View Full Version : Does Hopkins and Oscar really want the Taylor fight?
Im not trying to call X scared but Oscar is doing some shady stuff and X is letting him get away with it. Oscar is turning into one of the nastiest promoters in boxing. He tries to get all of the money for himself
There was supposed to be a deal for Hopkins to fight Taylor and probally in June 11 instead of the Gatti fight. Taylor was going to fight X for 1.5 million but then Oscar said that to get the fight he also gets the rights to Taylor's next 3 fights. How shady is that? Taylor of course said no, as his team and management has been very good to him. He might wouldve took it if they wouldve gave him more then a measley 1.5 for the Hopkins fight. If anyone else did this we would call them a punk, so why not Hopkins? Obvioulsy he couldve had Oscar made the fight if he really wanted to

doesn't matter...taylor is the future....personally i think taylor will clean the middleweights...then have a blockbuster fight w/lacy
Dr.Depravity 03-12-2005, 11:00 PM Oscars just trying to drum up business. Taylor was smart to decline. All roads will end at him in the near future.
Is beating a game Joppy all you have to do:
to be considered "one of the best" middleweights?
because Raul Marquez was fighting when Jermaine was in Middle School. He is a good prospect, but this "Bring on Hopkins" is corny.
Jt will be top fighter eventually just not now.
Famoso Matador 03-12-2005, 11:43 PM I think that Taylor has had some pretty good fights, but he is too green right now. And maybe DLH new that, and was testing his bussiness savy. With hopkins taking very little risk against his opponents, i could see him counterpunching Taylor all day and turning it on towards the end. I see Hopkins UD victory against Taylor. With Hopkins only having a few fights left, i think he is looking for Mega fights with the likes of Trinidad or maybe even Sturm. Though i see Sturm in the same class as Taylor. .... Sturm Vs. Taylor that would be a good fight.
SweetScience 03-13-2005, 03:08 AM Taylor IS "chinny".
Look for him to get KO'd when he faces a puncher. He's been feed feather-fisted fighters and that makes me believe he's hiding something. I really don't think he can take a good shot, only time will tell.
Rocky Juarez another guy, he's been fighting shot fighters to look good but not really getting anything from it. I don't know how good Juarez is but I'm guessing he's not that good.

Larry Merchant is a good avatar for you. You duplicate his synical style very well. Hope you are not as drunk as him though.

I don't drink buddy, I rather have a protein shake then drink a beer. AND by the way, I'm not talking out of my ass, if you can see it then that's fine. Time will tell the truth.

I didn't say or mean that you talk out of your ass. I just ment you were not a nuthugger.
I think Laryy Merchant is funny and has good analysis. If you think he talks out of his ass, why is he your avatar?

I just have had this avatar since I joined this board, the drunk old bastard just caught my eye.
Nuthugger - I just hate that word, we are in this together.
marvdave 03-13-2005, 09:44 AM Hopkins will fight Taylor if the money is there..bottom line. At this point, Taylor would be a fairly easy fight for Nard.
AintGottaClue 03-13-2005, 09:55 AM all in all there just ducking sturm
RipTheJacker 03-13-2005, 09:58 AM Be jus a little bit harder than the last one early. Jermaine's youth and reach could make for an upset. A good jab will tire an old man quick. Only problem for Taylor is how he kept the hand too low tthe last fight. Best believe Nard was watching.
RipTheJacker 03-13-2005, 10:00 AM all in all there just ducking sturm
Sturm is a 'live' one but don't think Hopkins is ducking anyone.
Hard Nard is buisness scorn and will make it hard for anyone who is anyone to get a fight with him.
marvdave 03-13-2005, 10:03 AM all in all there just ducking sturm
no, I think they are all ducking Marvin Hagler.

i would duck hagler to :x.
Oscar wont let hopkins fight sturm ever

you right, but not for the reasons you think. Sturm brings nothing to the table as far as money. Nard only wants big money fights...and Sturm isn't that.
borikua 03-13-2005, 12:55 PM I think that Nard is the one that calls the shots bout his career, Oscar is just the one with the money that will help him make the fights he want..
Nard won't fight Taylor next cuz he knows that Taylor could fuk his plans of fighting the winner of Trinidad-Wright...I hope they fight cuz I know that Taylor can beat Nard right now, with his speed he could outbox Nard for 12 rds, And if Taylor beats him everyone will want to see Taylor vs the winner of Trinidad/Wright..
Hops and Oscar would love to have Taylor, tomorrow. Ain't gonna' happen though 'cause Taylor just isn't experienced enough, yes not experienced. Depsite everyting he's achieved to-date, he's still not faced truly tough guys.
AintGottaClue 03-13-2005, 02:47 PM oscar doesnt want hops to fight sturm cause if sturm wins oscar is gonna look very bad
