View Full Version : I know people will talk **** to me, but I have a confession.. I HATE Wu-Tang...
El Mero Chingon 09-29-2009, 06:40 PM I have NEVER liked ANYONE (except for some Method Man) from Wu-Tang, much less any of their albums...
The only song I like is from Gza -Liquid Swords...
Like I said, I know people will talk ****, but o'well....

Savino 09-29-2009, 07:05 PM Your opinion mate and can't hate on that.
I hate lil wayne with a passion.
CrackYourJaw 09-29-2009, 07:11 PM Can't hate on your opinion, but how much Wu-Tang have you heard?
Their catalog of music, including solo joints, is huge.
Have you heard:
OB4CL
Liquid Swords
Iron Man
36 Chambers?
All classics in my humble opinion.
KILLA RIGHT 09-29-2009, 07:20 PM Your a good man and good poster but from now on when i see you talking about hip hop i will tune you out...WU IS THE GREATEST GROUP EVER...BY THE WAY METH IS BY FAR MY LEAST FAVORITE MEMBER..BUT HEY IT'S YOUR EARS NOT MINE

LOL. Some people just don't like that gutter ****.
"But he don't know the meaning of dope
When he's lookin for a suit and tie rap
that's cleaner than a bar of soap
And I'm the dirtiest thing in sight
Matter of fact bring out the girls and let's have a mud fight."
PAC-BOY 09-29-2009, 07:24 PM I have NEVER liked ANYONE (except for some Method Man) from Wu-Tang, much less any of their albums...

they wouldnt like you either, so dont sweat it.
El Mero Chingon 09-29-2009, 08:23 PM Its not the lyrics or this or that.... I just find them not entertaining and same old, same old.....
I like creativity.... Something like Bone Thugs did with Biggy, or Teach the World, Crossroads and especially the beginning of Days of our lives.... That is **** that no one will everdo again.... Pac was great, the different subjects and the amount of content.... Pac was consistently making great music... Wu IMO is way too inconsistent, and talk about the same **** over and over and over again.... The same with 50 Cent... He talks about the same ****, and yes I am a fan, but I am getting less interested day by day.... I think that is why Jay-Z has been relevant for so long, his ability top switch things up...
But I just dont really like NYC rap as a whole..... It just seems like the guys try to be so lyrical, and forget about good music..... Being lyrical is great, but when you cant switch up and make an eclectic album, and a radio single, but you wanna be the most lyrical dude on the planet, it shows that they are just RAPPERS and not musical artists.....
And I dont mean everything has to be radio singles or this or that, it is just that NYC rappers are so narrow minded when it comes to music.... Hoof, gutter ****, with lyrics, but f*ck the overall sound of the record or song.. I just dont like that....

NYC rappers couldnt make a single to save their lives.....
And I dont even like down south stuff... My faves are BTNH, Pac, Dre, 50, Em, old 3-6 mafia, Dre, Obie Trice and some others that I cant think of.....
down South is about fun music... Carter 1 is the best Wayne came out with.. I really dont like the South either....
I just like good music, with different subject matter....
Musically talking, remember MUSICALLY talking, BTHN were more talented than any other group INCLUDING Wu Tang... Maybe they didnt get as much love, and got hated on for their vocals, but MUSICALLY speaking, they are the best... They can sing, rap, have lyrics, and are the only group to perform with Pac, Big, and Easy....
There are things that Bone does that Wu would NEVER be able to do....

Lean On Me 09-29-2009, 08:50 PM If one hates the WU, they hate Hiphop, period and never cared for or understood any points of the culture.
KILLA RIGHT 09-29-2009, 08:58 PM How you gonna say wu talks about the same **** when bone talks about weed 90% of their songs? Listen to suprmeme clientele,ob4cl then wu forever and tell me they talk about the same ****? I understand you don't like wu but your explenation is really bad....But i guess some of us like lyrics and some people don't... east coast hip hop>>>>west coast, midwest and the south

You like creativity, but not Wu-Tang?
I could care less about singles. Those are usually fluff songs to get more buys. Yeah, Wu-Tang doesn't make club hits, but generally speaking, club hits are garbage anyways.
As for the overall sound. Wu Tang is about as diverse as it gets.

They're pioneers.
And please don't **** on "NYC Rappers" when that's where hip-hop started. And 50 Cent is an "NYC Rapper," no?
First of all, he's not sh!ttin on NYC rappers, he's stating an opinion as a matter of fact, I agree with him.
Aside from when they first came out, I cant listen to Wu Tang today, even Rae's new album didnt do much for me although I wouldnt say its wack. You listen to what you listen too, btw I love Bone Thugs too H Town.
You gotta listen to that new Jigga tho, he might not spit like he used too but Jay's intelligence in his rhymes is just incredible. He doesnt spit big words he gets too the point.
"ten number one albums and now maybe eleven"
CrackYourJaw 09-29-2009, 11:41 PM I guess he didn't really. He just called them narrow minded and unable to create "singles," which I've already stated, I don't really care for.
Which is stupid to say, considering there have been hundreds of rappers from NYC. And to generalize all NYC rappers is in itself narrow minded.

There are guys like Sha Stimuli who got lyrics.... But cant make a hook or a single...
One of my favorite rappers RIGHT NOW is Ransom, and I have listened to alot of his ****, and he cant make a single for nothing....
Papoose... eehhhhh
Joe Budden...
Cannibus...
Jae Millz
J R Writer...
Juelz is the epitome of mixtape rapper...
Now dont get me wrong, there are some good rappers like Camron, 50, Pun, but for the most part, mostly all of NY Rappers are MIXTAPE RAPPERS....

Come on bro you just said camron and 50 are good rappers?
how can you not like early mobb deep? listen to hell on earth and tell me thats a mixtape...It's your opinion it just seems you think like most of the kids so i understand. Soft beat, hook thats 20 minutes long and no good lyrics

When I sa y good, I mean stand out in the public eye....
Of course I love Mobb Deep....
I am not saying that ALL NYC music is mixtape music.... I am saying that MOST of the NYC rappers are mixtape rappers....
Does that mean they arent good? Hell no..... It just means they arent the kind of rappers that would EVER be big time.....
My favorite all around CD is "Alchemist: 1st Infantry".... But most of the songs on there are basically high praise mixtape songs....
I am not saying NYC rappers suck, I am saying MOST are mixtape rappers...
El Mero Chingon 09-30-2009, 01:01 AM One of my favorite songs... but it is far from a HIT SINGLE.... Nice song, get crunk, jam to it... But as far as a big time single on national radio stations? Nope....

I love Ransom, I like this song more than the singles I put, but there is no way this is a big time song.... there is a big difference..
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/oGnt0gXS4PE&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/oGnt0gXS4PE&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Haglerwins 09-30-2009, 01:15 AM C.R.E.A.M mf'er!
H Town
Method Man isn't even the best in the group. He's maybe more charismatic than other Wu members but he's not the most talented.
On their own accord, the strongest members are Ghost and Rae, and then Deck on the group efforts. Gza and ODB are the other standouts.
And hol' up.. you're not being objective. The only Wu joint you like is Liquid Swords? You can't possibly have heard much Wu if you're writing them off and ignoring other strong efforts. 36 Chambers. "" The Dirty version. Only Built For Cuban Linx (Pt. 1). Supreme Clientele. and their second most notable (notable, not praised) album Wu Tang Forever (with crazy radio spinning track, Triumph - That album was on fire when I was in Highschool). Most of these were mainstream efforts.
And I love how Jay got props in here. Only Built For Cuban Linx 1 is the reason Reasonable Doubt exists! So you can thank Raekwon for giving Jay- Z his breath of life on a solo career lol.
And H Town, Glaciers Of Ice is better than most of them joints you just posted lol and it's old.

Haglerwins 09-30-2009, 01:24 AM Wait, I just relooked, the only track you like from Wu is Liquid Swords?
I can't take this thread seriously. This is just haterade and not appreciating greatness.
BG_Knocc_Out 09-30-2009, 01:30 AM To hate almost all the members in the Wu shows you probably really haven't listened to them. The thing about the Wu is that even on their solo albums, they are still a group. "Da Mystery of Chessboxing" is probably one of the dopest lyrical songs with styles to the equivilent of the great lyrics they produce. ****, you might think Masta Killa's verse on the song mentioned above may be wack, but if you listen with an open mind and take in the vocabulary and the intelect this man is throwing in, you can't get much better than that.
"Homicide's illegal and death is the penalty
What justifies the homicide, when he dies?
In his own iniquity it's the
Master of the Mantis Rapture comin at cha
We have an APB on an MC Killer
Looks like the work of a Master
Evidence indicates that's it's stature
Merciless like a terrorist hard to capture
The flow, changes like a chameleon
Plays like a friend, and stabs you like a dagger
This technique attacks the immune system
Disguised like a lie paralyzin the victim
You scream, as it enters your bloodstream
Erupts your brain from the pain these thoughts contain
movin on a ***** with the speed of a centipede
and injure - ANY MOTHER****IN CONTENDER"
**** can't get any deeper and creative than that.
Haglerwins 09-30-2009, 01:34 AM Cold World is an equally good track to me. INS kills that sht. Off the same album Liquid Swords. This got media attention for the content of the video back in the day.

CrackYourJaw 09-30-2009, 11:39 AM Well of course Wu-Tang isn't gonna make hit singles for the radio. That's not them. They just make good music (for the most part), they make **** that they like. Just because something is popular doesn't make it good.
Even though Wu-Tang has had platinum albums.
And the truth is, Wu-Tang probably influenced your favorite rapper.
CaRnAgEViOLaToR 09-30-2009, 01:11 PM wow...how does anyone hate the wu-tang clan...everyone has their opinion but smh.
Ravishing 09-30-2009, 02:12 PM I have NEVER liked ANYONE (except for some Method Man) from Wu-Tang, much less any of their albums...

LOL Meth was the weakest link as far as the classic albums that dropped.
Rae's, Ghosts, Gza's, ODB's >>>>Meth's album(s)

Listen to what you're saying and how silly it sounds,
"so and so can't make a single for nothing".
What, you're an A & R now?
The first thing you think of when you hear a song is, "will it sell as a single"?
You're looking too deep into the business aspect of music.
Just enjoy the music.
Grand Champ 09-30-2009, 05:38 PM How can you hate on songs like Ice Cream and Gravel Pit? :D
Wukillabeez78 09-30-2009, 10:46 PM Given my screen name I obviously won't comment on this matter because YOU KNOW WHAT I THINK!!!!
MegStarr* 09-30-2009, 11:28 PM i just find this concept of hating Wu-Tang but liking hip hop a bit difficult to really grab a hold of because there are 9 members. can you honestly say that a group with 9 diverse members are lacking diversity in their music? they have SO MUCH material to be listened to. i find it hard to believe that you don't like any of them other than method man, the most commercially successful of them all. maybe you like more of a mainstream sound? it cannot be doubted that meth bridges the gap between mainstream and the underground better than any of the other members. i find it more likely that you have not heard enough of their tracks and are just basing your opinion on a the small portion that you have exposed yourself to.
but i could be wrong. maybe i just want to be right because i love the wu. but for the sake of everyone else posting in this thread...why not give another listen?

Im not saying I dont like some of their songs... i am saying as a WHOLE, their careers, and all the music they put out, I just dont really like them... Of course with the countless albums they have put out together and separate there will be songs that i like.... I like songs by Rae, Ghostface, Gza, Meth... But their career as a whole (joint or seperate), I just really dont like them...
