Let's hear who you guys think will make the final 4.
Who has the best chance to win it all? Will Illinios stay undefeated?
Who are our college hoop fans?
I hope to have a large group entering the Ncaa basketball tourney pool.
GO GATORS!!! GO HEELS!
SonnyG8R 03-06-2005, 04:12 PM Wow, Ohio St. just knocked off Illinios!!
Wow, Ohio St. just knocked off Illinios!!
...Yep, my Buckeyes dumped em. Illinois will still get the top seed probably. Kentucky is now in danger of not getting a number one seed. They are gonna have to run the table in the SEC tournament and then see what happens. Duke is up on Carolina too baby!!!!!
SonnyG8R 03-06-2005, 04:46 PM You'll be entering the Boxingscene tounament pool, right pbds?
My very very early final four is:
UNC-Illinios-Gators-Louisville
Obviously the Gators are a homer pick, but today proves that this team has the ability to go far when they play to their full ability.
SonnyG8R 03-06-2005, 05:01 PM UNC up by 6 at the half.
So let me ask you guys. What do you think about the John Cheney situation? I thinbk he is a disgrace and should be fired. The guy tried to strangle John Calipari a few years ago and now he instucts his players to go out tan injure the other team. What an *******!!
oldgringo 03-06-2005, 05:22 PM Georgia Tech all the way baby....
SonnyG8R 03-06-2005, 06:22 PM UNC beat Duke in yet another classic battle of these archrivals.

....Yeah, nobody brings up the Calipari thing anymore. Cheney is a *****. You think he would have talked that **** to Bobby Knight? He pics on the smallest coach in college basketball. He is a ****in idiot.

This team is going places.
Congrats to Matt Walsh, MVP of the SEC Tournament!

Congrats to Matt Walsh, MVP of the SEC Tournament!
....They are peaking at the right time I will say that. If Kentucky gets a number one seed it's a ****in crime. I expect them at a 2 and I don't think they deserve that. We may have 3 ACC teams with number one seeds.
oldgringo 03-13-2005, 03:33 PM It's almost sad how Ga Tech was robbed down the stretch.
JJ Redick (aka Michael Jordan according to the refs) received the luckiest, ugliest call I've ever seen. The foul should have gone against him for pulling Bynums jersey off.
Luke Schenscher is a ****ing ***** and should be kicked off the team because women cannot play on a mens college basketball team.
Jarrett Jack is ****ing incredible. He's certainly up there with Marbury and Price...and probably the most complete player between the 3 of them. :hijacked:

that was one BS call...
SonnyG8R 03-13-2005, 03:40 PM Jarret Jack is definitely impressive. I was rooting for tech.
F-Duke. They probably will steal a #1 seed now that Kentucky has lost. I'm not sure Wake should be a #1 though. It's a tough call. Maybe Louisville?
I think the gators have probably improved to a #4 seed.

SonnyG8R 03-13-2005, 04:38 PM Wow, this is some crazy ****:
BOSTON -- Boston College guard Jermaine Watson jumped from a second-story window to escape gun-toting masked men who burst into his off-campus apartment, police said.
Watson cut his ear and left hand early Saturday. He sat out practice that day but coach Al Skinner expected the senior to return to the court Sunday in preparation for the No. 7 Eagles' first-round NCAA Tournament game this week.
"He said he's OK and he wants to play," Skinner said.
There were no arrests in connection with the raid, which appeared to stem from a dispute during a party at Watson's apartment.
Athletic director Gene DeFilippo said the school is investigating, but Skinner said Watson most likely will not face punishment by the team or school "because he's the victim."
"I don't think he's done anything wrong," Skinner said.
Police were called to Watson's apartment in Boston's Brighton neighborhood to investigate a disturbance. A woman claimed she was pushed to the ground after she refused to leave the apartment and end the party, police said.
About an hour later, police returned after neighbors heard a fight break out. The second-floor apartment was vacant but in disarray, police said. Watson and a friend, who were found hiding in nearby bushes, told police four to five masked men brandishing guns, knives and baseball bats entered the apartment.
The Eagles are to gather Sunday evening on the campus to learn their opponent in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
Watson averaged nearly 10 points and more than 3 rebounds this season for the Eagles (24-4). Boston College lost 78-72 to West Virginia on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament. BC shared the regular-season title with Connecticut but finished 4-4 after starting 20-0.
Dr.Depravity 03-13-2005, 05:11 PM What is it with college sports and crime?
Oh now I remeber too much alcohol and not enough maturity. :D

.....Duke steal a number one seed???? I would have them as one of the faves to win it all. They should have whiped Carolina a week ago with a double digit lead with like two minutes remaining and got screwed down the stretch. Year in and year out they are one of the best teams in college basketball and coach K is the best in the business by far.

...The number one seeds should be Duke, Carolina, Wake, and then Illinois. The ACC rules!!!!

is it because yahoo is busy?
EDIT- it is asking for a group id# not the group name.
SonnyG8R 03-13-2005, 07:19 PM Yeah probably. You have to figure millions of people are trying to make their picks right now.
BTW, The ACC is great. But no way in hell did Wake deserve a #1 SEED. I'm glad they didn't get one. That Syracuse region is absolutely sick.
SonnyG8R 02-13-2006, 11:10 AM Time again to give props to my Florida Gators again. We destroyed kentucky last week 95-80 and the game wasn't even that close! The Gators are 23-3 over all and 7-3 in the SEC. The one purplexing thing is that we beat very good teams like Kentucky, LSU, Wake Forest, Syracuse, etc. and yet the ****ty South Carolina game****s give us fits.
Anyway I am proud as hell of these young kids. Nobody expected them to even be a top 25 team and they are one of the top teams in the country vbecause they are just that... A TEAM. No egos, no ball hogs, just a bunch of kids doing their part and working together to make the team the best it can be.
medium-deek 02-13-2006, 11:37 AM "Duke-UNC is coming up". This game was on TV last night in the UK around 4 am.

Get my points ready *****...... We will see.
SonnyG8R 02-13-2006, 01:22 PM UT > UF > UK
That's arguable. You did beat us head to head in Knoxville. We shall see what happens on the 22nd in Gainesville.

SonnyG8R 03-05-2006, 02:20 PM That's right folks, it's that time again. the Florida gators have once again kicked some serious kentucky ass.
Gators - 79
Kentucky - 64
Gators finish regular season 24-6 Heading into SEC tournament.
SonnyG8R 03-05-2006, 03:35 PM LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Joakim Noah had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead Florida (No. 14 ESPN/USA Today, No. 17 AP) past Kentucky 79-64 Sunday, giving the Gators a fourth straight win over the Wildcats for the first time in the 79-year history of the series.
The Gators won for the first time at Rupp Arena since 1998 and clinched second place in the Southeastern Conference's Eastern Division and a first-round bye in the conference tournament this week. Kentucky, third place in the East, will have to play on the tournament's opening day for the first time since 1979.
Kentucky (19-11, 9-7) lost on Senior Day for only the fifth time in 86 years.
The Wildcats seemed to have turned their season around with an 80-78 victory Wednesday at East champion Tennessee. But Florida (24-6, 10-6), which has three near 7-footers in its lineup, presented matchup problems all afternoon for the much-smaller Wildcats.
Noah, who had a career night with 26 points and 11 rebounds when the teams last met a month ago, was again Kentucky's biggest problem. Late in the first half, he had more rebounds than the entire Kentucky team.
Joe Crawford was the star for the Wildcats with 21 points and Randolph Morris had 14 points. But Kentucky connected on only 38 percent of its shots and was outrebounded 39-27.
Florida's 14 turnovers and poor 3-point shooting early were the only things that kept the Wildcats competitive. But Lee Humphrey's back-to-back 3s midway through the second half ignited the Gators, extending the Florida lead to 14. Humphrey led the team with 17 points, including four 3-pointers.
Kentucky was trailing by three with seven minutes left in the first half when Rajon Rondo tapped the ball from a Florida player, dived to the floor after it and called timeout just before he slid out of bounds.
Rondo's hustle appeared to wake up the Wildcats. Brandon Stockton's 3-pointer on the next possession tied the game at 24, and another 3 by Ravi Moss four minutes later gave Kentucky its first lead.
But Al Horford's dunk just before halftime made it 34-33 Gators at halftime and started an 11-2 run that would stretch Florida's lead to 10 early in the second half.
Kentucky coach Tubby Smith started his four seniors -- Patrick Sparks, Preston LeMaster, Brandon Stockton and Moss. All are Kentucky natives but all also are short guards, allowing bigger Florida to get off to a 5-0 lead before he could make substitutions.
Kentucky hadn't lost four straight to an SEC school since Tennessee accomplished the feat from 1979 to 1980. The Gators' 24 wins ties the 2002-03 team for the most wins in program history heading into postseason play.
With a victory, Florida plays in the SEC quarterfinals Friday night in Nashville. Kentucky faces Mississippi in the first round Thursday.
....How bout those Buckeyes baby!!!!!
SonnyG8R 03-05-2006, 05:13 PM ....How bout those Buckeyes baby!!!!!
Yeah, they won the big 10 outright didn't they?
Listen we need to find somebody trustworthy and impartial to run the tournament pool this year. blood**** has half the members on this site locked out of his threads, and he's completely unreliable. Maybe you (pbds) or the fix or old gringo can set up THE REAL boxingscene tourny contest when the brackets come out next week.

...Sounds good, and I'm sure we can figure it out. I bet OG would definitely be interested and if not then I will take it and run with it. We definitely need a "real" tournament pool and not one run by a total jagoff.
Boxerdog 03-05-2006, 11:54 PM Isn't 7001 sporting a sig that claims O.G. renegged on the Superbowl pool? Last time I looked it was still there.

...I wouldn't put much stock in that. If he didn't pay it's because he overlooked it or something. OG has given away billions and billions to people on this site. I don't think he would be worried about a few million.
SonnyG8R 10-20-2007, 09:10 PM Year after year this thread just never gets old!!
That's right, once again the Florida gators have kicked the Wildcats in the nuts and sent them home crying. The final score was an 8 point victory but it wasn't even that close. the gators gave up a td in the final seconds that they were not even rushing the passer or covering the receivers because they knew they already had the game in hand.
And with UT and SC losing the Gators are back in the drivers seat for the SEC East.
I'd like to give props to Alabama as well. That was some ass wuppin you laid on the Volunteers
Jimmy The Gent 10-20-2007, 09:16 PM First time I've seen the Gators and their QB is something else Tebow, I was also impressed with Dicky Lyons the Wildcats reciever

Kentucky does have a very good team this year. I could easily see them beating the likes of Penn State or Michigan in the Capitol One Bowl this year. They are just not in the same league as UF. And yeah, Tebow is a freak...

Its not even as if when he's rushing its like a QB rushing he just gets stuck in puts his head down and hits hard, i really don't know how thats gonna work in the long run with him taking hits like that, i only just watched my first college game last week, but it looks like the top teams are the same colleges that I hear about on this site alot

I love the NFL, but for me college football is the greatest sport in the world! Tim Tebow is literally one of a kind. he isn't a qb/rb like Vince Young or Michael Vick. he is a QB/FB. Nobody has ever seen anything like him before. a 250 lb qb who runs straight up the middle and carries 4 guys on his back for 8 yards.

yeh it surprised me then I heard one of the commentators saying he benched 400lb's. I'll still prefer the NFL anyday but college football is good, the only two main differences I see are that kickers don't kick nearly long enough and the QB's throw a lot of dodgy looking passes

...I just don't know quite what to make of him beyond his college days though. He is a freak for sure. Good thing for the Gators, seeing as their defense gives up 500 yards a game.

All the better for the Gators. Hopefully he will stick around for 2 more years beyond this one. I saw you Buckeyes had a bit of a scare today. Gave up some late td's on turnovers and almost blew the lead...

...It really wasn't that close though, but they still pissed me off. They left **** loads of points on the field today and they are lucky it didn't come back to haunt them. Beanie Wells ran for like 230 yards. Our QB still sucks.

SonnyG8R 01-19-2008, 11:35 PM Great game being played right now. Florida had it won in regulation but a ref clear across the floor overrules a ref right under the basket. WTF?? Anyway the gators appear to have the game under control here in OT. This will make the 7th straight win for the Gators over the Wildcats in hoops. Longest losing streak to any team in Kentucky's history!!! Nick Calathes is the real deal.
Let the good times roll.
