The eight rays never implied that it was just Christians that revolted. Religion had nothing to do with it.

You muslims make a big deal out of everything.

during that time the muslims were located in mindanao, so it is a big deal when southern mindanao is included in the flag.

why not also include cebuanos then? i'm sure they also fought the spaniards.. how about other places also?

changing it at this point of time is irrelevant i guess, no offense to our muslim brothers in mindanao..

the three stars represented us all, it's luzon, visayas and mindanao.. that alone defeat the purpose of the sun's rays..

i find nothing wrong with it..

sa tingin ko kulang pa yang ganyang symbolism para matanggal ang negligence na natatanggap ng ibang mga rehiyon ng bansa..historical recognition lang ang magagawa nyan.. sana full force..
education and livelihood din..
sana start lang yang symbolism na ganyan kasi di naman mabubusog ang kaisipan at sikmura ng mga kababayan natin.

Yeah i don't disagree with that. Im a chrisitian living here in mindanao. Muslims are great people. Pero syempre tulad ng christians na dami ding tarantado meron din sila. Pero usually ang tarando sa kanila yung mga uneducated lang. Pero sa pangkalahatan Muslims are good people.

The eight rays are geographic in significance, not religious, and frankly,
there are quite a few provinces who resisted but aren't represented
with a ray.

Scholars from those provinces don't whine about it because invariably,
the "unrecognized" resistance was only generally related to the specific
revolution (there were several over two centuries) that clearly led to a
geographically-significant declaration of independence.

Again, the rays are geographic in significance, not religious.

The fact that you're asking for a ray "for Muslms", and not "Mindanao",
is bull****. There's already a star for Mindanao, and I don't hear the
Aglipayans, Roman Catholics or Freemasons asking for special distinction
and THEY arguably can claim a more direct hand in the declaration of
independence than Muslims can.

this is all for politics i guess.

i dont agree w/ it. leave the flag alone, everyone is represented already. there is no religion in the flag. much like the US flag, it represents states but not denomination, race, religion, etc...

personally I believe this is for honoring what the Muslims have contributed to the country.
first off, ano ba sinisymbolize ng 8 rays, ayon na rin sa aking chikiting na 6yo, the 8 rays symbolizes the province that fought valiantly to against the Spanish regime, they are Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Manila, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga and Tarlac.

but before all of this, the first to resist colonization was LapuLapu, a Muslim chieftain.

ang motive ni Gordon dito is to unite the country kaya gusto nya bigyan ng parangal din ang mga Muslims(take note, nde geographical ang isang to), because he believes that the Philippines will go far with all its citizens united. the flag is just the first step though, the next will be up to everyone to have a common goal para lang sa ikabubuti ng bansa.

kung gastos naman, id rather pay for amending the flag than buy weapons to kill each other, much like the case now. long term investment tong amendment ng flag but for a common good and long term goals. as far as i know, the government has been in war with the Muslim separatists for so very long, and yet wala pa ring nangyayari naman eh. long term peace?

yeah why not, amending the flag is not for getting Muslim votes only. hell id rather have the government use some of its funds for this to get Muslim votes rather than put up stupid commercials for campaigns! "akala mo petics yun pala mali", "kapag maganda ang puno, maganda ang bunga", "sss"? all bunch of crap, if you ask me. amend the flag... that's telling more to it than stupid jingles.

IMHO :D

There is ZERO evidence that this "Lapu-Lapu" was Muslim.
You can't show me ANY primary material suggesting he was Muslim,
because it doesn't exist.

Dick Gordon is a ****ing moron, who gets
people killed in the name of getting his name in the press.

Gordon has created a new issue where there was none.
Magiging source of further ill-will pa if the flag isn't altered.
Kung i-alter naman, do you think think the separatists will lay down arms
and be happy Filipinos? Nuh-uh...

So you're saying the flag as it currently is excluding southern Mindanao? Get the **** outa' here!

Why does it always need to be about appeasing the Muslims?

Leave the flag alone.
