While removing tape from Oscar's left hand, his trainer creates a cut that requires 11 stitches. Will this affect Oscar? I don't think it should be that much of a problem.

i havent checked out the link but how the f*ck can ya cut someone so bad they need 11 stitches just by removing bandages/hand wraps

well this is as good as the pacman sock fiasco or the wladimir water bottle and vaseline rub

if one fan uses it as a reason dlh lost (if he loses) im gonna write my biggest abuse post to date...it will be big if youve seen my lenghty religious debates

It could pose somewhat of a problem because it is in the palm area.

Lets hope something doesn't go wrong with it during the fight causing a early stoppage.

that article is full of ****.....dlh ran from trinidad for 5 rds not 3....

he threw the fight away although i still think dlh won it

dlh took the 1st 7 rds imo but they easily could of given one rd to felix..if they did then that and the 5rds he took at the end would of given him enough to win..well thats another debate....

well if the trainer actually sliced dlh sounds even more similar to wlad klits vaseline rub

Is this an prefight excuse for a loss? Opinions?

It could happen and it obviously did happen. I don't think they would make this up. On ESPN News they said it was only reported because Delahoya took a shot to numb it and it could of showed up in the urine test and there could be a possible disqualification if he wins.

sounds like it...i dont think dlh will use any excuses but who knows

tracylee once said "lets hope its not the dreaded draw"

Yeah, I was just watching ESPNews and saw about the news. They even have Tarver on the show. I guess they already have an excuse if DLH lose.

Uhh this is pretty major! WTF!!!

Well at least he is not cut on top.. cus then ur hurting it all night.

I think it will bother him a little bit when he grips, but it wont be a big issue when his punches.

I could never have believed this would happen in two lifetimes, but I agree with you slim! How on God's lovely earth can anyone hurt himself so bad by simply having his hand unwrapped?! If DLH can be cut so easily so badly by a handwrap, how can he survive the fists (even if gloved) of The Executioner?! Be that as it may, that issue will be grist for the new mill. We've lost our old threads, we all can start raving and ranting over this in the new! Hurray for lame excuses!

Oscar is a warrior and doesn't have a track record of making excuses, so I don't expect him to do that tonight. I doubt very much if he could beat Hopkins with concrete hands.

 What was a trainer doing with a blade while unwrapping his fighters hands??? If he had to use a blade, hadn't he heard of scissors??? Amid the excitement and chaos of many championship post-fight scenes atop rings throughout the decades, I've never heard, much less, seen a fighter getting nicked, much less cut badly, while his trainer was taking off handwraps! How can one cut a figher's palm with a pair of scissors?! It would be tough even if one tried! What did they say made the cut?

http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/bo...tory?id=1883757All moot and academic now, ain't it? De la Hoya's hand, cut or not, by whatever, whoever, whenever, however and "whyever", had nothing to do with the way the fight ended. T'was Hopkins' hand...er,fists that had everything to do with it.
