so i saw Rakewon last night.
and i hate to say it, but i found myself pretty disappointed.
i mean of course he performed enough sick tracks, mostly classic Wu material,
which was great, but he did so much talking! now i appreciate artists speaking their minds at their shows when the material in which they are discussing is relevant to their artistry, or they are speaking on an important issue, but he spent a good 10 minutes in total talking about his stupid beef with Joe Budden.
honestly, i could have jumped up on stage and grabbed that mic out of his hands and asked the audience if they gave a **** because im pretty sure that the REAL hip hop heads there were thinking the same thing i was... WHAT THE ****?!?!
i paid money to come see an increadible artist perform, NOT to hear him speak on a supid, counterproductive issue like some childish "beef" with another artist. he was acting so arrogant and saying things like, "respect your elders". the crowed was egging him on, cheering n ****. it was so negative.
it was mostly disappointing because i would hope that an artist like Raekwon, who was been around for so long and who has been such a vital part of hip hop history, would really preach the true essence of hip hop, rather than feed into the bull**** that has tainted and blurred its positive energy. its about the music, not about the publicity. the last thing an artist like raekwon needs to do is have some stupid beef to stay relevant. it was a huge let down.

don't get me wrong. im glad i went. but i really wish that he hadn't done that. and the worst of it is that he ENDED with that bull****! he started talking about it again at one point after having already talked about it enough, and then after about 2 minutes of blah blah blah he was like, alright, and that's my word. peace!! and he dipped.
WHO DOES THAT? i have never seen an artist leave an audience like that, and i have been to A LOT of shows. you owe it to your audience to leave with a banger!
anyways, that's MY word! **** it when artists don't give it everything they've got. if you think you're above your audience, then stop touring.

Well, I know of a couple people who've been to Wu shows and they said that Wu-Tang is pretty bad live, actually there are probably a lot of rap artists whose songs don't translate well when there's a huge crowd and they have to more or less scream the lyrics. But, I can't say from experience, as I've never been to a Wu show.

And, about the talking part, I've seen a video or two with him and Ghostface or GZA or someone speaking on the beef and just askin' the crowd about it and ****. Some **** like: "He gonna **** wit the Wu? How many classics he made?" and of course the crowd ate that **** up.

its not that his performance was bad. he did a great job when he was rapping. it was just all the other meaningless bull****. the crowed that eats it up is the crowed that is "killing" hip hop. people complain about it being dead, and that's why. cuz people are entertained by that stupid ****.

Damn that's a let down. Sorry to hear that Megstar. I've been to Rock the Bells twice, the first time Wu-tang headlined and the second time it was Rae and Ghost. And they performed beyond my expectations both times. They really are great performers, it's a shame he had to share his bull**** with the fans. Just perform damnit!
