What's up with Mayorga losing and losing badly to Tito Trinidad and announcing a brief retirement then coming out of his brief retirement and getting a shot at the WBC title? Nice country this USA.

Castillejo probably past the requirements to choose an opponent. And Mayorga is within the top ten by the WBC (his fight against Tito was at the middleweight). I mean Barrera had a crack of the WBC belt against Morales, didn't he? Or could also be all business.

Yes, but Barrera was coming off a win when he challenged Morales. Mayorga is coming off a KO loss and then sraight into a world title match!

Who is Mayorga fighting? I thought he was fighting a journeyman for his comeback fight.

He was KO'd by a great fighter, if Mayorgas up for the task than there should be no problem, even after a loss, hes done more than enough to warrent a title match, infront of an mandatory, who doesnt have half his record.

still it would probably be better for Mayorga if he beat up some bums like the Rock did to get his confindence back up. The loss to Tito ****ed him up in the head, you can tell.

I'd rather have him get a title shot than a guy like Cosme Rivera.

He was also sloppy in that fight. I think if he woulden't of have opened up his chin like he did and allow Trinidad to land so many shots he could have had a chance. When he did that Trinidad hurt him and he just got a beat down.

Mayorga more than deserves this. He lost his belt at 147 and never got the rematch. Moved up 13 and lost. He still should be highly ranked for his destruction of SixHeads and his 2 victories over Vernon Forrest.
Saying that, i think he should at least have 1 fight after his ko-L
1L

true, but does any one else think that he shouldn't come back at championship level quite yet, not because he doesn't deserve it but because it would be good for him to get some easy wins.

Easy wins are for guys with little-to-no confidence, Mayorga is supremely confident, he definitely deserves any title shot that he receives.

Mayo is the man and I think he deserves a shot at a title. He'll get the victory and once again be praised for his no nonsense kill or be killed attitude. You just gotta love the guy.

But from what I heard, that lost to Tito kinda wake him up a little. I heard he fired some members of his camp because they don't push him enough and let him do what ever he wants. And now trains harder than before. I'm not sure if it's true though.

It's hard to imagine a well trained, non-smoking and non-drinking Mayorga.

Whatever Mayorga does:
It would not be in the best interest to challenge for:
"The Welterweight Championship of the World".

That is one belt that he has no chance at achieving.

I think a fight with either:

J.C. Candelo, or Marco Antonio Rubio would be nice. Or even the winner of Joval/Vargas.

other than that:

I think people's nipples get hard when they see him do the

"Windmill".

Ive posted this somewhere else, but here it goes. Mayorga is fighting WBC champion Castillejo(Spain). Castillejo was named the undisputed champion by default, because he was the interim WBC champ, and now that winky has gone to middleweight, he has the crown. Im a big Mayorga fan, but i think the beating he took will make him a better boxer. Im hoping he is working on his boxing skills like Rubio did. After Rubio got KO'd by Jantuah(misspelled?)he worked really hard at improving his boxing skills, Rubio was known as a big punch fighter. He showed some major improvement against Candello. Looking forward to seeing mayorga again!

I thought I heard somewhere he was arrested for rape charges. What happened with that?

not to hijack this thread:

but Rubio/Candello was a decent fight. I was picking J.C. for the upset:

That was not the case. Rubio, like you said improved tremendously;
and I look for him in bigger fights. He is a decent fighter;
and you could draw some similarites between him and Antonio Margarito. Lanky hard straight punchers, 1 dimmensional however.
