I certainly don't think so, and plus has he deserved the chance to fight him. I mean in the past 4 years he has had 3 fights.

View Full Version : Can Hopkins beat Trinidad in a rematch? brickhouse187 03-04-2005, 01:13 PM I certainly don't think so, and plus has he deserved the chance to fight him. I mean in the past 4 years he has had 3 fights. boxer2k5 03-04-2005, 01:17 PM hopkins will beat trinidad in a rematch trinidad deserves a rematch as much as robert allen or hakkar one sided fights that last longer than 8 rounds shouldnt have a rematch now if trinidad was able to do something in the fight i would think different spinksjinx 03-04-2005, 01:19 PM No, I would say yes after seeing both of their last performances but Hopkins adjusts to his opponents style. So one minute he can look spectacular the next look crappy (but in a good way) The world will never when Hopkins ages. mic573 03-04-2005, 01:39 PM Hopkins has been slipping in the last few years. It will be more competitive the second time around but I think Hopkins will do enough to win a decision. Hopkins doesn't move as well as he did in 2001 so I don't see him put on another one of those performances. borikua 03-04-2005, 02:58 PM He can, but Trinidad can also beat him in a rematch...It will be more competitive than the first.. scap 03-04-2005, 03:30 PM I agree it will be more competitive and Tito will probably go the distance but he will be able to get very little done because against a slick guy like Hopkins Tito will have his power disconnected. Tito better not worry about NArd right now...if Winky moves a lot in their upcoming fight then Tito is going to have a lot of problems. Enayze 03-04-2005, 03:36 PM Most definately Hopkins can wipe the floors with Trinidad again. Even if Trinidad wins, it want mean anything, because people will say Hopkins is best his best. borikua 03-04-2005, 03:37 PM I agree it will be more competitive and Tito will probably go the distance but he will be able to get very little done because against a slick guy like Hopkins Tito will have his power disconnected. Tito better not worry about NArd right now...if Winky moves a lot in their upcoming fight then Tito is going to have a lot of problems. Winky is just a tune-up like Mayorga was... elveiel 03-04-2005, 03:38 PM Tito would beat Hopkins this time round, if Eastman can make Hopkins run away like a little girl then Tito would punish him. IMO Hopkins is on the slide and should retire at the top, before someone who wouldnt have a chance 2/3 years ago KO's him. scap 03-04-2005, 03:50 PM Winky is just a tune-up like Mayorga was... Go ahead and compare Mayorga too Winky I could care less but you are obviously underestimating Winky Wright. If you think Winky is going to show off his chin too Tito like Mayo did then you are most likely wrong! Your loyal Boruk thats good but there is no doubt that it has clouded your judgement when it comes to your brotha Felix. RwK 03-04-2005, 03:54 PM I personally think the outcome of the fight would be similar to the first one. Hopkins does not like to take any risks, and that showed the first time around. Hopkins would use his boxing ability to move circles around Trini. That is not to say that I would not LIKE to see Trini win. I like Trini much more than Hopkins, whom I have less respect for as a champion. PURO TITO! ps. I hope I will say that if he beats Hopkins in a potential rematch. riz 03-04-2005, 04:11 PM hopkins same result. he'll take his time and pick his shots. theres a reason why he's made 20 defences in a row and at the age of 40, hes one of the best, and hes better than tito juicyjoo 03-04-2005, 04:31 PM Ditto, Hopkins quote "Trinidad? I own that ass" FourPunchCombo 03-04-2005, 04:32 PM Win or lose, Trinidad will be much more competitive. Hopkins has the style to beat Tito's ass nine out of ten times. But when youre 41, even if youre stylistic better than most guys out there, father time catches up. Hops by close decision or Trinidad by late TKO is my prediction. borikua 03-04-2005, 04:36 PM Go ahead and compare Mayorga too Winky I could care less but you are obviously underestimating Winky Wright. If you think Winky is going to show off his chin too Tito like Mayo did then you are most likely wrong! Your loyal Boruk thats good but there is no doubt that it has clouded your judgement when it comes to your brotha Felix. Easy Scap it was just a joke...I know that Winky is a good boxer that has the tools to beat Trinidad...Mayo was no pushover either.. IwatchBoxing 03-04-2005, 04:53 PM Actually both Winky, and Mayorga have things in comen, like both were supposely ropped by a name fighter(Spinks, Vargas), and both beat a fighter with a name 2 times(Mosley, Vernon Forrest). Mayorga- won 27 (23 ko's) - lost 5 - drawn 1 - tot 34 Winky- won 48 (25 ko's) - lost 3 - drawn 0 - tot 51 Both moving up weight too. scap 03-04-2005, 05:21 PM Winky is just a tune-up like Mayorga was... And another thing if Winky is merely a tune up then I don't want to hear you pumping up your boy if he wins big against Winky... after all its just a little tune up fight right? scap 03-04-2005, 05:24 PM I know easy does it...your my favorite Puerto Rican Boruk...I root for your boy Cotto most of the time but Tito is a guy that I love for the sport but I also love to hate him as well...I was sad when he left and now that he is back I will hopefully get to watch him get outclassed and knocked out again. Sure he is going to have some awesome ko's which is great for the sport but I expect an awsome koby somewhere in the future which will be fun too watch... Winky beats Tito (you wanna bet 100K?) jack_the_rippuh 03-04-2005, 05:27 PM He can, but Trinidad can also beat him in a rematch...It will be more competitive than the first.. You're right, it might be more competitive than the first, but the sad thing is that, that's not a result of Trinidad getting any better, its a result of Hopkins getting older.. Hopkins' aging is the only thing what may allow Trinidad to be in the same dimension as him.. Knicksman20 03-04-2005, 05:31 PM In Tito's only comeback fight, he hasn't shown anything different that would even suggest that he could handle Hopkins. If a rematch happens, Hopkins destroys him again because Tito can't outbox or outsmart Hopkins. All better hope Tito can get past Winky because that's not going to be an easy task. borikua 03-04-2005, 05:31 PM I know easy does it...your my favorite Puerto Rican Boruk...I root for your boy Cotto most of the time but Tito is a guy that I love for the sport but I also love to hate him as well...I was sad when he left and now that he is back I will hopefully get to watch him get outclassed and knocked out again. Only 100k? How bout 10mills? bangbangko 03-04-2005, 05:32 PM Maybe Tito learned from the loss. I'd obviously have to go with Hopkins in a rematch, but I have a feeling Tito might be a little bit better off the second time around. BB borikua 03-04-2005, 05:35 PM You're right, it might be more competitive than the first, but the sad thing is that, that's not a result of Trinidad getting any better, its a result of Hopkins getting older.. Hopkins' aging is the only thing what may allow Trinidad to be in the same dimension as him.. Sounds like ur makin excuses already Jack... ChicoEscuelaNYC 03-04-2005, 05:42 PM Hopkins by UD. No KO this time, but what difference does it make? jack_the_rippuh 03-04-2005, 05:43 PM Sounds like ur makin excuses already Jack... At least this excuse is better than the one on why Tito loss the first time. I'm sure you remember, "The reason why he loss is because he was head-hunting, and Hopkins capitalized off of that." Besides, I still think Hopkins would beat him in a rematch. Hey, Borikua, quick question...If Trinidad loses against Wright, will you say it's because he is old? Only 100k? How bout 10mills? You guys can bet in terms of odds. What are the odds, anyway? borikua 03-04-2005, 06:00 PM At least this excuse is better than the one on why Tito loss the first time. Hey, Borikua, quick question...If Trinidad loses against Wright, will you say it's because he is old? You guys can bet in terms of odds. What are the odds, anyway? Of course not, he's not old...and yes it was stupid from him to be head-hunting Nard in the first fight, thats Nard fight goin back and counter.. |
