The difference now is that Gatti's in the position to call his own shots. That's when you see how much of a warrior a guy really is. Does he fight the best like Pacman or does he hand pick these second tier guys. People always say that he's about to fight Floyd. So. He was suppose to fight Floyd a year ago. Instead he faught a retired Dorin. Then HBO let's him fight Leja. What has Leja done to deserve that fight. Just because he beat a prospect who hadnt faught no one prior. Do you guys remember when Floyd was going to fight Leja and HBO jumped in and said "Hell No. Were not going to let you fight these washed up hasbeens. Dont try to get over on us". I remember a reporter writing how dare does HBO say that when Floyd has fought some of the best in boxing. But now it's ok for Gatti to fight him. Then he would still try to sneak a Spadafora fight in if Paul wasnt in trouble. I wouldnt even be surprised if this guy tried to make Roy Jones type demands at the negotiating table so this fight cant happened. It doesnt make you a warrior because you had a trilogy with Mickey Ward, or because you've had alot of blood baths with second rate opponents. If Floyd or KT had a trilogh with Ward and blood baths against those opponents we would say they were Garbage. Now he gives interviews and talks **** like he's the best fighter in the world. I remember seeing this guy get crushed by Manfredy, and then Floyd KO Manfredy in the second round. This guy is a fraud and the saddest part is alot of people bought it

Its a tough call, i agree with what you say but if it was me i'd be looking for the easy money at this stage, Gatti taken a lot of beatings and i think he's setting up a retirement fund. Cant really blame him but its not that great to watch.

Dont get me wrong guy's, I really like Gatti, and I really think he's everything you want in a fighter, but sometimes I think the fans just get carried away a littile

He's career will be short lived if he fights the top fighters. I agree with your point here, but from Gatti management's standpoint, they need to be picky.

Yeah, I can't imagine him fighting someone like Tszyu...everyone seems to think it would be a close fight, but Gatti wouldn't be able to handle it. KT wouldn't make it so easy for Gatti to hit him with a body shot like he caught Dorin with. But after that fight, Gatti said he wants the big names and won't take anything less... then he's going to fight Leija??? If he wants that big money, he'll have to take on the top tier.

Leija is ranked 4 on the wbc ranking atm, and Leija is the same guy tszyu fought in his fight before last. Leija is 3-0-1 (2) since fighting Kostya.
Floyd is the #1 challenger, so as long as floyd wants it, and does not loose that fight is going to happen.

Branco was the European champion (and known on this side of the big 'lake'). And undefeated. (Took the tittle form a Franceman in france; a feat by itself). ;)

Dorin had retired prior to that fight after losing the love for the sport and not being able to make weight in the fighy before Gatti. They cancled the day before the fight after coming to the scales overweight and I think forcing him to lose his title

Dorin was overweight vs Spadafora. Lost his tittle because of it and had to pay a penalty. Directly after the disillusioned Dorin said he quit. But believe he came back to his decission within 2 weeks, after having thought about it.

And decided to fight at light welterweight from than on, which he did succesfully the fight before the gatti fight.

This guy is a fraud and the saddest part is alot of people bought it

Yeah... I love Gatti and he's been great fun to watch over the years but he's going to get beat the moment he fights a top tier opponent. Sad, but true.
