View Full Version : Date set for Danny Green- roy Jones Jr fight
King Flawless 09-17-2009, 01:29 AM AUSTRALIAN Danny Green's fight with American boxing legend Roy Jones Jr will be staged in Sydney on December 2.
The Acer Arena fight for the IBO world cruiserweight title will be eight-time world champion Jones's first outside the US as a professional.
NSW premier Nathan Rees claimed the fight would be the biggest ever staged in Australia.
Green won the IBO cruiserweight title in Mississippi last month with a victory Argentinean Julio Cesar Dominguez, his third world title in separate weight divisions.
Jones Jr will be vying to add a world title at the only weight to elude him from middleweight to heavyweight in his illustrious career.
Rees said the fight was a huge coup for Sydney and would kick off "super week" for the city which also features Greg Norman's appearance at the Australian Open golf championship, the V8 Supercars event at the new Homebush street circuit and concerts by Cold Chisel, Fleetwood Mac and Green Day

How many will the Acer Arena hold?
Oh yeah, Flawless, fuk off and die in a ditch somewhere. You useless cunt.
mgkirkpatrick 09-17-2009, 02:18 AM Foxsports streamed the whole media conference live.
Was kinda painful listening to Danny trying to give the press plenty of material with pre-rehearsed bullshit.
He seriously makes me cringe with his 'I'm a fair dinkum, aussie battler with a ton of mongrel' persona
mgkirkpatrick 09-17-2009, 02:19 AM Roy Jones by complete and utter domination
boxing_great 09-17-2009, 02:34 AM **** I wouldn't mind seeing the v8's at homebush!

Yeah I'm totally over Green, he's full of shit.
The biggest fight in Australian History....well that wouldn't be because of him if it ends up being that.
brently1979 09-17-2009, 06:02 AM Roy Jones by complete and utter domination
I really hope so. I hope Roy use a real treat by boxing Green silly.
brently1979 09-17-2009, 06:10 AM I'm going for sure to see this fight...only to see The Great Roy Jones JNR
mgkirkpatrick 09-17-2009, 08:10 AM I'm considering a road trip down.. depending on the undercard..
Clegg 09-17-2009, 11:25 AM I think Roy should retire, but if he is deciding to continue then it's a shame that he's wasting his last bit of talent of Sheika, Lacy, Green et al. Maybe it's better that way, as it reduces the risk of him getting beaten, but it's pointless as a sporting spectacle IMO.
If Roy wanted a recognised belt, he'd be better of going after the likes of Erdei, Campillo or Steiglitz (sp?).

Hey Clegg, how you been? Haven't seen you around the boards much the last couple of months.
I agree by the way. Roy is done and has nothing left to prove and, as I understand it, has no money problems. Fighting guys like Sheika, Lacy and Green is beneath him. Still, I get to see him so I can't complain too much.
