On another thread me and another guy got talking about what other fighters in non industrialized countries make compared to americas fighters. He stated that they did not make much money for fighting in these non industrialized countires, I say that we do not make much more in the states. Heres the break down of how a purse gets divided up and what the fighter is left with.

Say that you signed a contract to fight a 6 round bout in one month for $1200. Now you start training spending $5 a day traveling expense to and from the gym 6 days a week. You do this for 3 weeks and find that your opponent has pulled out of the fight with an injury (it happens more than you know) so you keep training and line up a fight for the same amount of money and rounds that is 5 weeks away. The fight comes through, you fight and win and get your check. Then this is what happens to the money from that check.

Purse .............. $1200
Now the deductions
Uncle sam........... $ 396.00
(generally 33%)
Manager............. $321.60
(40% after taxes)
Trainer............. $ 80.00
(10% after taxes)
Corner + cutman..... $ 80.00
(2x5% after taxes)
Training expense.... $240.00
----------
$82.40 net profit

Its a ***** going home with stitches in your eye and bumps all over your head to earn an extra $82 for the fight. Luckily, it was in the contract that any medical would be taken care of. These guys do it all the time. Thats why even when a guy makes it to fighting the top guys but gets bombed to the canvas I still take my hat off to him. Its not an easy road, they deserve atleast some respect, if not alot of respect......Rockin'

I just figured for a 1.2 million dollar purse the fighter would walk with around $322,000. Alot of money but not what you might think they bring home. Don King has his fighters train at his training facility and charges them like $15,000 a week from what I was told by one of his champions. say they trained there for 6 weeks preparing for a title bout, that $90,000. Which would leave that 1.2 million at $232,000.
What a con man.

you get the chance to stand up and be a positive influence in your neighbourhood.

for many people its a ticket to bring change and decency into a community.

and in these days of cultural and moral degredation - these things are worth more than gold!

your right prince, there are non monetary things that a fighter recieves and delivers to a community. A good and positive influence in a rough part of the city is great for the youth as well as the adults, more so for the youths of the area. The thing is that when many fighters make the money they are out of that community quick, they return hopefully to give something back to the community, but they leave as anyone would. To a nicer area with less crime and a better place to raise their children. And your right again with the degrading of the culture and morality, they shine a light that may bring people to believe that they can make a change for the better. I'm sending some karma your way for bringing good insight into my post. Thanks man...........Rockin'

It's not an easy job at all. But not everyone can be an elite fighter.

Attacking another Human being physically would be considered a good foundation for morals? Boxing does not need morals. Boxing needs cruel individuals who appear "sociable" on the exterior. Inside they are full of rage and hate for reasons unknown. Hence the fact the robot in my signature has a major chip on his shoulder, his pride embarrased by PBF: Now he is a relentless, violent, killing machine who has no regards for his opponents safety in the ring. Dont get me wrong, he does not hate that individual; he is just programmed to eliminate them at all costs.

Teaching a child those kind of morals would degrade our society.

Nah, I think the guys who KO'd him are more responsible for his rage..

all fighters are not neccesarily violent people. They know when they should fight and when they should not fight. Obviously you dont have many first hand experiences with fighters in their outside the ring lives. Sure some are crazy and violent but most are very gentle guys outside the ring. For example, Joe Louis, Sugar Ray Robinson, I was with Tom "Boom Boom" Johnson for a while and he was a gentle soul, kindest person you'd want to meet. I grew up with fighters, they are not all bad. Your working off of a stereo type that does not fit all fighters.

We all have different reasons and demons that persuaded us to step into the ring, but thats why we are there. To deal with those feelings and aggressions and to get them out in an honorable way instead of beating some slug down in the street. How many fighters have you come to know in your day?...Rockin'

That as well. Those Knockouts happened in JLC's beta mode. He was improving in version 1.0. Version 2.0 fought Mayweather and was robbed. v2.02 is a machine with a clean slate.

no!

it all boils down to supperiour training methods.

knifenut; you can be as crude a beeing as you like - what it all boils down to is when you climb into the ring, facing an estonian whos been trained by a professor in boxing from the university of petersburg, who also collaborates with their olympic javeling team- youll be knocked the **** out :) fast.

youll go home to where everybody hates you cause of your personality,

and the estonianll return to his neighbourhood where hes a hero for cleaning up the place from alcohol and bad idaels and influences in the first place.

knocking you the hell out would be just part of the cleaning process :D

Rippuh,

Your talking about a fighters mind here, what motivates him to fight. You are speaking of something that you have no knowledge of and will never learn by watching the fights on television. Fighters are very complex people, with different reasons that they would put themselves through such tough experiences in the ring.....Rockin'

Dude, I have utmost respect for you and for all the fighters who risk their lives for the sake of boxing, regardless of the money that they receive off of it. Goodluck in your journey and keep updating us with regards to your career and your progress.

I thankyou for your words but I am finished fighting now. I actually just took the associated boxing commisions test to start refereeing in the pros. Ive been reffing the amatuers for the last few years, but am looking forward to the pros. Im glad that you appreciate what these fighters go through and for such little money, for the most part.........Rockin'
