Pretty comfortable victory I thought, despite the SD.
Didn't look to have evolved too much, but proved once again that if you don't have the power to keep him away.. he's going to walk you down and bust you up.
Who's next for the Great K?

that SD was utter BS.... shoulda been a CLEAR UD...
good fight for michael, he did show some better defense... i was surprised he only had two minor cuts
next fight... if JMM moves back to 135 its gonna be them, and i dont see him standing a chance really

Yeah bit of a dodgy split decision, I guess it makes up for the one he got against Diaz though.
Escobedo was a bit tougher than he looked. With his soft looking torso and neatly trimmed sideburns he didn't strike me as the boxing type. He copped a fair bit of punishment, especially those vicious rips to the body.
Good wins for Katz, kinda highlighted how one dimensional he is though. I think Marquez takes him to school.
On a side note, I was chatting to a relative of Katz at the pub. He suggested that Mike would only be having 2 more fights before hanging up the gloves.

Katsidis is Australia's version of Arturo Gatti! A real gutsy effort from Kats who fought hard for the full twelve rounds always coming forward and taking it up to Escobedo.
Glad to see Kats getting the big fights, fighting on the Mayweather v Marquez undercard and now facing Marquez for WBO Lightweight Title. This should be a cracking fight between two Champions. Can't wait!

I doubt that will go ahead tbh. I know the WBO have said that they are going to enforce it but I think it is far more likley that Marquez vacates his belts at 135 and drops down to 140 to take on Hatton.
If the fight does happen to come off it isn't ending well for Mick. Marquez just has way to much skill for Kat. I see it being a relatively one-sided fight in which Katsidis starts strong but just gets countered way too much and ends up getting stopped late by Marquez.
Katsidis' only chance is if the drop back down in weight hurts Marquez a great deal and takes a lot out of him. Not out of the question but overall fairly unlikely.
