Stalaggh 09-23-2009, 05:09 PM http://www.mmabay.co.uk/crocop%20retires.html
MMABay has been informed by a source close to the situation that Croatian knockout, Mirko Cro Cop has brought down the curtain on his mixed martial arts career following his most recent loss last weekend.
According to a number of Croatian MMA news sites, Cro Cop's manager, Zvonimir Lucic spoke to his training partners, Igor Pokrajcom and Sasa Mučnjak, this week to inform them that the camp will be disbanded based on the heavyweight's decision not to fight again. They were given their final payoff.
Cro Cop's decision to quit mixed martial arts will not come as a surprise to many after reading his post fight comments this week. The once feared striker admitted he had lost his drive and desire and had been finding it difficult to pull the trigger.
We wish him all the best and thank him for the memories.
GoldenBoy23 09-23-2009, 05:13 PM Mmabay is notorious for BS stories so i wouldnt believe it yet. I hope its true though

kymira 09-23-2009, 08:47 PM Its sad to see one of my all time fav's hang it up, Especially after painfully watching him @ 103. But thats life, and Mirco has finally accepted it aswell. Good bye Mirco and thanks for the memories!

MJ406 09-23-2009, 09:03 PM much needed.
now only if Bob Sapp would retire as well (he's becoming more of an embarassment these days)
Move BRICKS™ 09-24-2009, 02:13 AM Cro Cop flipped MMA upside down, as soon as it seemed like the ground game would dominate in PRIDE, the guy emerged as a threat to anyone. Nobody wanted to stand with Cro Cop, the guy truly is a legend in the sport. Great career with some awesome memories.
:fing02:
I was actually hoping that he could fight a bum, get a victory and retire.....hehe
Mr. Shen 09-24-2009, 02:41 AM do you think 50 years from now people will be talking about cro cop like people talk about fraizer and liston now adays or do you think it would be more like how people talk about ali now adays. i mean in 50 years how do you think the guys at top of the ladder will be remembered?

Yeah, hes got too many highlight reel KOs, plus he is the only one who made Fedor go all the way against him. If Fedor gets talked about, which he will, Cro Cop will be there as the hardest competition to him, said so by Fedor himself.
Mr. Shen 09-24-2009, 03:06 AM Yeah im just thinking there hasnt their been many mma guys that have retired. I mean mma just started with in the last 10 or so years so there hasnt been that many people to leave that i can think of off the top of my head. it would be a shame if some of these people wernt remembered well after they left the sport.
Left2theliver 09-24-2009, 03:11 AM well, considering his last few outtings...i think this was a smart decision...
The HayeMaker 09-24-2009, 12:03 PM they are all retiring. im glad he has retired because when he gets knocked out by a guy, who in is prime, wouldnt have reached the second round with him beats him its time o retire.

yup he's past his prime. he's slower now and the power is not with him anymore.

Lmao at Cro FLOP being remembered in such prestige,Liston and Ali were the greatest of their era's and didn't flop when it mattered most.
for the love of god,Did you really just post that comment?
What the hell is wrong with you?
besides, people will care less about mmGAY in 50 years time,It is nothing but a fad remember?
back to sherdog with you.

Of course Fedor will claim Cro Flop was his toughest opponent,He's hardly going to claim Ricardo Arona(The man who was robbed of a decision against Gaydor) was his toughest opponent.
TheCheetah 09-25-2009, 10:50 AM As he should retire...

always good for a chuckle
kswizzy99 09-26-2009, 12:25 PM I think it is the appropriate time for him to retire but a selfish side of me would have loved to see him have a go at the LHW division. He was always a small heavyweight and a lot of his losses were due to his lack of size. the LHW division would have suited him better IMO, but oh well, great career nonetheless.
