Iron Stig 08-19-2009, 06:21 AM Everything he said about Shamrock is correct. I cant stand mediocre fighters who think they are the best, Shamrock is a prime example of that. Bisping is a close second.

Frank Shamrock is a 5 times UFC champ and proved himself beating guys like Tito Ortiz, Enson Inoue or Kohsaka.
He's over the hill and washed up but had a prime. Bisping is in his prime and his biggest win is a robbery against mid-level Matt Hamill. He managed to get outstruck by a one dimensional wrestler. Bisping has always been a fraud, Frank was good in the past.
Phenomkidd 08-19-2009, 08:58 AM Frank Shamrock is a legend and a cool guy, his brother Ken is another story. Frank Shamrock was one of the earliest complete fighters in the MMA game, as shown by his dominance.
That being said, Jake Shields was getting destroyed by Robbie Lawler, you can tell his cluelessness about what to do as far as for the stand up. Give Robbie a rematch and I'll bet you he'd destroy him, if losses by submission again then he isn't training hard enough to avoid em.

Frank Shamrock was champ when the competition was much worse compared to todays standards. The only worthy fighter he beat is Tito Ortiz, and Tito is not even a Top 10 fighter in his own weightclass. Enson Inoue and Kohsaka are the definition of a "can". I believe Bisping would have no trouble in beating these two. I also believe Bisping would beat a prime Frank Shamrock. What does Shamrock bring to the table. He has mediocre stand up at best, mediocre wrestling, good submissions and positioning of his back. If you analyze his skillset as a whole he is nothing special really. Guys like Nathan Marquard, Damian Maia, Hendo, Silva etc would beat him easy.
Phenomkidd 08-19-2009, 11:38 AM He was an innovator in his own right, being among the first to bring a complete game, you can't take that away from him. Bisping wouldn't touch Frank Shamrock. Nathan Marquardt vs Prime Shamrock would be a good fight. Demian Maia would get demolished if Frank kept it standing, he is one of the most overrated fights IMO, very one-dimensional. Hendo and Silva are elite fighters, no shame in losing to either.
Nodogoshi 08-19-2009, 02:32 PM Jake's got a point imo.

I agree that he was the first prototype of an actual well rounded MMA fighter. But many of his skill facets are overrated if you compare it with what we consider well rounded nowdays. I feel that his stand up is nothing special. He looked good against Baroni, mainly because Baroni is a very bad boxer himself. He got completely demolished against Cung Lee and Nick Diaz. His takedown defense aint great either, he got taken down by Tito over and over. I think If Maia would take the fight to the ground, which in no doubt he will, he would work Frank rather quickly. Maia doesn't have the explosive takedowns the wrestlers do but he gets the fight to the ground when he wants to. Marquard is a terrible match up for Frank, IMO he is similar to Frank accept he does everything better.
