PessimisticPug 03-14-2005, 01:59 PM I know that he is thought of in very small terms as a fighter now a days, but back in the day this guy was just plain awsome to watch. I had boutght my first ever issue of K.O. Magazine and featured in the mag was a bout between Hector Camacho and Louie Burke. There was a nice write up on Hector and I began following his career. Quite honestly, I still have not seen a fighter that displayed such speed and swiftness when in the ring. He would walk in to range and start firing away with such speed and quantity in his combos, I thought he was awsome. He easily took the title from the hands of Jose Luis Ramirez and I thought he was going to be champion forever. That is until he ran into Edwin Rosario. Rosario plain and simple put a beating on Camacho, trapped him and pounded him when Camacho wanted to move and with his power nulified not only Camachos speed but also his heart. Camacho walked away from the fight with a decision that he did not deserve and also walked away a different fighter. The Hector Camacho of the old days seemingly died in that fight. I would watch his fights that came after Rosario and I quite simply could not take it. Here was one of the most talented and gifted fighters who was now afraid, it seemed to be hit at all. He still won plenty of fights but those fights were hard to watch to say the least. For Camacho to stand and exchange with anybody after Rosario it had to mean that Camacho knew that he was in no danger of being hurt, and in the ring fighting, that is a rare occasion. He was my first idol in the world of boxing. He actually beat a buddy of mine on his way to the title, Greg Coverson. Greg, a man that could fight very well, has his own story about the surroundings of the fight for him but he was easily out pointed in 10. I now look at Camacho in a different light, remembering what he was and what he had become in the later parts of his career. Running can win you gold in the olympic 100 meter dash but in boxing it will not win you many fans, he did manage to win many fights still with his superior hand speed and skill but it was never even a glimmer of what he may have been....Rockin' joeboxer 03-14-2005, 02:59 PM Tyson vs Lewis. I hated Lewis so much and wanted Tyson to go out on top, I even thought Lewis was perfect for Tyson because of his chin. I died a little bit in that one for sure. AintGottaClue 03-14-2005, 06:15 PM i can still vision tyson looking for his gum shield in the dougless fight or holding his head as blood came down after the lewis one. :( Martin (Top Knowledge) 03-14-2005, 06:16 PM Gatti will get exposed! AintGottaClue 03-14-2005, 06:22 PM Gatti will get exposed! he's lost 7 times and got ***** by DLh in one of em he has already been exposed i guess lol, just say he will get beat down by mayweather (which he wont) if u r gonna put it liek that ZaneTeal 03-14-2005, 06:50 PM Gatti will get exposed! Gatti's been exposing HIMSELF for years now. His "resurrection" will always have an asterik next to it, and that asterik will have Gianluca Branco's name by it. Branco's a comparable fighter, physically, and he gave Gatti HELL. So just imagine what Floyd, the best fighter on the planet, is gonna do to him. MetalVomit 03-14-2005, 06:55 PM Two words.......Evander Holyfield. Not instantly crushed, over the past years. So, so sad. += El Jefe=+ 03-14-2005, 07:44 PM When Chavez lost to DLH i felt sorry for that man. SacTown1 03-14-2005, 07:53 PM When Chavez lost to DLH i felt sorry for that man. I felt even worse when Tszyu smashed him up in Phoenix a few years back, that fight was un-necessary += El Jefe=+ 03-14-2005, 07:54 PM any fight of his within the last 5 years has been unescesary enadeus 03-14-2005, 11:33 PM I'd have to say Mike Tyson vs Danny Williams. I really hoped Mike Tyson can make a comeback. leff 03-15-2005, 04:47 AM I was very sad after both the lewis-tyson and the wlad-sanders fights. joeboxer 03-15-2005, 04:57 AM I was very sad after both the lewis-tyson and the wlad-sanders fights. Ya after Lewis won I don't think I even said a word to anyone for maybe two or three hours. leff 03-15-2005, 01:27 PM Ya after Lewis won I don't think I even said a word to anyone for maybe two or three hours. I was so shocked that he lost i was shcoked in the way he lost, i remeber mid fight when he complained to his trainer and the badly beaten mike said he as done. I expected a close fight not LL jabbing him to death before ending him with that killer straight in the 8th. Mr. Ryan 03-15-2005, 01:37 PM De La Hoya-Hopkins, I dunno, I love the Golden Boy. Whitaker-Trinidad, that was sad. Tyson-Lewis, that one legitimately hurt me. De La Hoya-Gatti, I'm from Jersey City. Chill Town! boxerman 03-16-2005, 09:30 PM tony knocking out holyfield was hard for me to handle Allen_Poe 03-16-2005, 09:45 PM Prince Naseem Vs Marco Antonio Barrera Me being the uneducated boxing fan at the time, i was like "how the **** is this garbage ass dude whooping on Prince like that?" I just could not believe it Zab Judah vs Kostya Tszyu I have never, and still havent, see a reaction from a punch like that EVER. For that small moment, I honestly thought Judah was brain damaged or some ****. I was like NOOOOOOOOOOO!! Shane Mosely vs Vernon Forrest I thought Mosely was invincible before the first fight. Seeing him lose was hard to believe. And I remember being pissed as hell after the 2nd fight because I felt he had won that fight. Maybe if I saw it today i would think differently The Troll 03-16-2005, 10:32 PM Golota Vs. Lennox Lewis I still think that Golota only got blown out because of that injection they gave him before the fight. The man was conspired against I think. Holyfield vs. Toney was also a pretty sorry fight to watch even though I have never considered really Golota or Holyfield heroes of mine.
