Rick Reeno 11-21-2004, 01:00 PM BoxingScene's very own Sammy Rozenberg caught up with Oscar De La Hoya at the Mosley-Wright rematch in Las Vegas and spoke with him regarding his move to the welterweight division, future opponents and the partnership with Hopkins. julDilla 11-21-2004, 09:29 PM good thing hes going back to 147, take spinks out well now we know hes not going to fight mayweather jr. he still would of beat mayweather up being the bigger man, wow im so glad his coming back to 147 to get rid of bums, you guys thing the weight gain and lost is going to affect him like it did to jones jr.
good thing hes going back to 147, take spinks out well now we know hes not going to fight mayweather jr. he still would of beat mayweather up being the bigger man, wow im so glad his coming back to 147 to get rid of bums, you guys thing the weight gain and lost is going to affect him like it did to jones jr. Good question, obviously none of us really knows until that time comes, however the difference in the way Roy and Oscar is that Oscar usually walked around below the weight limit in the class he was fighting in, there isn't such a huge drop off compared to Roy Jones.
I would like to see him fight spinks, he could wipe him out and take over at 147. After h takes out spinks how do you feel he will do against people like TZ and Zab. i personally think he can beat them both. i dont think there is anyone at 147 that can mess with DLH
dpfinley 11-24-2004, 04:23 PM I think he will drop the weight over a long period of time to make sure he doesn't hurt his body. He would take out Spinks and Zab, but the KT fight won't happen. I am glad he's moving down, otherwise, I'd think he wouldn't go anywhere at heavier weights.
xoalvinox 11-26-2004, 12:20 AM I'm glad he's going back down in weight. 160 and even 154 was too much for him. At 147, his punching power will be evident and plus, his chances of getting KTFO again will surely be diminished greatly.
maxpayne 11-26-2004, 02:01 AM im glad oscar is going down to 147 he has a lot a fights at that weight and he could move up to 154 to fight winky. i hope he drops his trainer for his next fight. i think he will have no problem loosing that weight.
abdiel2k3 11-26-2004, 02:33 AM ya im not so sure it will effect him as it did roy
he may lose some foot speed and all
but the diff big diif is
roy was comin from fightin way bigger guys to fightin bigger guys
and oscar is comin down from fightin bigger guys
to fight same size if not smaller guys
plus hes the golden boy
hope he takes them belts from spinks
abdiel2k3 11-26-2004, 02:35 AM o forgot to say also
another diff is that oscar has already said tha he walks around at about 150
so he should easily be able to make 147
xoalvinox 11-26-2004, 11:54 AM It'll be interesting to see how Oscar operates in the ring when or if he does return. We all saw how Roy was gun-shy after his KO loss. Seems like Oscar is too preoccupied with Golden Boys Promo and his wife to be boxing at an elite level.
plexmc 11-30-2004, 05:25 PM good thing hes going back to 147, take spinks out well now we know hes not going to fight mayweather jr. he still would of beat mayweather up being the bigger man, wow im so glad his coming back to 147 to get rid of bums, you guys thing the weight gain and lost is going to affect him like it did to jones jr.
i feel u on that
psychopath 11-30-2004, 09:10 PM That's a very wise decision. No so many fighters are that smart to admit his physical limitations . . . go . . go . . De La Hoya!
Xecutioner 11-30-2004, 11:38 PM poor winky wright, will he ever get his shot to earn 10 mil+ fighting oscar? :D oscar chills at 154, passes him up for shane and vargas, then passes him up for hopkins, now is going back to welterweight lol
jack_the_rippuh 11-30-2004, 11:43 PM Yeah, but the fight he really wants is Tito Trinidad, so maybe Winky might get his lucky break.
sean2079 12-03-2004, 05:04 AM DLh will dominate the welterweight division, i think.... :)
