I'm on the 6th track right now, just kinda vibin' to it, right now. My second listen I'll pay more attention to the lyrics. But I will say one thing, the production is filthy, in a good way. LOL

Hearing it twice I think Cold Outside is the best song so far.

Yeah, "Cold Outside" goes hard, "Have Mercy" is sick too, they should have made "Catalina" a single, it's the most commercial/radio-friendly track on the album.

This album is hot. I was anticipating this release. Music has been kind of stale lately. For some reason the whole vibe of this album is ancient not like they're old but a wise ancient. Will Rate out of 5

Return of the North Star- Really liked this track as soon as I listened to this I got chills and its just an intro! 4/5

House of Flying Daggers- What a song. Dilla beat is nice! Really liked Ghost & INS verse 4/5

Sonny's Missing- Liked the bassline to this song with the horns really tops it. Good story by Rae 4/5

Pyrex Vision- Really chill song. Sounds like he high. Interlude. 3.5/5

Cold Outside- I would like this song more if it didnt have that man singing on half of it. 3.5/5

Black Mozart- Everything is perfect on this song. INS really brings it on this one. Rhymes, beats, samples, vibe. 5/5

Gihad- The beat is really nice Love the chants really carries the song. Ghost is crazy/funny on this song! He shines on it. 4.5/5

New Wu- This song is great. I killed it though listening to it over and over at the gym. 4/5

Penitentiary- Good song. Beat sounds like a heist is going to happen. Some nice interchanges between Ghost & Rae. 4/5

Baggin Crack- Great beat (maybe cause I like EPMD a lot) and nice story from Rae- 4/5

Surgical Gloves- I liked this song. I think the beat is nice it has a catchy lil hook to it. Rae kills it on this one. 4.5/5

Broken Safety- I was expecting the A-ha from Jada. He sounds alright on this song never really got exposed to his stuff. Also has Styles P who I havent heard much. What is this a LOX reunion? 4/5

Canal Street- Was not feeling at all. I dont like the horns or the strings on it. 3/5

Ason Jones- Nice song but it doesnt fit this album. Should of been on 8 Diagrams or a b-side 3.5/5

Have Mercy- The intro was cool. Wasnt feeling the verse by Beans. 3/5

10 Bricks- Really liked ghost verse on this one. Beat is great. 4.5/5

Fat Lady Sings- Sounds like an interlude 3.5/5

Catalina- I had high hopes when I heard Dre was going to be on this album and he disappointed me with this song. The intro is cool the beat sounds like a recycled 50 cent song and to make it worst he gets someone to sing a terrible chorus. Very mainstream sounding song 3/5

We will rob you- Great song! Good verses from all. Good to hear from Slick Rick. Lovin GZA's verse. Beat is nice. 4/5

About me- Good verse by Rae. I cant get into Busta's flow though. Something isn't right about this song. 3.5/5

Mean Streets- The beat is alright. I liked Raes, INS, and Ghost verse on this. 4/5

Kiss the Ring- Catchy beat. Does get a little repetitive. Nice verse by INS & Masta Killa 4/5

Overall I felt like this album lived up to the hype that was surrounding it. You could tell time was put into it and the outcome was great. Rae shines on this album with lyrics with insane metaphors about blow. Ghostface was great as usual damn the man can talk. Another performer that surprised me was INS. He brought some really good verses on the songs that he was on. I dont think it topped Linx 1 but it a whole lot better than Immobilarity and Lex Diamond Story. I feel like this album will grow on me just like how linx part 1 did. A thing thats missing is U-God his verse on Knowledge God on Pt.1 killed it. Where part 2? Wheres the Nas collaboration. Would also think there would be a lot more production by the RZA. All and all probably the best release of '09. Hopefully there was a lot of material that was recorded and another album would be released by the end of the year :lol1: 4/5

Ghost gets 6th man of the year for this album. All of his verses on this album were fire and also entertaining. His flow and voice were on point as usual.

Black Mozart is fire. Rza prodcution, he did his thing.

lef, whats your rating overall?

I have to give this a 4/5. I think its just too consistent and flows too smoothly to give it anything under a 4. It was a solid effort and Rae did his thing lyrically.

Decent Album...better than BP 3???

I only say that because I expect excellence from Jay-Z..

Best beat and track is Return of The North Star. The intro is fire to me, like a scene from a movie.

Ho-hum with this album right now. Waiting for the album to grow on me with time like classics are supposed to.

1. Return of the North Star- nice little intro that uses the same beat found at the end of the original album. Perfect way to start off part 2. 5/5
2. House of Flying Daggers- great production by J-Dilla. Beat has a cinematic sound to it. Inspectah Deck, Ghost and Meth all do a great job. 5/5
3. Sonny's Missing- Didn't recognize this as a Pete Rock sounding beat to me but Rae weaves a great story on this one with his lyrics. 4.5/5
4. Pyrex Vision- Nice smooth beat by Marley Marl and Rae's rap fits it perfectly. It's short but it's kind of like Rae is visualizing and verbalizing a memory. 5/5
5. Cold Outside- I usually don't like a lot of singing on rap songs but I didn't mind this because the guy singing has a gritty sound and captures angst and pain in his voice. The singing sets the tone perfectly for Rae and Ghost to rap some real harsh/hard life type lyrics. Ghost's lyrics are good I've always liked the emotion in his voice and it's on display on this song 4.5/5
6. Black Mozart- A energetic and hardhitting beat by the Rza. Great contrast to the previous song. Another outstanding appearance by Inspectah Deck. Chorus is a drug dealer's mantra "you betta get that money no matta what you do" 5/5
7. Gihad- Rae and Ghost trade tales on this one. Pretty basic beat. Never heard of the producer (Necro) 4/5
8. New Wu- Classic Rza beat. Rae is solid. Meth sticks to the chorus where he is at his best (think "Ice Cream") other than a little solo at the end. Ghost steals the show with his lyrics "Laying *****s like ceramic tile, I'm like Urlacher, beasting at the top of the pile, Kneein' *****s in the nuts, *****, damn I'm foul"... 5/5
9. Penitentiary- Really good beat. Kind of like a "urgent time is running out type of beat". Ghost and Rae again trade good lyrics from the perspective of being locked up in prison. They really go back and forth on this one. 5/5
10. Baggin Crack- I know I keep saying it but another great beat, this time by producer Erick Sermon. Only Rae on this one and he rips it nice. 5/5
11. Surgical Gloves- This is the best track on the album to me. Alchemist provides an outstanding beat and Rae once again is solo dropping jewels. I just love the sound of this track. The beat is kind of hypnotizing. 5/5
12. Broken Safety- Uptempo beat that allows Jadakiss and Rae to shine. Styles P does ok but I would of rather heard the GZA finish this one off. 4/5
13. Canal Street- Ominous, dark beat. Not one of the best tracks but not bad either. 3.5/5
14. Ason Jones- Heartfelt tribute to Old Dirty Bastard. Another good beat by the late J-Dilla. I feel it does have a place on this album (although I would have put it at the end as a bonus track). Dirty lived a wild life and it's a poignant reminder (on this album about the street life) of what that type of lifestyle can lead to. 3.5/5
15. Have Mercy- I love Beanie Sigel's opening lyrics and Blue Rasperry does a good soulful job of singing on this one. She conveys the title of the track nicely in her singing. 4/5
16. 10 Bricks- More good production by J-Dilla. Very exotic beat. One of the albums best tracks. Rae and Cappadonna are good on this one but Ghost once again steals the show. He says "Cuban Linx dynasty has emerged" and he's right, this album is another banger just like the original. 5/5
17. Fat Lady Sings- Produced by the RZA. Fittingly the track has a lady wailing on it. Rae tells another story, this time about an altercation. Brief song but most fights are... 3.5/5
18. Catalina- Ok beat. Produced by Dr. Dre but has a "La Rhumba" (a song by the Rza) type sound to me. I agree with others who say it's the most commercial sounding song on this album. Lyfe Jennings singing on the chorus. My wife liked this song (she could imagine dancing to it) but it was one of the weaker ones to me. 3/5
19. We Will Rob You- Slick Rick on the chorus. GZA makes an appearance as does Masta Killa. Not really a standout song to me. With a title like that I expected more. 3/5
20. About Me- Dr. Dre's second and thankfully his last contribution. Not a terrible song but both of his tracks are two of the weakest ones on it to me. Beat is ok (repetitive with a piano coming in and out) and Busta Rhymes has an uncredited verse on this track. 2.5/5
21. Mean Streets- Another cinematic theme song type beat. Sounds like the same guy who sang on track 5 (Cold Outside) singing this chorus. Inspectah Deck follows Rae who raps 1st and Ghost closes with some raw lyrics. He says "I'm kind of off cause my guns is dirty". He's the last to rap on more than a few songs for good reason, he knows how to close the show. 4/5
22. Kiss the Ring- A light, braggadocio outro to end on. Inspectah Deck and Masta Killa basically talk about toasting the best who done it (Wu-tang). They come on some "Wu-tang it's our thing kiss the ring" ... and equate the "Wu-Familia" to La Costra Nostra like they've done on other albums. 3.5/5

This is a great album. By naming it the sequel to his 1st album (a classic) Rae had to deliver the goods with this one and he did. Even with all the different production work the album has a really cohesive sound and follows it's intended theme very well (with the exception of the Dr. Dre contributions IMO). It really didn't take me back to the original (1995 has come and gone) or try to emulate it to me. It's an updated version that shines in a new way. I really wasn't expecting it to be this good. None of the songs was too long or dragged on and on. The way they flowed into one another was great. Rae hasn't put out a multitude of studio albums like someone like a Jay-Z but his best two (this one and the original) are better than any albums Jay-Z has ever done.
