Just found out this morning, my fight this evening will be against a guy who totally kicked my ass in sparring last year. Must say I'm a bit nervous... Mind you, I only been boxing for a few weeks at the time and now i'm a lot better technically.... still.. on top of that, whoever wins has another fight that same night against another guy who beat me last year. -.-

Stay confident, If you've been hitting the gym hard you'll be good.

Well that result is virtually meaningless, since you had only been boxing a few weeks at that time....

I remember when I was first starting out, before my first fight, I sparred some kid up in Boston who schooled me. That was the first time I was ever schooled like that. He kept countering my jab and instead of figuring out what to do I just got scared lol. I almost didn't want to fight after that sparring session he made me feel liek I wasn't ready.

Then for my 3rd fight, I fought that kid. Of course I was a little nervous but I knew I was a lot better at that point and he wasn't going to discourage me from punching like he had before in sparring. I ended up beating the kid pretty easy. Honestly the kid wasn't even that good, I dunno what happened in that sparring session lol.

But yea, I was nervous as hell lol. Always remember that if time had gone by and you got better, than the kid your fighting probably has too. Don't worry about past sparring sessions, fights, etc. Just go in there and do the best you can do.

According to your record in your signature, you have only 4 fights. So, the kid you are fighting is also in the JO's, which means he does not have much more experience then you. So, if you sparred him a year or so ago, after only working out 3 weeks(Barely knowing anything about boxing), you have probably been more active then him. I wouldn't worry about it at all. Don't stress on a sparring session you had when you just entered the gym a year ago, a lot can change in that time.

JOs doesn't go by how many fights. JOs are kids. 17 and up is Senior. Under his avatar it says he is 23, which would make him a Senior.

That is also his BET RECORD it says. Which is bets not an amateur record. And 4 fights would make him a novice, a senior novice.

That is what I meant, that he is a novice fighter, not open.

For some reason I thought I read it say "Best" record or something. Not exactly all there today. Head cold kicking my ass.

That was sparring brother! It will be in the back of his head that he got you in sparring and he will most likely fight you the same way. He can come in over confident. Have belief in your skills and your trainer. That was then this is now. Good luck man!
