It's our second language. It's taught from Elementary and used all throughout up to University. So a lot of people who went to school are fluent, those who didn't can converse and get their message across.
Honestly man, why does it surprise a lot of foreigners? The first time I got here in Canada, first thing I heard from a Canadian was... you can speak English?? I go WTF? lol.....

I hope you don't think I took offense, I honestly want to know why foreigners are surprised. I've asked my non-filipino friends and they can't seem to answer me straight. I really just want an honest opinion, so if you have one shoot it out.
Mostly I think it's when they show those documentaries or those adopt a child charity thing they do on Asian children on TV. All you see is how bad some people live and nothing else... well, just my opinion.

well you can say 'Mabuhay si Manny Pacquiao' when PAC wins :D

Its also nice to hear that you're feeling that way. Now, if you are to converse to us Filipinos, you can say 'Kamusta?' as a greating, it means 'How are you?'. Hmmm, as i know it, we dont have a word for 'Hi'.

And when you want to say thank you, you say 'Salamat'.

:D Mabuhay ka, joeboxer!!!

KKK for us has historical significance (in positive). it was the organization organized by our hero, Andres Bonifacio, to wage war against the spaniards in the late 19th century

well, chups have another meaning to it, though :)

It has historical significance for us too. After the civil war a group of white men who wore white hoods to protect their identity rode around the country hanging black people from trees. They are still around today except all they can do is talk, not hang people.

Thank for answering my question... much appreciated.

Yes, we're aware of the white hoods. Is there any one who isn't?
But KKK in the Philippines was founded by freedom fighters around 1890s.... way before the Klan I think.

Yeah our KKK started in about 1866 and it is still around today, ****ed up. It actually isn't a corruption of yours, although I can see why you would think that. It is named after the sound a rifle makes Klu-klux and then clan. Old rifles used to sound like that. I guess today it should be called the bang-bang clan but they havn't changed their name. And they spell clan like Klan which doesn't make sense at all.

That **** came after slavery. some people were not happy about freeing the slaves, and I guess they still are not.

And I am whitish mostly, I don't really know everything about my history you know.

Clinton comes from the most racist state in America but the decisions that he made were not racist at all. People would have a much easier time connecting Bush to the KKK, but I don't think he is either. He just acts like it sometimes.

And he has an internation agenda, make the middle east safe for democracy. Even if he has to kill everyone there to do it.
