View Full Version : Have you ever stepped into the Ring.
semjasa 09-26-2004, 06:50 AM Hey guys just wondering who in our community has ever laced on the gloves and stepped through the ropes into the Ring, and if you have, do you have a story about what hapened or anything in your boxing career that was funny worth talking about.
My funny story was fighting a guy 2 divisions above my weight class and about 6'taller than me, I had him down 5 times in 4 rounds, got ****y and got KTFO in round 5, I was sparked out for like a whole minute.
LuKahnLi 09-26-2004, 09:13 AM I have sparred before. Unfortunately, prior commitments (school, job) have kept me from training consistently as I would need to to compete myself.
semjasa 09-26-2004, 11:12 AM Its nice that some ppl in here have actually boxed, Im not intending to upset anyone but I will always respect the opinions of a fellow fighter, than just a fan, no disrespect intended to anyone.
Boxerdog 09-26-2004, 12:03 PM Gee you're AWFULLY nice! It's kinda sickening!
And yeah....I trained in the same Cincy gym as Aaron Pryor about 100 years ago. (about 35 years ago actually)

Unfortunately never between the ropes but I have been in quite a few street fights when I was growing up through Junior high school and early high school. I lived in a tough neighborhood in New York. I really wanted to get involved in the Golden Gloves organization but was too busy with other things and could never commit myself to it.
Eyeh8you 09-26-2004, 12:21 PM Boxed in the army. Funny thing I ever did was that me and this other kid were jawing at eachother befor the match and I was like i'm gonna go in there and tear his head off. Bell rings and I go run at him and slipped on a sweaty mat and popped my knee out. Man that fuker talk so much **** for like 3 week after that and not one punch was thrown. Im 28 now and am thinking about takin it up again as a hobby. I just neeed to find the right gym. :)

Rolf good story, a buddy of mine we were in Golden Gloves, he was called spider man coz he was like 6ft5 and like 147lbs man that dude looked ill, but boy was he fast, in his 2nd fight he got ko'd in like 20 secs, the punch was like a feather tap but he fell off balance and smacked his face on the canvas, man i musta hurt, but not as much as his pride.
burnerdafck 04-27-2010, 11:46 PM got my first stepped into the ring when i was 12 amateur fight in mexico city .. i;ve got a record of 15 - 0 in amateur contest then after my family got migrated to us after that im just a boxing fan like everybody else in this forum..
Ch@mpBox@PR 04-27-2010, 11:49 PM 2 Years ago I fought 2 Cans in the Ams. KO them both. But not because I was good, it was because they didnt knew howwww to box at all.
Had 47 fights, once in Glasgow the ref had to stop the fight because the other guy's mother kept trying to get in to the ring to kill me ! After the fight she tried to get in to the changing rooms to kill me again. Scottish women are bananas !
I boxed in highschool, I was pretty decent but I wasn't going to the olympics or anything.
SugarRayCurtain 04-28-2010, 12:13 AM had 1 fight and got ktfo
that was a white collar match (unlicensed) though and there were no headguards
ill be sure to be more successful in the ABA's (headguards and licensed) no doubt
geribeetus 04-28-2010, 12:26 AM lots of backyard boxing. nothing official.
i ruptured a friend's eardrum once, he's like 50 pounds lighter than me though. not exactly a big accomplishment. the left side of my jaw still hurts regularly after someone messed it up a little over a year ago. no idea what's wrong with it.
but other than an achy jaw and a messed up eardrum it was a lot of nothing. there was the occasional bloody nose, low blow, or headbutt at the most.
