View Full Version : wtf..is gatti and mayweather fighting or not dino 03-05-2005, 07:29 AM ive been been on BS in 3 days..so i come to see the site and i see 1 topic "its off" then its on..then its off..wtf..what is the final answer Marjoh 03-05-2005, 07:40 AM It's OFF. Though Gatti is still fighting on the reserve June 11 date, just not against Mayweather. emole123 03-05-2005, 07:52 AM Yes it is off. Gatti will be fighting on June 11th on HBO in AC but not agianst Floyd, since Top Rank could not get Floyd to sign a contract by a deadline that has been extended many times. Sn1 03-05-2005, 08:12 AM Yes it is off. Gatti will be fighting on June 11th on HBO in AC but not agianst Floyd, since Top Rank could not get Floyd to sign a contract by a deadline that has been extended many times. well if mayweather had signed the contract hed of needed to free a hand from wife beating duties, and that aint happenin :D Tha Greatest 03-05-2005, 09:41 AM ya thats bull****!! why mayweather be ducking gatti... how is he supposed to be a hall of famer if he doesnt sign the damn contract hatcheeks 03-05-2005, 09:48 AM does this leave the door open for junior witer? lets hope so. come on oscar, get it sorted. AintGottaClue 03-05-2005, 10:02 AM maybe oscar should fight gatti ;) fight fan 03-05-2005, 11:07 AM He isn't happy with the cash!!! 2.5 mil is not enough (poor guy)!!! It's all about money with PBF, remember the HBO contract he declined for millions because he said it was slave wages or some rediculous comment like that!!! He know's that there is plenty of risk fighting Gatti and he won't have none of that without an infated retirement package! FrankJack 03-05-2005, 11:22 AM Man, I'm never gettin my hopes up on this fight again. Words can't accurately describe my dissapointment right now. Guy doesn't wanna fight for 2 mill???? I don't care what anybody else says, but I'd take that money man, guy talkin about some slave wages like people make that on the regular. How he talkin about slave wages and he has the opportunity to bring in that much money and more and other peeps are stuck makin 6.25 an hour, with kids....slave wages? Pissed me off, for real..... RobbieD 03-05-2005, 12:02 PM Now maybe people will understand why us British are so behind Calzaghe and Hatton. Hopkins, RJJ and Vivian Harris refused huge pay days to fight them and yet the Brits still take **** over it. MWCOFSU 03-05-2005, 02:12 PM Now maybe people will understand why us British are so behind Calzaghe and Hatton. Hopkins, RJJ and Vivian Harris refused huge pay days to fight them and yet the Brits still take **** over it. Kinda true, but RJJ and Hopkins declined because they dont trust foreign soil. I admire what Kostya is doing, but its still doesnt make it the champs obligation to travel into the challenger's backyard. Plus Kostya has simply had a different upbringing. He's fought all over the world already as an amatuer. He's used to fighting in other's backyards. Maybe Calzaghe should learn how to swim and quit hiding behind Frank Warren. Jump out of the pond(shallow) end when you're ready to swim. jack_the_rippuh 03-05-2005, 02:31 PM Well, it looks like Mayweather feels like he deserves more than what he's being offered based on his talent and what he brings to the ring. Its a shame that the business doesn't work that way. If a fight against him and Oscar De La Hoya does ever materialize, he's going to have to swallow his pride and take whatever De La Hoya wants to give 'em, because if he's serious about wanting De La Hoya at 147, he's going to have to realize that the way things should be isn't the way they're always going to be (Well, at least that holds true for the Gatti situation.) Yes, I do think he should get 50/50 (For the Gatti fight), and yes, I may be a bit biased because I'm a fan.. juicyjoo 03-05-2005, 03:03 PM :( and I thought these two were gonna break the mold of the marquee fighters avoiding eachother....... Point Being: Mayweather likes to eat New York Strip steak: as opposed to snacking on peanuts. I cant blame him. What would fighting Gatti prove? DLH is 100x the fighter Gatti dreams of being. Gatti is a waste of his time. borikua 03-05-2005, 03:27 PM Who's plan B for Gatti? Cotto...Harris...? lordfaust 03-05-2005, 03:39 PM actually, i'm very new to boxingscene.com, and i wanted to konw who you would bet on for this match (if it ever happens to be^^). Personnally, i think mayweather would win but i'm 100% for Gatti (i really like this boxer and ...i'm french so...). ok: Bets are open! i bet on gatti if he ever box with mayweather (even if lose this bet, i don't care) :fingersx: QueenCity 03-05-2005, 03:50 PM Are you guys kidding me, I missed the news that this fight is now off. Its pretty stupid they've been talking about this fight for almost a year now they need to make it happen MWCOFSU 03-05-2005, 04:17 PM Who's plan B for Gatti? Cotto...Harris...? I'm betting a softball so Gatti can show off more of his new, impressive boxing. I mean if he's still keeping his June date open and its too late to promote a high profile fight with JR...then its safe to say the fight in June isnt going to high profile. aka, no Cotto, Harris, etc. jack_the_rippuh 03-05-2005, 04:29 PM I'm betting a softball so Gatti can show off more of his new, impressive boxing. I mean if he's still keeping his June date open and its too late to promote a high profile fight with JR...then its safe to say the fight in June isnt going to high profile. aka, no Cotto, Harris, etc. Yeah, he doesn't need too much time to prepare to fight a bum.. MWCOFSU 03-05-2005, 04:35 PM Yeah, he doesn't need too much time to prepare to fight a bum.. Maybe a little: Arturo "thunder" Gatti VERSUS DeMarcus "worst finisher of all time" Corley klev1 03-05-2005, 05:25 PM I don't think Mayweather wants him...biggest money fight for him at the moment...y not get it on? jack_the_rippuh 03-05-2005, 05:39 PM It's Gatti who really doesn't want Mayweather. He's playing that "I don't need this fight role." Usually a sign that the person is not interested in the fight.. klev1 03-05-2005, 05:44 PM Speaking of "sign"...it was Mayweather who did not want to sign...I don't get y...I mean...in my opinion Mayweather should be able to handle him...but why didn't he sign??? Their deadline was yesterday I believe at 4PM...if Mayweather wanted it, it was his. jack_the_rippuh 03-05-2005, 05:52 PM Speaking of "sign"...it was Mayweather who did not want to sign...I don't get y...I mean...in my opinion Mayweather should be able to handle him...but why didn't he sign??? Their deadline was yesterday I believe at 4PM...if Mayweather wanted it, it was his. Just like how a Hopkins vs. Roy Jones II fight was suppose to happen, but it didn't, because they couldn't agree on the money. Hopkins wanted it 50/50, and Roy said no. The bottom line is Roy Jones Jr. wasn't interested in the fight, and made it seem like he didn't need the fight.. (But Roy has a better excuse since he did beat Hopkins..) But a fighter who isn't interested in a fight will act as if they don't need the fight and can make their money elsewhere. If Gatti wanted the fight, he would have pushed for it...but deep down inside, he didn't want it.. borikua 03-05-2005, 06:39 PM C'mon Jack stop making excuses for lil ***** Floyd...If he keeps fighting bums he’s gonna get ktfo when he steps to the ring with a quality fighter...just like Roy. wmute 03-05-2005, 09:01 PM C'mon Jack stop making excuses for lil ***** Floyd...If he keeps fighting bums he’s gonna get ktfo when he steps to the ring with a quality fighter...just like Roy. by "just like roy" do you mean "dominate and win 95% of the rounds you fight before being knockout at 35, all of this fighting above your natural weight class"? I bet any fighter would sign in blood for that or you mean like being owned at your second fight above your first weight class? cos this sounds a lot "just like tito" fight fan 03-05-2005, 10:44 PM Point Being: Mayweather likes to eat New York Strip steak: as opposed to snacking on peanuts. I cant blame him. What would fighting Gatti prove? DLH is 100x the fighter Gatti dreams of being. Gatti is a waste of his time. You are out of your mind! There is a big difference between DLH and Mayweather!!!! When Gatti fought DLH, Oscar was bigger and stronger than Gatti. And also, Gatti was not the disciplined fighter he is today under McGirt's direction. Against Mayweather, Gatti will have the power advantage. As a matter of fact, Mayweather will not be able to hurt Gatti enough to discourage him from fighting his fight! I would bet on Gatti! Famoso Matador 03-05-2005, 11:53 PM Mayweather thinks he is hot stuff cause he is undefeated. Says he will fight anybody 154 and under. But he has not faught any big names at 140 yet. I think he should have taken this fight, mainly to show people that he can hang at light welterweight. A big win against Gatti and another title would have opened big pay days for him. He doesnt deserve big pay days yet at 140. He hasnt showed anyone anything. BBFM 03-06-2005, 12:18 AM floyd is scared its not the same as punching his wife... i called that he would puss out before the arturo leija fight.. floyds a ***** and always will be one. joeboxer 03-06-2005, 12:29 AM Floyd might not be scared of Gatti but he definitly is the one who doesn't want this fight. It could be because of a lot of reasons, maybe he is getting lazy or maybe he needs to work **** out with his personal life (girlfriend). But no one should question Gatti. He wants the fight. He waited. He is getting old, he needs to keep his fights going he can't afford to wait forever for Floyd. |
