View Full Version : Cotto takes the June 11 date DLT 03-11-2005, 12:34 AM I told all of you before that I dont understand why Cotto is fighting Chop again. Chop is my boy but I want to see Cotto fight Harris. ME123 03-11-2005, 12:37 AM I think we will see a whole complete different fighter in cotto. More defensive, more tactical. what do you think IwatchBoxing 03-11-2005, 12:44 AM Well everybody wanted to complain, wine, now we have to see him fight Corley again, while his fight with Harris is terminated, only cause Corley took a knee, and the ref saved him from being KO'd 10 sec's later, great going guys  . borikua 03-11-2005, 12:46 AM The article says that it might be Corley or Abdullaev...I would prefer it to be Abdullaev to avenge the robbery from Sydney, but I won't be mad if he fights Corley and knocks his ass...again. I rather see Chop then Abdullaev. I think Chop still has a chance but I just rather see Cotto fight Harris so we can find out how good both of them really are DLT 03-11-2005, 01:00 AM Well everybody wanted to complain, wine, now we have to see him fight Corley again, while his fight with Harris is terminated, only cause Corley took a knee, and the ref saved him from being KO'd 10 sec's later, great going guys  . Thats what you say but most boxing experts say that the Harris fight is terminated because Cotto didnt look that good and they are scared to put him in with Harris right now borikua 03-11-2005, 01:15 AM I rather see Chop then Abdullaev. I think Chop still has a chance but I just rather see Cotto fight Harris so we can find out how good both of them really are Abdullaev is pretty good himself... Mech. 03-11-2005, 01:19 AM Id rather see Abdullaev, just to see cotto in there with someone else, i dont think theres really anything intresting about a rematch with chop. This sucks, i was really looking forward to cotto/harris.blah DLT 03-11-2005, 01:20 AM Abdullaev is pretty good himself... Yeah I know. I wouldnt mind it I guess but I would rather see Chop because as all of you know, I thought Chop would do well but there was something I was way off on. I knew that Cotto would have the weight advantage but I actually thought that Cotto would be like 154 and Chop would be 147 so when I saw the weights for the fight, I said Oh NO :) By the way, I think it will be closer to that weight next time or atleast I hope Mech. 03-11-2005, 01:21 AM Thats what you say but most boxing experts say that the Harris fight is terminated because Cotto didnt look that good and they are scared to put him in with Harris right now I see your point, but then a chop rematch isnt exactly a safe bet either, well at least chop gets more money for all them kids. borikua 03-11-2005, 01:25 AM Yeah I know. Tha Greatest 03-11-2005, 01:33 AM I Hope Vivian Knocks Out Cotto Go Harris psychopath 03-11-2005, 02:45 AM There are so many other good fights out there for Cotto . . . if a possible fight with Harris is confirmed out then why fight Chop again? Go for the real thing . . . go for Gatti! DAMN too much circus acts. :boxing: jayschre 03-11-2005, 03:13 AM I really am curious to see what weight Cotto comes to the weigh-in at, to me that will say alot about how much longer he stays at this weight, cause if he struggles as hard this time and it still takes 2 or 3 tries then he may move up after the fight which would really suck cause then no Harris fight AGAIN! I really think that Cotto wants Corley again as opposed to Abdullaev or however you spell it, while I'm sure avenging his lose as an amateur is a big deal to him, a stronger showing against Chop in a rematch is imo very important to Cotto, as well as 99% of Puerto Rico! the giant one 03-11-2005, 03:53 AM how bout linking a source for this news? ********* aint saying **** about Cotto taking the date Moonra69 03-11-2005, 06:26 AM In my opinion there are many excellent fighters in the division that are sort of avoiding to fight each other for records sake. That is why is so hard for fighters like Cotto to challenge these champs. Cotto brings too much risk to the table. A true warrior should fight the best fighters available and even if he does not win, the fans will respect him for doing so. In the mean time Cotto has to fight again with Chop until the Gattis, the Mayweathers and company make themselves available, that is, when it is inevitable for them to take the risk. AintGottaClue 03-11-2005, 10:28 AM corley would beat coto this time Soldier01 03-11-2005, 11:38 AM corley would beat coto this time I'm going to have to disagree with you on that. I don't think that there's going to be any temple shots this time around. Expect the usual patient breaking down the body Cotto in that ring come June 11th. I believe he learned that he has to focus on the guy in front of him rather than pleasing the crowd. jack_the_rippuh 03-11-2005, 11:44 AM Cotto will most likely beat him again and look more impressive doing so than the last time, but the only reason why is because it his second chance at fighting him, and he sees what Corley brings to the table now. I said it once and I'll say it again, if it was someone else in the 140 division Cotto would have been KO'd, but he'll be exposed in due time. He showed us that last fight that he is susceptible to being shocked.. BrooklynBomber 03-11-2005, 11:55 AM Damn, no Harris fight? I want to see Cotto with somebody who can actually crack a bit and have some skill. Alsoo as a fan of Harris it really hurts me than he wont fight anybody worsy in due time. Soldier01 03-11-2005, 12:00 PM Cotto will most likely beat him again and look more impressive doing so than the last time, but the only reason why is because it his second chance at fighting him, and he sees what Corley brings to the table now. I said it once and I'll say it again, if it was someone else in the 140 division Cotto would have been KO'd, but he'll be exposed in due time. He showed us that last fight that he is susceptible to being shocked.. That's true but, Then again it's not that hard to KO someone after a temple shot like that. i don't know why Corley didn't but come on it wouldn't be that hard. there had to be more of a reason of why Corley didn't go in there and finish him off. He must of felt something in that ring that we didn't feel thru our T.V screen??? Anyone can get shocked at any point and time. No one is immune to that. guru 03-11-2005, 12:26 PM i think Abdulaev would have a real good chance at beating cotto..... oldgringo 03-11-2005, 12:46 PM I highly doubt that any of you will see Cotto come into another fight like he did against Corley. He usually fights at half of that pace and takes half the punches that he took against Corley. It'd be very interesting to see how Cotto deals with Harris' range though. mic573 03-11-2005, 12:51 PM If Cotto didn't fight Corley again everybody would be talking **** now that he is willing to fight Corley again everybody doesn't want it. oldgringo 03-11-2005, 12:56 PM If Cotto didn't fight Corley again everybody would be talking **** now that he is willing to fight Corley again everybody doesn't want it. Exactly. Double edged sword that's unfair for Cotto either way. AintGottaClue 03-11-2005, 01:03 PM i want the fight again cause coto isnt gonna have 4 times to make weight and im hoping he aint gonan be 20 pounds more liek a middleweight and there is gonan be a experned ref and corley is gonan bring it cause he wont be paid to lose this time bigdlb12 03-11-2005, 02:16 PM I dont care who he fights, but if he happens to fight corley again, I think this time they both know what to expect of course - the 20 lbs semjasa 03-11-2005, 02:55 PM Cotto is a chinny fighter and a disaster waiting to happen.... jack_the_rippuh 03-11-2005, 03:30 PM Well fans everywhere, and especially in Puerto Rico, made him out to the next best thing since Félix Trinidad...In the "Chop Chop" fight everyone held him to that standard and he kind of failed them. People are always going to remember what happened in the the Corley fight, just like how before Roy Jones Jr. loss twice people were always talking about the Lou De Valle knock down using that as a reference when they said Jones had trouble with southpaws.. mic573 03-11-2005, 03:35 PM Well fans everywhere, and especially in Puerto Rico, made him out to the next best thing since Félix Trinidad...In the "Chop Chop" fight everyone held him to that standard and he kind of failed them. People are always going to remember what happened in the the Corley fight, just like how before Roy Jones Jr. loss twice people were always talking about the Lou De Valle knock down using that as a reference when they said Jones had trouble with southpaws.. I don't see how Cotto failed when he pretty much won every round of the fight. riz 03-11-2005, 03:44 PM IMO cotto will KO all 3 CAN't BE IN PR THO Boxingfan81 03-11-2005, 03:51 PM Cotto will most likely beat him again and look more impressive doing so than the last time, but the only reason why is because it his second chance at fighting him, and he sees what Corley brings to the table now. He showed us that last fight that he is susceptible to being shocked.. ANY fighter is susceptible to being shocked... What a dumb comment! jack_the_rippuh 03-11-2005, 10:29 PM ANY fighter is susceptible to being shocked... What a dumb comment! You must be a Cotto fan.. He should have shown his greatness the first time around, while he knew nothing about Corley's style. Of course he's going to win impressively in the rematch. Knicksman20 03-11-2005, 10:52 PM This fight showed all of us why Cotto's been a protected fighter. When he fights a top guy with some skill & more pop in his punches than Corley, he'll get KO'ed. tommo 03-11-2005, 11:40 PM i love cotto but i admit that demarcus probably deserves a fair shot.He will lose again no doubt but a rematch is good for everyone.Watch MetalVomit 03-11-2005, 11:49 PM I told all of you before that I dont understand why Cotto is fighting Chop again. Chop is my boy but I want to see Cotto fight Harris. They NEED to fight again. That stoppage was suspect and that referee was a joke. They gotta fight again. Mech. 03-12-2005, 02:54 AM They NEED to fight again. That stoppage was suspect and that referee was a joke. They gotta fight again. Wouldnt you rather see him fight someone else tho? I kinda wanted the rematch too,at first, but now Im expecting a boring fight, unless corley goes for temple shots,or cotto leaves himself wide open again.Cotto/Harris, thats the ****!,lets see that, cotto already showed he could beat chop under these circumstances: Fighting a stupid fight/and getting rocked, surviving with two minutes left in the round, cotto HAS to move up,and soon, so i wish he'd hurry up and fight other great fighters at his current weight, why waste everybodys time with a Chop rematch, nothing against chop, but really cotto should be moving on, and if he did,and dominated, then nobody would care about that chop fight anyways. PapiShasho 03-12-2005, 06:00 AM You must be a Cotto fan.. He should have shown his greatness the first time around, while he knew nothing about Corley's style. Of course he's going to win impressively in the rematch. no, more like you just hate cotto, or dont know boxing. or both. getting shaken up once from a perfect temple shot which you dont see is nothing to be ashamed of. jack_the_rippuh 03-12-2005, 02:50 PM no, more like you just hate cotto, or dont know boxing. or both. getting shaken up once from a perfect temple shot which you dont see is nothing to be ashamed of. Well in the 2nd fight he'll definately know what to look out for, but my question is what's he going to do the next time he ups his competition and doesn't know what to "look out for"? (against the likes of Hatton, Harris, Tszyu, Mayweather, Witter, etc.) |
