I've been meaning to come here and say hi to everyone as well. And i think this is the right thread to do it in. I am a Cotto fan, but Manny is my 2nd favorite fighter. I used to live in Cali from '85-87, and the cultural diversity was very refreshing after living most of my life in a small northeastern town, filled with small town minded people, some good, some not. Just like everywhere.

I loved seeing the Arabs with their White robes on and headbands, and i thrive on a variety of culture, especially darker skinned peoples, as they are usually native to their respective countries, and are much older and very much richer and deeper in culture, which, as a former jazz drummer, have studied in school and with 2 pro jazz drummers so i can understand the music better.

Since i joined this forum, i have made a few friends, many of them pinoys. It took me a while to understand exactly what that meant and the significance of the Phillipine people. My best bud on the forum is pinoy, and I'm sure he will post after he sees this. Some of you know I got off on the wrong foot with someone in the past, but we have worked out our diff, and I am very glad of it. We are good and are respectful of each other now. You know who you are...:-)

Since then i have enjoyed even a more abundance of friends, many of them pinoys and i didn't even realize it, i didn't realize it because racially, i am color blind. I also want to say that if Cotto wasn't what he is today, I would most definatly be a pacfan. You can dig up my posts and you will see i have never put Manny down, and have great respect for his accomplishments, and i absolutly go nuts watching him go into a frenzy when he fights as the action gets more intense.

He is the epitome of the tasmanian devil. To watch him in his humble beginnings rise up to be the p4p best fighter there is, I can see why you guys think so highly of him, having brought so much fame and respect for the pinoy community and the Phillipines. Like i said, him and Cotto are my 2 fav boxers, and i am exstatic about this fight.

In all my posts re; this fight, i have never made any predictions, because they both bring great skill to the table. I am glad to see that Fredie has touched base with Manny and all that controversy about him not communicating with Manny, and his brother dying, Manny not paying respects, he didn't even know.

And when he did find out, he did so with much respect. That's one of the things i like about Manny, he's a humble guy, and that's hard to keep when you have come so far in life. I understand humility, and it's difference from humiliation. Manny is humble, and doesn't mouth off, likewise for Cotto. I see both as pretty humble irregardless of their fame and fortune. Though neither is w/o a great sense of pride, as a poster above me from PR has pointed out he found some things in common in his experience.

It took awhile for this all to get established on the forum, for us to read, but I'm glad to hear everything is ok now, cuz i don't want either guy to have any distractions, and come in at their very best, which seems now will happen. I also have to admit, i admire the pinoy community because of your loyalty and respect to each other. If only the USA had that, we wouldn't be such a corrupt screwed up nation. I am a progressive, loyal to no political party, cuz their all corrupt here.

When i see the tight frindships pinoys have with their friends, pinoy or not, I just have to respect the hell out of that, cuz it's a bit rare where i live. It's a pleasure to be a member of this forum and to be making online friends with all peoples, black white, brown, green, blue...lol. Like i said, I'm color blind.

My drum teacher, now deceased, was a proud black man with a black belt in karate. He was like the father i never had. He taught me about a lot of things, especially other peoples cultures, which are very vital to a jazz drummer to understand as best he/she can, because you can't play the music if you don't understand where it comes from.

So it was that i came to respect such diversity many years ago. I just didn't expect to experience it the way i do in, of all things, a boxing forum. It's really a mind opening experience for me to communicate and see the interaction here and exhuberance for Manny, who has brought so much to your nation.

It's really nice to enjoy my presence in the forum and to talk almost daily with my bud, who is pinoy. I have lived with blacks, browns, some of my best buds have been black, brown, and i see more depth there than with whites, which i am. And it's great to see all cultures mesh on this board. I hope i don't sound like a kiss-ass, but i sincerily have wanted to come here for a while now and express what i feel and think.

I have never been so excited about a fight in my 40 years of watching boxing, and I am grateful to Manny for giving Cotto a shot at greatness and putting to rest so much speculation that clouds his past....IF he wins. Manny has great heart.

I just hope for a good clean fight, no headbutts, low-blows, or any dirty tactics, (of which i really don't see a need for either guy to resort to....Manny has all the tools to win this fight. Maybe easily. But then again, Cotto is not w/o his chances either...hence such excitement, arguing, debating, betting....etc. I think it's the fight of the decade.

On that note, i want to thank you for your time in reading this long post, (been building up a while...lol.) and i wish both fighters luck on Nov 14th, may the best man win.
Respect,
jaz

Now i have to try to delete this post in a different thread...

I'm here to reply on your excellent post and vouch to my fellow pinoys that you're one of the best posters here at BS. I know I was the one that you had a tiff with before but it’s just my way to make a thread a little more interesting. By the way, I put your username like clockwork when I’m giving good karma. Again, thanks for posting here at the pinoy lounge. :fing02: :)

Back atcha Talisayen, and thanks for the kudos. I do the same now for you and Pac-Boy with the green k, you rabble rouser! :joke:
Free speech wasn't one of the tings i was expecting coming from some semi-anal computer forums where if you even swear, you get reported and banned. So i was used to that.

And yeah, you do liven things up...lol GL on fight night, my friend. :fing02:

edit; my drum teacher that was like a dad, he had an audition with Miles, but Miles liked Tony williams better. oh, well.
