Former WBU super-featherweight champion Kevin Lear has been ruled out of a proposed comeback on Friday after being struck down by a bout of ‘flu.
Lear, who hasn’t fought since September 2002, had been hoping to get himself back into the domestic mix with possible fights against Alex Arthur and Michael Gomez being mooted.
But his injury jinx struck again.
After being initially ruled out of action with a bad shoulder injury, Lear has been poised to return to the ring on a number of occasions until his luck has deserted him.
A comeback last year was put on hold when he broke a finger playing football with his children, and now a flu epidemic that has swept through Johnny Eames’ TKO gym has ruled him out.
Some guys just have no luck at all, I remember Richard Williams was always ill as well
