Who would you say, have the most heart right now, on a list.

Of the top of my head, I would say

Gatti
Jirov
Joppy
JMM
Mosley

I think your list is pretty damn good there. But I think Vargas should get some respect for even surviving that Trinidad fight. Tito also showed a lot of heart he always comes to fight. Maybe Chris Byrd for being such a small guy and fighting all those huge monsters. Maybe Deigo Corrales. I know a lot of people come down on Frietas for quitting like he did against Corrales but most fighters would not have got up from the frist knockdown which was brutal never mind 3. And probably one of the most obvisoul has to be Glen Johnson getting screwed over so many times and he still comes back for more.

I say that Gatti has quite abit of heart, but after I saw the Arnaoutis - Roberto Santa Cruz fight I would have to say Cruz in a land slide, he almost won and was the supreme underdog O.o

1-Gatti
2-Mayorga
3-B-HOP(fought for years to be recongnized and respected)
4-MAB

NOt on list and why(not heart):
Tito:pulled that retirement crap and waiting for hopkins to get old
-
DLH:mostly in it for the money and playing that body shot by hopkins as if it were a bullet but mostly about the mney and when he had chance to prove himself(tito fight)he ran like a *****

One thing to point out:

Hopkins shoulder was dislocated in the 6th round of the Echols fight. He continued through the pain, and does have alot of heart.

Joppy has no heart. A fighter with heart wouldn't run once the going got tough. Fighters with heart go by the saying, "When the going gets tough, the tough gets going." Not running, in William Joppy's case. If he had any heart he would have stood and fought Taylor and did his best to win....he gave up after he saw Taylor was to strong him.

Joppy has no heart.

That right there my friend. Is borderline ridiculous. He hangs in there with everyone he fights, taking serious beatings in the process. If you say that he did not show heart in the Hopkins fight, your television set might have been off. Like Vargas, Trini knocked him down 3 times.

Vargas should also be considered one that has alot of heart.

I suppose the Taylor fight would be a bad example though, however, I feel he was frustrated.

It's also the most recent example....
He's done as a top quality fighter..

That is the only time I can recall Joppy doing something like that however.

I would have to say DLH has some heart and he certainly did not show it against Tito..

At least Joppy hung in there when the going got tough.

Oscar De La Hoya stopped fighting for the glory a looooooong time ago. He's all about the money..

Besides...I can't think of too many fights where he had to show heart and determination to win (don't count losses)....He showed heart against Quartey..

True about DLH, but I would like to say though.
He showed heart against Vargas to some extent.

As far as Joppy.

Joppy is far from finished as a prizefighter. Whoever he fights next, if he does; had better not underestimate him. More than likely it would be against someone like Sturm or abraham. Both of which I think he can beat.

Yeah, absolute pea heart that guy. Not that you quoted this but I'm not sure that Mayorga has a great deal of heart? Just no brain.

Erik Morales and Barrera have a lot of heart...as well as Wayne McCullough. Little guys in general.

Klitschko (Vitali) has a lot of heart...

I overlook that. He knows what he can and cannot take and if he had to quit he had to quit. I know Hopkins fought with a dislocated shoulder and other guys have fought with a bunch of fractures and ****...but if your shoulder/arm is so ****ed that you think you've had enough then go ahead. I mean, why would he quit otherwise? He was destroying Byrd and knew all he had to do is jab him to death and stay away. He wouldn't quit unless he couldn't go anymore IMO.

Yeah, but the thing what really makes the quitting look bad is that he told Larry Merchant he thought Byrd was winning the fight at the time he quit. Some people can see that as, "Well, I'm losing anyway, no need to get my career ended over of this lost cause, the guy is just too quick and elusive."

I didn't know the part about telling Drunken Merchant that he thought he was losing. The only aspect of the whole thing that I questioned before was why he'd quit on a guy like Byrd. Byrd is slick and all but he ain't gonna end his career with his punching power or anything. Just move and shoot the jab once and awhile...ah **** I dont know.

I suck specific lists because they take me forever, so five guys I think have a lot of heart are:

Mosley (that forrest 1 fight alone gets him on there)
Vargas
holyfield (still refusing to retire, might be stupidity more than heart)
pacquiao
mayorga

i agree with holyfield, more than just stupidity, i think it's suicide

the other four:
marquez, that mother___ deserves some credit
trinidad, alot of times knocked down but still wins, except vs BH
gatti, time and time again never ceases to impress me
of course manny pacquiao, i'm kinda being bias here

That is an excellent list. You are talking about:

Juan Manuel of course? And adding Jirov is a no-brainer.

Why Jirov? Im curious. I have only seen one bout of his where heart came into question and that was Mesi.

Watch his fight with Toney, Letterlough, and Castro.

Toney in particular was bombing him with weapons from a Stephen Spielberg movie. Forget his iron chin, he has hurt. he continued to fight; completely unconscious. He endured rough house tactics in all of those fights and plodded like a robot.
