View Full Version : Suckering your opponent into throwing the right hand to throw the Double Left Hook?
Boxing_Fan66 10-15-2009, 07:40 PM The reason I ask this question is that if your opponent is big into throwing right hands at you, if you can time him correctly, you can slip past the Cross and throw a Left Hook to the body, and a Left Hook to the Head (aka a Double Hook).
However, you have to bait him into throwing the right hand. So what ways are the best to get your opponent to throw the right hand? Just need some ideas.
And for boxers in here who like throwing the Double Left Hook, can you give me some tips and advice on what to look out for from an opponent and the best time to throw it? Thanks a lot.

I think the best combination to throw if someone is renowned for throwing right hands is............roll the right hand and as the opponents left arm goes past your shoulder nail him with the uppercut & left hook from the angles.
Jones does not slip outside the jab but its basically the same principal and combo. Jones throw the left hook before the uppercut though.

Baiting your opponent to throw the right? well what i would do is put my head foward closer to them to give them a target, however when they see the target and take the bait im already ready to pivot away to the left and when they fall in after missing you can nail them.

Circle towards his right hand, with your left down. Don' make it overly obvious you are trying to bait him though, just relax the position of your left a little, and circle lightly towards his right, when he throws it, slip and throw your double hook combo.
Be careful however, if the guy you are sparring/fighting is a guy with fast hands or has a real bang in his right hand, I personally wouldn't do it. Test him out first and judge if you have good enough reaction to slip his right, and that he doesnt have enough power to flatten you if he catches you.
Cuauhtémoc1520 10-16-2009, 09:36 AM Why not practice on countering the right hand with your own right hand followed by a left hook?
Throwing the double left hook is a good combo but takes a ton of practice and can be countered if you don't slip or don't keep the right hand by your chin.

I like your way the best, and it does make sense. Circling to the right and dropping your hand would make your opponent see your opening. Thanks!

How is that awkward????lol
The counter for a straight right, IS a right hand.
Landing the left hook is also a counter but is much more difficult.
simple, just batter him with a powerless jab contstantly. When you see he is throwing his right; you lean backwards and then do ya thing (left upper/hook, right hand, etc)
