What did you think of this fighter? He had two great fights with Eubank. Beat Vincenzo Nardiello. Thats pretty much all I know.

Close was very average. Was European champ though and took Eubank 12, even outworking him to look to some like he could have won. Then there was a rematch that involved Don King and Belfast's King's Hall, Eubank's last fight on ITV.

Close beat Dariusz Michalczewski as an amateur.

Failed a brain scan prior to Eubank III...

Basically an arm puncher who made annoying noises with each punch. Very plain. A dedicated Mormon.

He also beat Fabrice Tiozzo as amateur.

got robbed against eubank and talked as if his balls were cut of when he was 12. Really sqeaky voice on him.
only seen the eubanks fights, and hevaent wtached them since they happened as a kid. keep meaning to get around to watching them, i thought he won both fights, but my dad thought eubank won one of them clearly enough. i was a youngster supporting the n.irish fighter so its no surprise i thought he won.

Whats everyone elses take on those 2 fights? Who won them?

I didnt think much to ray close ...Even though i had him beating Eubank once !

Henry Wharton knocked out Ray Close in 90 seconds as an amateur!You know my dad told me that but ...but i couldnt remember ...Henry Wharton was tough fighter with decent power and he had the best chin i have ever seen ... some say he might of won a world title if he hadnt been fighting in the Benn /Eubank time:boxing:
Benn said in his book that Wharton was one of his toughest fights and he even had Benn pissing blood for about a week after the their fight!
