#4: Weigh-Ins & Press Conference I

Izumi had to take all of his clothes off to make the weight earlier today at the SENGOKU X weigh-ins. While he said that it’s no problem and he slowly dropped some weight in the sauna beforehand, his face looked fatigued at the press conference.

Izumi also said that he still hasn’t decided whether or not to wear his gi tomorrow. He has received direct permission from singer Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi to use one of his songs as his entrance.

While Izumi has said before that he wants to stand with Nansen, today he said that he will decide if it’ll be a stand-up fight depending on the situation tomorrow, It’s still 50/50.

The arena and date of the SENGOKU New Year Event is planned to be announced at the event tomorrow. Ishii and Yoshida will attend and will stand before the audience in the ring tomorrow as well.

8. LHW: Hiroshi Izumi (93kg) vs. Antz “Notorious” Nansen (92.6kg)
7. HW: Antonio Silva (121.1kg) vs. Big Jim York (114.8kg)
6. WW: Makoto Takimoto (75.3kg) vs. Lee Jae Sun (76kg)
5. LW: Kazunori Yokota (69.8kg) vs. Ryan Schultz (69.5kg)
4. LHW: Ryo Kawamura (92.4kg) vs. Fabio Silva (91.6kg)
3. WW: Dan Hornbuckle (74.9kg) vs. Nick Thompson (75.9kg)
2. MW: Takenori Sato (83kg) vs. Joe Doerksen (82.7kg)
1. LW: Maxi (70kg) vs. Tetsuya Yamada (69.9kg)

#3: “Bigfoot” Clear To Fight In The U.S.

Antonio Silva arrived to Japan on the 21st where he will face Big Jim York in a Heavyweight match. Silva’s impression of his opponent is that he possesses very powerful and explosive strength. He wants to decide the fight by KO or submission.

About a future fight with Josh Barnett, Silva said: “I definitely want to win this fight and try to have a go at him. I have three championship belts at home so I want the SENGOKU belt as well.”

Silva is currently weighing 122 kg. Last time he fought in Japan he was 128 kg. Silva said: “For one thing, that the Heavyweight limit in America is 265 pounds (120 kg) is a big reason (for the drop).”

Silva says that he is now clear to fight in the U.S. (from July 27th) after the steroid suspension and he says that he’s currently in talks with various promotions in the U.S. (UFC and Strikeforce?).

About Satoshi Ishii, Silva says: “He’s a flawless judoka. MMA is a different game but he’s a very enjoyable fighter. I trained with him at American Top Team but he’s one person I’d definitely want to try and fight. If he continues to build experience it will probably happen someday.”

#2: Nansen Arrives

One half of the SENGOKU X main event, Antz “Notorious” Nansen, arrived to Japan today where he talked with the press. Nansen talked a little about being a street fighter in his hometown when he was young. He’s 26 years old and fights out of the Elite Thai Kickboxing gym. His kickboxing/muay thai record is 14-1-1 and his Boxing record is 3-1.

6 weeks ago Nansen won the Muay Thai WKBF Super Heavyweight title, his third WKBF title (he also won the WKBF Super Cruiserweight and Heavyweight titles). Nansen says that his opponent for that fight was more than 20 kg heavier than him. He won by TKO in the 4th after cutting his opponent open with an elbow. The cut needed 36 stitches.

Nansen says that he started training MMA since around the beginning of this year and he thinks he has made the transition well. He also thinks that street fighting and MMA have some common features.

About his opponent, Izumi, it seems that Nansen has heard about Izumi’s talk about keeping the fight standing. “He’s saying that he wants to decide the outcome of the fight standing? If that’s true that’s what I want. That way is more interesting, and as a striker I’m looking forward to it.”

Nansen ended by declaring a knock out of Izumi with his left.

The first link I posted gives the fight time for every timezone (assuming the link's acurate).

It says 5am Eastern, and 6pm local Japan time (which sounds about right).

I can't be sure though, if you have other info I'd like to know.

Yeah, well my point is I wasn't really sure of the time because it was just a random link I found. I was trying to figure out the time actually.

If it's live at 3am EST on HDNet that's probably more realiable than the random link I found so I guess I'll try tuning in then.
