The first night of Super Six boxing, with Abraham-Taylor and Froch-Dirrell will be on a new PPV channel called Primetime, and will cost £14.95. The fights will be live (not on delay like Abraham-Taylor on Showtime) and it will show the Froch undercard as well.

ThisisNottingham.co.uk

CARL Froch's first Super Six fight against Andre Dirrell at the Trent FM Arena next month will be aired live on BBC Radio 5 Live and the UK's newest pay-per-view channel Primetime, it was announced at a Press conference today.

It will cost £14.95 for almost six hours of boxing. It will be the first live event broadcast by the fledgling channel, which is filing the void left by the demise of Setanta.

Froch will climb into the ring against Dirrell at around 2am on October 18, so that it can be broadcast live on Showtime in America.

They will also screen Arthur Abrahams v Jermaine Taylor and fights from the Froch-Dirrell undercard.

But Froch is not concerned about going to work so late at night.

"I've not done anything different in my preparation," he said. "I'm still going for my early morning run and getting my head bit earlier every night.

"I've got to get my body tuned to American prime time."

WBA champion Mikkel Kessler broke off from training for his fight with Andre Ward to attend today's Press conference in the Council Chamber and says he can't wait to fight Froch.

"As a fighter you only take one fight at a time, but when I do fight Carl it will be a massive fight," he said.

"He wasn't a big name when I fought Joe Calzaghe, but he is a big name now. and I respect him a lot."

Well £15 for both fights plus all the undercard action,And also Abraham/Taylor will be screened live wheras Showtime are showing it tape delayed.

Also They are going to be screening the 24/7 Showtime versions leading up to the fights.

"Showtime's behind-the-scenes 24/7 style fighter documentaries will also be aired on PrimeTime in the weeks leading up to the event."

I'd say probably, buts it's wait and see.
It seems like someones knocked this channel together so we can watch Froch fight in the UK, and they'll want to sell as many as possible so I can't see a reason why we wont be able to get it.

They'll be getting my £15. I can't see them doing big numbers though, no real household names and too many people watching streams.

I don't know what's wrong with boxing fans, £15 for these potentially great fights and they still won't pay it - at least support UK boxing so it stays on TV!

Does anyone know if it will be shown in HD?

ill pay for it, should be good, but they should've just given this card to the bbc for free.
then stick the rest of the tourny on ppv. It would gain them more moeny in the long term. If they stuck it on bbc or itv then millions would watch it, and quite a few of those would be willing to pay for the remaining cards of the tourny.

Well I pay £48 a month for Sky TV, I aint made of money, why should I then have to fork out £15 for boxing aswell?
Its the principle of the whole thing,Some people not only have Sky but they also pay for ESPN aswel and they still get almost ZERO boxing.
These fights should be on Sky Sports 1,They aint so I will watch on streams and then download in great quality the next day.

Gotta agree with you on this one mate. I'm currently paying around £65 a month for SkySports HD and ESPN. Apart from Friday nights fights and the odd classic fights on ESPN(that I already watched)the is not alot of Boxing on. People slated Setanta but I was happily paying whatever it was a month and we got plenty of Boxing.

Just to let those of you who are interested in my fight will Andre Dirrell on the 17th, the program will be aired on PrimeTime which is a channel on the Sky platform.

At the minute, it's reported that it will launch on channel 480 over the next few days.

They will be showing some of my past fights and will also be showing behind the scenes footage of all of us training for the first round of the Super Six. Showtime were filming me running and sparring two weeks ago and they have also been shadowing the others so it should make for good viewing.

Regards,

Carl Froch

dailymotion.com/video/xaqxlk_carl-froch-on-dirrell-primetime-ppv_sport Here is the man himself Carl Froch talking about the big night. Really interesting interview, sounds like Carl is really excited about the fight himself, especially as it is in his home town of Nottingham. He's also pretty stoked about it being on Primetime, saying that essentially it saved the night as the BBC and ITV just dont seem to show any interest in boxing these days. A week tomorrow, getting very excited about the big event now.

Assuming that Virgin get the new channel I'll be shelling out the 15 quid - I couldn't stand having to listen to it on the radio again like for Froch - Taylor after all the internet streams were cut off. It'll be a good night of boxing as well with the Abraham - Taylor fight so I'm not going to complain to much about the price, at the end of the day I was beginning to doubt we'd be able to see it at all in the UK.

The way that the major channels are just ignoring Carl Froch is just completely mystifying - I thought the way he KO'd Taylor would change all that but evidently not. What more does the bloke have to do? He guarentees an exciting fight, he could be huge in this country if ITV bothered to follow his career.

Virgin won't have it, these chumps have set up one deal only and thats with Sky, I also hear they are actually from the same stable as Television X and they are just taking a punt to see if they make any dough.

Bit of a rip off and a farce if you ask me, we all pay good money to Sky and ESPN for Zero boxing coverage and the odd fight, no way would I pay Primetime even if it was on Virgin.

They screwed themselves by ignoring the other platforms and only dealing with two fights for £15.

They should have made a deal with Showtime and whoever else they could get on board and became a subscription channel, one running 24 hours available for Subscription across all platforms like Setanta did.

Sky, Virgin, Freeview Top Up TV and Internet.

They only got one out of five !

This **** they are trying to pull, it most likely fails.

They're charging £13/£15 to order this. I heard that they were offered £100,000 by the BBC. Not great money, but how much are they gonna make from some crappy PPV company that nobody knows about and only Sky customers can get? And Hennessey will have to pay for TV presenters to work the show as well, whereas BBC would get their own guys to do it. BBC would also give Froch a lot more publicity. It's now the week of the fight and I still haven't seen a single TV advert for it. At least BBC would get them a lot of exposure.

It will do terrible numbers, A few of my non boxing fan mates are thinking about picking up the Haye Valuev fight as they have seen it talked about on Sky Sports News but no one outside of boxing fans have even heard of this tournament. It would have been a great idea to put it on BBC then after they have got more exposure move onto PPV. Froch is a no name in UK sport.

Can't believe people aren't willing to stump up the money for this PPV. Sure it sucks that we even have to, but boxing fans have been shoddily treated for years. Let's just be grateful we've got the option of seeing the fights at all, especially a fight like Taylor vs Abraham.

Let me tell you something - it's hard as hell nowadays to get a solid stream that doesn't close down at some point during the fight. Why risk that when we've got the option of watching this without having to go through the torture of finding a horrendously choppy stream?

Just pay the goddamn money. You're getting two tremendous fights on the same night.

I'm buying it. Can't frigging wait:boxing:

Totally agree, if I wasn't heading to Nottingham this weekend to go see Froch-Dirrell live then I would buy this PPV without a 2nd thought. The way things have been recently we're lucky that it's available anywhere on a TV screen, I feel for the Virgin customers but anyone who has Sky should buy this. 2 fights of the Super Six Tournament with a ****ty undercard included is worth £15 of anyones money. I just hope they show the Taylor-Abraham fight somewhere in Nottingham or at the Arena :)

Even if I didn't have Sky, I'd order it online. I did for the Froch Taylor fight. It was wonderful not having to stress about getting a stream, not to mention the quality of the picture was fantastic. Well worth the £10.00 it cost me.

did anyone have to pay for the registartion fee for this (2.50) plus the 13 quid

bit of a f**king con aint it, i know its only 2.50 but it does mount up

yeah man, that 2.50 is a bit shady.

Can't believe people aren't willing to stump up the money for this PPV. Sure it sucks that we even have to, but boxing fans have been shoddily treated for years. Let's just be grateful we've got the option of seeing the fights at all, especially a fight like Taylor vs Abraham.

I ordered mine yesterday and there's nothing better, like you say, than sitting back and knowing 100% the fight is not going to cut out or slow-down or whatever bull****. That to me is worth the money for this epic beginning of this amazing tournament.

Since I'm with Virgin Media, I'd resigned myself to the fact that I wouldn't be able to watch this live (with absolutely no mates with Sky TV seeming to even know who Carl Froch is, let alone purchase the fight) but as the fight night draws nearer... I simply can't miss it! Even though my internet connection can sometimes be dodgy, and I never in a million years thought I'd pay to watch something on my laptop, I'm just gonna bite the bullet and part with the cash and hope the quality is ok! Like has been said, it's a far better option than relying on a bunch of dodgy/unreliable streams on Saturday night (which in all likelihood will be cut off by the 2nd/3rd round anyway).

Fingers crossed they'll have the PPV sorted for Virgin TV next time though...

I've paid too. £15 for the fight, crate of lager and a curry for £20 - £35 for a cracking night's entertainment! And I can sit back and watch it on a big TV knowing the picture isn't going to disappear :headbang:

haha your brother deserved that happening, I do hope you'll at least let him watch the fight with you.

Right need to get ready, leaving for Nottingham in an hour. Got my coldbox ready with some JD, diet coke and some Coors Light, perfection. Glad to hear rumours of the Abraham-Taylor fight being shown in the arena.

Are they connected to different phone lines? If not it should automatically be on both, but if they have different phone lines call them and tell them which box you want it screened on.
