired but I guess he hasn't had enough of the fight game yet. Or maybe he just needs money. the giant one 03-22-2005, 08:17 PM Its gotta be for money i think. JCC will beat a very shopworn Robinson in a boring decision or late TKO.JCC is well past his prime but Ivan is at brain damage stage of his career now Truth 03-22-2005, 08:22 PM Its gotta be for money i think. JCC will beat a very shopworn Robinson in a boring decision or late TKO.JCC is well past his prime but Ivan is at brain damage stage of his career now Now that I think about it, I agree with you JCC has to be fighting for the money at this point. :bling: automatik 03-22-2005, 08:23 PM hahahhaahhahah catskills23 Loser Truth 03-22-2005, 08:26 PM hahahhaahhahah catskills23 Loser That doesn't have to do with this topic :ugh: nsevaaetasi 03-27-2005, 10:51 PM Chavez in his prime would have ko'd De La Hoya. |
