Klitschko-Rahman off again?
By Alessandro Ferrarini
It looks like the April 30 heavyweight clash featuring WBC king Vitali Klitschko versus ex-champ Hasim Rahman at the Madison Square Garden in New York City, USA, might have suffered its final blow. After weeks of negotiations with sudden changes of scenarios - and a final deal definitely reached only last week, Vitali apparently suffered an injury which will prevent him from fighting in April. A source close to Team Klitschko in Europe told *********.com that the fight is canceled but no official reaction has been issued from the United States yet.
....I hope it's not his back again or he could be out a while. Not what the heavyweight division needs right now.
AintGottaClue 03-13-2005, 09:38 AM I have a bad feeling vitali;s injuries when he was a kick boxer have caught up to him.. its either his leg or maybe its his hand.
wanna bet someone will say vitali ducked rahman?

...He has had issues with his hands recently against Sanders and Williams. I thought they were broken in the Sanders fight but it turned out they weren't. He just throws so damn many punches that connect to hard heads. I am afraid that is hands are starting to become a serious issue if they haven't already.
AintGottaClue 03-13-2005, 09:43 AM well rahman doesnt have such a good chin 2 shots and he can get rid of rahman fast :p hopfully he will fight he aint getting any younger
mcnabbmcnow 03-13-2005, 10:24 AM Is it canceled for good or just pushed back a month? I hope it is not canceled for good...this stinks. I don't mind that it is not April 30 because I had to go to a late wedding that day in Maryland...
they dun kno yet for sure. it says sources from europe, no word from US yet
Enayze 03-13-2005, 11:37 AM There might be a chance that Vitali could fight afterall. Maybe not as serious as we think.
ejk22 03-13-2005, 11:41 AM This fight has been a ****ing mess from the moment it was announced.
BrooklynBomber 03-13-2005, 12:04 PM I can pretty much tell you that the rumor is bull****.
One of my boys recently saw BIG V and V said he will fight as planned. Dont believe what press says, its the same guys who said Lennox is coming back.
Craig#1 03-13-2005, 12:08 PM if these 2 were to fight i think Rahman would stop him in about round 6 or 7 because iv'e seen recently with Vitali that he get tired at like after the 4th and veteran Corrie Sanders rocked him in 4 or 5 so thats what i think and also if tua were to come back and fight big Valuev and if he took care of him i think he could be back in the hunt for a contender spot for one of the big titles.
Dr.Depravity 03-13-2005, 12:15 PM How many times have we seen this before.
Wether its an unpopular fight or the moneys not right, Someone always comes down with an injury.

good point
Marjoh 03-13-2005, 01:23 PM I won't believe it till both side confirm it.
joeboxer 03-13-2005, 01:50 PM I will believe that this fight is going to happen when these guys get in the ring. Not before, we are getting jerked around way too much.
IwatchBoxing 03-13-2005, 02:16 PM I hope Rahman gets to fight Samual Peter, that would be a great fight :boxing:.
Neuraxis 03-13-2005, 02:18 PM He pulled a muscle in his thigh while running.
Klitschko Pulls Muscle Running, Rahman Fight Off April 30!
By G. Leon
March 13, 2005 - Sources from Team Klitschko have informed **********.com that WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko pulled a muscle in his upper thigh running. Klitschko's injury will sideline him for two or three weeks and has served as the final blow to his on again, off again April 30 showdown with former undisputed heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman, who confirmed to **********.com that the fight was indeed off for April 30. **********.com will continue to keep you updated, until then, Remember where you heard it first! (1:10 PM ET)
Fareastwarrior 03-13-2005, 03:23 PM ****, that is really disappointing, cause I was looking forward to this fight. This means that I have to wait a while to see them later this year to rumble, cause HBO will definitely be involved for a new date
joeboxer 03-13-2005, 03:28 PM maybe Rahman could get Bryd now.
AintGottaClue 03-13-2005, 03:49 PM yikes a leg injury thats not good for vitali, he's getting older and his leg was injured pretty bag during kick boxing, i hope its not true this rumor or maybe its a mild 2 week injury or soemthing a new date would be ok
joeboxer 03-13-2005, 04:41 PM According to Max Boxing the fight is not off but has been postponed. Hopefully they can be ready in June according to the Klitchco camp.
With the depth at HW, I would be sick if
Max Key (http://boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=003813)
Won a title.
Amazing. Chris Byrd knocked him out in the 1st round.
Great chin. Great.
enadeus 03-13-2005, 04:49 PM They will probably push the fight back to May.

good job reading the post in front of you.
Vitali is hoping for June at the earliest.
SacTown1 03-13-2005, 04:59 PM Vitali Quit-schko will look for any excuse to delay his fight with The Rock, it's an HBO marketing and strategic tactic to make the lesser-yet-highly-motivated fighter wait for their moment of glory....DeLaHoya faked a hand injury to get his Vargas fight pushed back and it worked out perfectly for the Golden Boy, HBO will let thier poster-boys get away with these tactics every couple of years.
joeboxer 03-13-2005, 05:01 PM Interesting viewpoint, possibly true except that he has a legitmate history of leg problems.
And if Oscar was really faking about the hand injury then how come he fought Bernard Hopkins with 3 day old stiches in his hand.

There was about a 2 year gap between the Hopkins and Vargas fights, yeah Oscar had a history of hand problems, but he would have delayed his Vargas showdown until September regardless of his health, DeLaHoya wanted to make Vargas wait until September to get Fernando over-hyped and over-exhausted (Vargas had 2 full 12-week training camps leading up to the fight, Oscar basically had 1 1/4)
joeboxer 03-13-2005, 05:27 PM That is f'd up. I still like Vargas and hope that he is the one to take down Hopkins, even though that is almost an impossibility.
Truth 03-13-2005, 05:31 PM Rahman actually had a chance of pulling off the upset, too bad this is off now. I hope we will still see it in the future.

It isn't off its postponed.
Klitschko-Rahman Postponed
Dan Rafael of ESPN.com is reporting that the WBC heavyweight title fight between champion Vitali Klitschko and number one contender Hasim Rahman, scheduled for April 30 at New York's Madison Square Garden, has been postponed due to a pulled muscle suffered by Klitschko while jogging on Friday.
No revised date has been given for the championship bout, though Klitschko adviser Shelly Finkel told Rafael that he hoped the bout could be rescheduled for June.

Thanks, I thought it was off completley...
TheFairPole 03-13-2005, 06:50 PM Man, I can't believe some of you think that Hasbeen could actually beat Vitali! Hasbeen lost to a washed up Holyfield and a hugging queer in Yawn Ruiz! He knocked out Glass Meehan and now your all on his nuts! He got knocked out of the ring like Nintendo's Ring King by Glass Maskaev! This fight will be more one sided than the Williams fight because Hasbeen could never stand up to those shots that Williams was taking. And Vitali doesn't have a glass chin like Lewis so forget about the 1 punch KO, which is Hasbeen's only chance! So it looks like he has no chance now doesn't it!
