I hope to upload some of the Ali-Norton fights this evening. But how many did the guy really win? Many spectators still claim that Norton won all three.

The official scores were split decision Norton, split decision Ali and Ali. But I've even seen some pro-Ali commentators (okay, nuthuggers if you will) claim he won the first one.

So what's the verdict?

Ali is one of the most popular fighters ever and his life has been dramatic, so many people see him like a God. It wouldn't surprise that this kind of bias penetrates into people's minds who think that Ali is untouchable.

I myself haven't seen those fights with Norton, but I do know they were controversial and that Norton broke Ali's jaw in one.

What I didn't know was that Ali survived that fight with a broken jaw, that's pretty impressive.

My favourite is the third. That's the only time Ali really gets into Norton's head.

IMO, Norton won every fight.

Ali won 2 out of 3. Norton was a formidable foe.

Interesting reflection. Ali lost the first for sure. I think Ali just squeezed the win in the second fight and Norton was unluckly to get the nod in the third ( it was close but Norton was denied ).
The best fight is the third. Ali is clearly past his best so he talks to Norton to try and distract him. Also, its great to see Ali dancing in the finail three rounds trying to steal and show. Significant is how Norton plays safe in the 15th round and Ali nicks the round, and as we find out, the fight!

Norton should have been given the third fight.

I've only seen an eight-round compilation of the third fight. I love the way Ali gets in his head, and for the first time, post-Zaire, he seems able to physically match Norton. I don't know what I like best... the bit where he keeps putting his glove on Norton's head or the "Harder, Kenny!" bit.

You have to remember that in those days the ref used to score the fight as well as two judges. Surely at times Ali`s gob must have influlanced the ref`s scoring of his matches, in good ways or bad ways!

I didn't get the 6-4 overall score... what was that all about?
