He is fighting his mandatory in Frburary against Eastman, who might be tough but ipick Hop to win in a competitive fight, W12.
However, that`ll be 20 defences of his title, he has expressed the notion to fight on beyond this but with his new buddy De La Hoya he could be arranging his life after this fight as a promoter. However, assuming he does continue and i don`t think he`d benefit at middleweight because there are no more big fights there and yes i include Trinidad because he beat him up last time. Taylor isn`t worth it at this stage, so who would he fight? The winner of the Tarver Vs Johnson match is a logical step and would give Hop a decent payday but there isn`t any money in the super middles and crusiers. What about Ronald Wright at light middle, Hop can make 154 and it would give him another title! What are your thoughts on Hopkin`s next foe after Eastman should he win and want to continue?

I thought Hopkins agreed to fighting 4 more times with golden boy promotions.

hop could fight wright.... he'd win and add another p4p fighter as a victim to his list.... it would also be another smaller guy moving up to fight him....

i'd like to see him fight tarver/johnson winner, but i dont think we'll ever see that...

The only guy out there for Hopkins is Wright...

Fighting Taylor or Wright would be best.

Winky or Taylor after Eastman but definatly not Oscar again.

Oscar makes dollars but no sense...Sounds like a good move *rolls eyes*

Eastman
Wright
Taylor
Trinidad

wouldnt be a bad crop of fighters to end a career on....

Imagine retiring on destroying a guy you "supposedly" ducked and chopping down another undisputed champion and murder the number 1 top prospect in the division you own and retiring on with a win who a guy you knocked out and gave a thorough brutal beating in twelve rounds and coming back to do it after he was considered "reborn"

Another thing is, I hope when Vargas comes back that he gets nowhere near Hopkins and Hopkins doesnt call him our or decide to fight him, might look good on your resume but Vargas isnt even in the same league of Bernards foot.

My bad, it would be a dumb money making thing if they did fight again because after the first fight i cannot possibly see Oscar winning by KO or even points ever this lifetime. Bernard is the Undisputed Middleweight King.

Eastman deserved his shot years ago, Eastman has slipped since then so it wont be as "great" as it was when they should have fought...None the less tough fight for both fighters, I think...

First off why do people overrate Howard Eastman???? Granted I have only seen him fight live one time but that was enough to know he is half the talent that people give him credit for. When he fought Joppy he did nothing the entire first half of the fight, he came on at the end and if he had a few more rounds the fight was his...but I can't stand guys that won't let their hands go until it is too late. Hopkins will easily outclass this guy, no problem!

Of course Winky or Jermain, Hopkins will never take a big risk! IF he is going to continue to fight jr. middleweights than I am going to start calling him the undisputed jr. middleweight champ of the world. Taylor would be an ok fight too watch but very little danger will come from Jermain. The guy will jab all night long, he will be far to afraid to let his hands go!

There is no chance that he will ever face Tarver, Calzaghe, Lacy( if Johnson stuns Tarver he may go for this one, but that is the only way he is moving up). All three would attack him in a way that no fighter 160 or below would even dare. I am not saying he would lose, not syaing he would win either but these three fights are fights that will thrill us, someone out there please tell me besides the TRinidad fight when have you been thrilled in the past five or six years by this 160 king? Gerald McCLelelan was artound for about a week and a half and he has given me three times the memories. I should not be too hard on him but I am tired of other fighters getting verbally assaulted when they move up and take a risk and then perform average(at least they had the balls to go big). Bernard has a ton of **** defenses, **** defenses!!! I just hope he is willing to take a risk one time in his career. A risk that Tito, Roy, Tarver, OScar, Shane, Fernando, MAyorga etc have all taken in the recent past...I know I will get slammed for this post but is there someone out there that would like to see Bernard in a barn burner?

and the bloke or whatever you call him has fought who to become the mandatory? I religously watch this sport, never ever miss a fight and I could probably not tell you about a single opponent Eastman has fought. I love it when guys like Eastman stay busy against top competition, it is such a treat for the fans don't you agree!

Settle down JP, ya know in America we like to say ****in-a...whats ****in-ell? I like it though at least your original.

Eastmans last 7 fights...
Jerry Elliot
Sergey T.(he tried out for the Dallas Maverricks and got cut didn't he?)
Hassine Cheriffi (9th round ko-every one else that was any good ko'd this guy a lot sooner and a lot earlier in his career, at least when HAssine had a hearbeat)
Scott Dan (now this guy I have too see, I hear he is legit)
Gary Beasley (12-8 record by the way)
Christoff T. (15-7)
Hussain Osman (Isn't he an olympic medalist?)

You are absolutely right JP- I do need to get out more, I had no idea there was such talent just right across the pond. ****inell I have been missing out. I would be very appreciative if you give me the inside scoop on some of these fighters that Eastman has fought, I want to get a good scouting report together-I can't wait too see some of these guys-they sound frightening!

I look forward to your response, please be as detailed as possible, who has the big punch, which guy's jaw is granite, who has a commanding jab etc. Thanks JP!

well he has to fight whom the mandatory is mate for the title you know, thats what the word mandatory means.....**** me.

elliot was late sub as sendra couldnt fight due to a bullet in his head but guess as no snidey comment you deem a suitable opponent?
cherifi is heralded as good enought to fight felix sturm in dec, so you go figure, Scott Dann is an up and comer you will hear more from him in the future. (He is the present british champ, in fsact i interviewed him not so long ago).

I also notice you didnt bother to go back further and conveniently omit the Sam soliman points victory hmmm.....

as for plus and negative points ill do better than that mate, Ill write a ****ing preivew and post the link here for you.

happy now?

do come again. :D

Your the man JPW, I look forward to the report....yes I am extremely happy now.

Leaving Sam Soliman out was by design, I am very into politics so I am very good at spin. HAd I mentioned Soliman people around this site would have deemed Eastman the heir apparent to the middleweight thrown. Hopkins will completely outclass this guy, what do you think?

No never heard of him...Who was the middleweight that defended his title against Roberto Duran when Duran was 63? Who was that guy that got his face blown up like a hot air ballon against BHOP? There was this one guy who got beat by Tito that kept getting hit with left hooks while pulling up his trunks, who was that guy? I remember this one fight with legendary Howard Eastman when the guy he fought could barely make it thru the 12th and then won this narrow decision. I am very new to the sport...if you know of any of these fighters that I am talking about please fill me in! Who knows they might even be the same guy, but seriously what are the chances of that?

Willima Joppy...3 time world champ huh, this guy I have got too see!

credit to you scap! nice sparring dude! ;)

think b hop has too much for howard for real, howard is a good granite chinned guy with power BUT he is lazy as all hell, the one thing you have to be to keep Bhop thinking is busy, I just dont see howard having the workrate to upset hopkins. Hopkins wide UD, tho of course i hope howard does pull it off, i cant see it happening.

in fact the post match interviews of howard's recent fights have been more interesting than the bouts themselves, guy is nuttier than squirrel ****!

From the choices on the list, Winky. But I wouldn't mind him rematching with Tito. I know he beat Tito easily in their first matchup, but I am curious to see what kind of gameplan Trinidad's team can come up with in a rematch with The Executioner.

No credit to you for putting up with my arrogant ass! The lazy as all hell part is something that I saw in his fight with Joppy, had he kicked in in gear sooner the fight was his, instead he chose to show Jop way too much respect early and paid for it when the decision was read.

I too will be pulling for Eastman, I like Hopkins but I feel the only way I will be thrilled when they fight is if Hopkins gets upset, I am not interested in seeing him win a fight the way he did against Carl Daniels or Keith Holmes I have seen that movie before.

I really think he shoudl fight the winner of Tarver Johnson but not before maybe fighting an easier fight at either 168 or 175. A fight against Winky could be good, but then people can say he's picking on smaller fihters. I'm not sure if Jermain's people will let him fight him, but if they will, he could think about that. BUt I'd favor about moving up. He could really cement his legacy with a win over Tarver and Johnson, and become one of the top ten fighters of al ltime.
