View Full Version : Kimbo Slice Vs Roy Nelson Result(Spoiler Warning)
Dorian 09-30-2009, 11:02 PM What did you guys think of Kimbo's performance?
I think his stand up is good but he still needs a lot of work to do on the ground game, Nelson was passing guards to mount like there is no tomorrow.
Versastyle 09-30-2009, 11:03 PM Fan appeal dropped 50% after that fight. They even said the biggest fight in UFC history. I saw the fight and the fight before that way, interesting. I was impressed.
Dorian 09-30-2009, 11:04 PM The show is pretty much done, rating will fall like hell.
MJ406 09-30-2009, 11:09 PM bump this over to the non spoiler Kimbo thread.
yeah way too much hype.
we're gonna need a Kimbo return if the ratings are to bump back up.
GroundSt.Pound 09-30-2009, 11:43 PM As long as Kimbo is still in the house, it will keep generating good numbers. There is always a chance for him to come back, and there is always a possiblity of a brawl at the house.
Plus Rashad and Quinton can pull in good numbers themselves
Akyra 09-30-2009, 11:45 PM copy pasted my thoughts from a bsl thread:
i'm a kimbo fan but his performance was truly disastrous and disappointing. fact is, he has no technique, he's a street brawler (plain and simple). even a big guy like roy proved to be a fast target for kimbo to track. he kept moving and kimbo couldn't get the guy locked down in one spot to beat him down. and let's not even talk about his ground game.. he has absolutely no ground game... at all.
kind of a let down since kimbo was such a big figure in my eyes and one of my favorite fighters.. it's like realizing the guy you thought to be so great turned out to be just hype. even though i kind of knew it all along i still had that resistance (cause i wanted to believe he was actually that big of a threat.. was fun) in me thinking that one loss was out of pure luck. the sad part is he was laying there on the ground helpless against a guy like roy... whos punches weren't nearly as dangerous, continuous, brutal or hard as ur average ufc/mma fighter.
it's quite obvious dana is trying to get out as much as he can out of the kimbo hype train. i already saw in the previews he might come back to replace flower lover. it's obvious what they're tying to do by the way they treat him and make him look. not only that but the special opportunities he's getting just because he's kimbo. i bet the first guy that got eliminated won't get the chance to come back.. however, kimbo slice will.
popkins99 09-30-2009, 11:57 PM shocking news! :dead1:
JoeKickAss 10-01-2009, 12:23 AM Nelson was able to take on AA for a while standing. Kimbo wasn't going to beat him.
pugilistfan 10-01-2009, 01:08 AM You know whats sad? People actually thinking Kimbo has good striking or even decent striking.
His striking is honestly terrible. Its arguably worse than his ground game.
No wonder he wanted no part of boxing. The guy would lose to a low-level pro.
tocayito1 10-01-2009, 01:20 AM yea man his striking is terrible even in his youtube videos he looked like ass
the funniest part for me in the show was when rashad went in to help big country....rashad has horrible standup too...big country is way better than rashad and hes going to win tuf
American_Ninja 10-01-2009, 01:27 AM The Sh1t is gonna hit the fan next week. Just wait and see.
Punch Me 10-01-2009, 03:31 AM The Sh1t is gonna hit the fan next week. Just wait and see.
What do you mean ?
Oh, and Rashad has effective standup, that's how he went on a huge win streak to win a whole TUF season and then take the championship, he only lost to Machida and well ... you know Machida. What does it take to prove oneself ?!?!!
Kimbo had all the chances in the world to be an MMA fighter all this time, but no improvement. And I wanna see what happens to that poor wreck Marcus : he's sooo shot ! He must have accumulated a lot of injuries from NFL.
Cadillac Man 10-01-2009, 03:49 AM I feel sorry 4 anyone that watches UFC 4 world-class competiton.

Says the 8-year old who uses 4 instead of "four"
Anyway, UFC is world-class competition, this is just a reality show, so you failed 2 times in one sentence.
Go away from this forum section please, I don't want to bother the moderators by reporting your trolling attempts.
Mech. 10-01-2009, 04:21 AM Definitely the worst season I've of TUF I've watched. All the fights have been pretty bad.
kimbo got next to zero chance on the ground..............

Irony.
Since you meant to spell it as "for" but ended up spelling 4.
$ LegenD $ 10-01-2009, 08:19 AM i really dont see all the fuss about this being the worst this and that......i mean all the other seasons most fights were bad...its just that the early fights the ones with no hope get beat then the semi's and finals is where a little more technique and better conditioning occurs....even then dont forget these guys are trying out not fighting for the UFC.....as for the show i love rampage and greg jackson oh i mean rashad as coaches......im still going to tune in been hearing some good things about that cat brandon shaub or something like that........
fightaddicted 10-01-2009, 08:27 AM ummm...i think rashad took all the ground guys and rampage picked all the stand up guys...as far as last night i think kimbo did what he needed to do..as soon as he rocked roy nelson in the 2nd..roy knew it wasnt his place to be and then he did what kimbo is not good at, took him to the ground....there is a chance that kimbo might come back but people know how to beat him so hes going to need to step it up with his ground atleast to survive.....but i want to see kimbo come back make it to the finals and get a rematch with roy at the finale...
Cuauhtémoc1520 10-01-2009, 08:36 AM I have a feeling Kimbo will be back. I heard an interview with Dana White and he was saying how he has new found respect for Kimbo after this season.
I think Kimbo comes back personally. To those who said his striking is worse than his ground game are fools.
Kimbo can throw hands but in the cage it's much different because he can't just come forward like he wants to. He has to defend take downs and throwing hard shots from up close is an easy way to get taken down.
snakey112 10-01-2009, 08:36 AM Fan appeal dropped 50% after that fight. They even said the biggest fight in UFC history. I saw the fight and the fight before that way, interesting. I was impressed.
what the **** are you talking about
snakey112 10-01-2009, 08:37 AM I feel sorry 4 anyone that watches UFC 4 world-class competiton.
I feel sorry for boxing fanboys who have nothing better to do than come into the MMA section and talk **** about it
Texanballer 10-01-2009, 08:43 AM That was pathetic on behalf of Kimbo. If he couldnt beat beer belly nelson there is no way in hell he can beat any of the ufc regulars in the heavyweight division.
MJ406 10-01-2009, 09:41 AM **I do like the fact that Kimbo hasn't let the camera get to him, and has remained humbe ... no excessive trash talk or mouthing off. Slice KNOWS he needs to improve his fight game and does work hard (at least that's how the cameras portray him)
but in the reality of it, he probably should be back to fighting the Butterbeans, Bob Sapp and Tank Abbotts of the world
to think where Slice would be now, had Shamrock not gotten hurt before their fight.
#1Assassin 10-01-2009, 09:53 AM Definitely the worst season I've of TUF I've watched. All the fights have been pretty bad.
yeah i agree. the second fight was a disgrace to planet earth. not just mma or fighting, it was a disgrace to humanity. mma version of charlie z-hartley, completely pathetic.
as for kimbo, i like him as a person but as a fighter he just doesnt have what it takes. the rest of the season will suck, its cear the ufc filled it with bums to give kimbo a chance of lasting a bit. now that he lost it will just be one terrible fight after another. and since rashad and rampage aint gon fight no more there aint much interest there eighter.

speaking of shamrock, will he return after the suspension?
jakkups 10-01-2009, 10:41 AM Not a shock at all. Nelson did what anyone with half a brain knew he would do. Kimbo's striking looked OK, but that was only down to the fact that Roy's striking is akin to a blind man throwing punches so in reality it was pretty piss poor. Nelson didn't impress me either. The guy is supposed to have some heavy rep in comparison to the other guys in the house but that performance wasn't justifying that rep. I still think he'll win the show but I'm still giving Schoonover a good chance of challenging him.
MJ406 10-01-2009, 11:31 AM speaking of shamrock, will he return after the suspension?
I dunno if he needs the money, and feels like getting embarrassed probably so.
I would hope not though, as the continuous amount of times Ken's been kayoed on top of getting busted for roids has ruined his name to the point where nobody would WANT a fight vs Shamrock
on the ideas that fighting him would doing nada for their careers.
**Shamrock continuing on would be equivalent to Liddell going on fighting
except add a positive test for roids along with the brutal knockout losses.

I really dont understand why anybody would take stiking advice from any MMA fighter unless their names are Machida, Fedor, Silva, Penn, Noons, GSP.
pugilistfan 10-01-2009, 12:48 PM At some point Dana has to try and legitimize this sport by bringing in good fighters. These guys aside from Nelson are absolutely terrible.
Dana is just a huge douchebag whos bringing the sport down by bringing in horrible fighters who manufacture ratings as opposed to sacrificing a bit of drama for talent.
TUF is an absolute joke and I honestly think people who watch the show consistently and enjoy it have mental issues or are teenagers.

Bas Rutten, Ray Sefo, Jerome LeBanner are all have more solid and more accomplished striking backgrounds than all of those mentioned...

I have mental issues but i still thinks this TUF season suck. I could beat the guys in the first two fights.
I'm sad for Kimbo but Roy Nelson is hands down the best man in the house. Dana should have told Rashad to not pick Cumbo for his Fat ass Nelson.
$ LegenD $ 10-01-2009, 01:43 PM how is this dana's fault? he's taking in fighters with aspirations to be in the UFC....they are not ufc fighters YET.....the staff goes by tapes sent in by the fighters and by word of mouth on some of them that train with current ufc fighters so of course they will most likely by sloppy and raw at first but by semi's and finals time u will notice what a difference training with UFC fighters is

You obviously don't watch MMA much. Nelson is 13-4 and the former IFL Heavyweight Champ. His Jiu Jitsu is A-Level and he even gave Frank Mir fits in a grappling tournament a few years back.
This guy is no pushover.
In anything, Kimbo's reputation increased after losing to easily the most accomplished, experienced, and well rounded fighter on the show.
SOPH~ REP. 10-01-2009, 03:55 PM Kimbo has no ground game

and he would have beaten arlovski if it wasn't for that bull**** standup, the worst standup in the history of MMA

Lol I would rather train striking with Fedor, seeing how the guy is around Ernesto Hoost 50% of his training time before fights. Now there's a guy who trumps all of your list in the striking department.

a UFC program getting low ratings?.

Dorian 10-01-2009, 04:54 PM We will see if he gets back due to injuries, but after this fight I doubt many in the house will 'fear' him anymore.
I hope he gets another shot...

really? his technique is horrible he telegraphs his punches and they are always wide....and really tuf 2 were a bunch of bums...have you seen his fights? he moves his hands back in forth like hes doing the retard sign and his defense is even worse...his hands are spaztic and wouldnt be affective against some one with good standup....its just that 90% of mma fighters dont know how to throw a punch or defend it
Clegg 10-03-2009, 08:36 PM I'm a bit of an MMA noob, but that was the worst fight I've seen since I started watching the sport about 6 months ago.
Kimbo has been discussed, but I felt that Nelson looked very poor. His standup wasn't at all good, and even on the ground he spent a lot of time laying on top of Kimbo not doing too much, and his punches looked weak as well.
