Thread\ Kakutogi-Gumi 08-14-2009, 01:22 AM Lampley has called Freestyle and Greco- Roman matches. /thread and poster MetalVomit 08-14-2009, 01:34 AM Lamps=GOAT gancho_al_igado 08-14-2009, 02:02 AM Are you fkn serious? Dont ever put Rogan in the same sentence with The God commentator Jim Lampley. jakkups 08-14-2009, 08:29 AM Are you serious? Rogan doesn't even qualify as a commentator. He's more of a WWE "commentator" than an actual commentator. P4PGOAT 08-14-2009, 02:32 PM Rogan is NOT a commentator. he is a hype man. - v e t - 08-14-2009, 02:35 PM Are you serious? THIS IS SO INTENSE EVEN THO THE FIGHT IS SO SLOW!!!! IM ON REDBULL AND COKE!!!" Derranged 08-14-2009, 02:44 PM Holy ****.. I blacked a little bit last night from drinking. I honestly do not remember making this thread. GroundSt.Pound 08-14-2009, 03:35 PM Unlike Lampley, PBP announcers like Joe Rogan and Bas Ruten actually train in a few forms of Martial Arts which allow them call matches more accurately than most PBP annoucers because they can relate to what's going on. Although I think Lampley is a little better than Joe. Although I think Lampley is a little better than Joe. That's what the "expert analyst" is suppose to do. The "blow by blow" guy is suppose to do most of the talking while the "expert analyst" interjects with insights on whats going on in the ring (Teddy Atlas doesn't understand this). This is the formula boxing uses at least. Then i gues Roy Jones and lennox lewis are the greatest to ever do it roujinziro 08-15-2009, 08:55 PM Lampley and Rogan both shill for their favorite fighters, but Lampley is quick to changes sides when said fighter gets "exposed." Lampley's role is more defined, he's the lead man in the 3-man booth. It's hard to say whether Rogan or Goldberg is the lead guy, I guess he qualifies more as the "color" commentator. All that being said, give Rogan another 20 years and maybe he'll approach Lampley's overall quality as a great commentator, but MMA just hasn't been around long enough for that Rogan to get that kind of experience. I'd say Rogan is the color commentator/expert analyst in one, and Goldberg is there for his voice: "And it is aaaaaawwwwwwwwllllllllllll over." Lucky Charms 08-15-2009, 11:35 PM Rogan because every time there is a black fighter he must say "he's a crazy athlete and super explosive." And for his extreme use of the term "genetic freak." Nodogoshi 08-15-2009, 11:48 PM Strikeforce has got a pretty good team, especially Frank Shamrock. Kakutogi-Gumi 08-16-2009, 02:19 AM Strikeforce has got a pretty good team, especially Frank Shamrock. Two guys who've worked in pro wrestling and Gus Johnson. I'm not being negative, I just find it amusing. Stalaggh 08-16-2009, 02:40 AM Rogan is aways biased in his fight calling and just downright obnoxious when he thinks he knows everything, Lampley by far. Strikeforce do have a credible team except that Johnson guy, he needs to go, bring Rutten back into the mix or Quadros and its PRIDE all over again Slimey Limey 08-16-2009, 10:59 AM I'd say Rogan is the color commentator/expert analyst in one, and Goldberg is there for his voice: "And it is aaaaaawwwwwwwwllllllllllll over." Goldberg from WWE? Shadow boxer 3 08-16-2009, 11:06 AM Rogan - "OH YEH LOOK AT THAT SUBMISSION ATTEMPT! THIS IS SO INTENSE EVEN THO THE FIGHT IS SO SLOW!!!! IM ON REDBULL AND COKE!!!" LMAO!!! exactly GroundSt.Pound 08-16-2009, 12:15 PM Then i gues Roy Jones and lennox lewis are the greatest to ever do it\ Not really. Not everyone has the voice and quckness of foot so to speak to be a commentator. Rogan because every time there is a black fighter he must say "he's a crazy athlete and super explosive." And for his extreme use of the term "genetic freak." I guess Georges St. Pierre, Brock Lesnar, Sean Sherk and Thiago Alves are black??? :dunno: Strikeforce has got a pretty good team, especially Frank Shamrock. God Frank sucks and you can tell he's biased in his commentary. Plus that key's to victory thing he does with the stupid animations. Dumb Gus Johnson. Man, Gus Johnson is horrible. Horrible commentator and even worse post fight interviewer, he pauses like 5 seconds in between words. Not as bad as Larry Merchant though Nodogoshi 08-16-2009, 01:46 PM God Frank sucks and you can tell he's biased in his commentary. Plus that key's to victory thing he does with the stupid animations. Dumb Lol, I was drunk so I didn't really know what I was watching/listening to. I still like the Strikeforce team better then the UFC announcers. I think him and Joe would be a great commentary duo. Unlike Goldie, Mauro isn't repetitive and dumb TheCheetah 08-16-2009, 02:01 PM Lampley all day. Well most of the guys competing are athletes. As far as them being "black" have you ever looked at Melvin Guillard, Cheick Kongo and Anthony Johnson? They look pretty ****ing athletic to me??? P4PGOAT 08-16-2009, 11:11 PM Well most of the guys competing are athletes. As far as them being "black" have you ever looked at Melvin Guillard, Cheick Kongo and Anthony Johnson? They look pretty ****ing athletic to me??? yeah most of them are athletes. just funny that whenever there is a "black" guy in there, me and my mate are always just waiting for rogan to make his athlete comments. and he rarely dissapoints. which is why i was amused to see someone else make a post about it on this thread. Dem Eyes 08-16-2009, 11:19 PM McGuigan beats them both. Nodogoshi 08-16-2009, 11:37 PM yeah most of them are athletes. just funny that whenever there is a "black" guy in there, me and my mate are always just waiting for rogan to make his athlete comments. and he rarely dissapoints. which is why i was amused to see someone else make a post about it on this thread. It seems like he says this about GSP more than anyone though I've gotta say. It almost seems as though he coined the phrase specifically for GSP (which is probably not the case though, I imagine). It almost seems as though he coined the phrase specifically for GSP (which is probably not the case though, I imagine). yeah he always calls gsp a "freakish athlete". he used to all matt hughes a genetic freak back in the day too... guess as he got older his genetics um, weakened... GroundSt.Pound 08-17-2009, 12:30 AM yeah he always calls gsp a "freakish athlete". ...and for good reason. The guy is ****ing beast Nodogoshi 08-17-2009, 12:34 AM yeah he always calls gsp a "freakish athlete". he used to all matt hughes a genetic freak back in the day too... guess as he got older his genetics um, weakened... Lol, nice rebuttal. P4PGOAT 08-17-2009, 07:35 AM ...and for good reason. The guy is ****ing beast agrreed no matter how many times i watch it, i cant take my eyes off the gif in your sig. awsome. i wonder what rogan would say about overeem. Junito-Rulez 08-17-2009, 09:47 AM Lampley is the man, Rogan doesn't know **** about boxing and is biased as hell. The Griffin-Rampage and Akiyama-Belcher were horribly broadcasted. Cuauhtémoc1502 08-17-2009, 09:53 AM rogan knows his **** (or atleast sounds like he does) I just think that the announcers and Michael Buffer's voices are terrible. In order to be a great announcer you have to have that classic voice, Rogan voice is like nails on a chalk board.....seriously. Lamply has a great voice for broadcasting and commentating but some of the things he says are just idiotic. I say fuk em both and I will stick with my boy Al Bernstein, he knows his ****. fallenloki 08-17-2009, 06:18 PM Joe Rogan doesn't know ****. He's like Jerry "The King" Lawler. Umm... Lampley is the best unless his favorite fighters are getting worked. neils7147933 08-17-2009, 06:29 PM Rogan isn't the play-by-play announcer. Rogan would be more accurately compared with a Larry Merchant, Max Kellerman, Teddy Atlas, Steve Farhood, etc. Derranged 08-17-2009, 07:15 PM This thread needs to die. I made when I was blacked out from drinking. I wouldn't a make a thread like this willingly because anyone can tell you that comparing the two is a joke, Lampley ****s on Rogan period. fallenloki 08-17-2009, 11:35 PM Rogan isn't the play-by-play announcer. Rogan would be more accurately compared with a Larry Merchant, Max Kellerman, Teddy Atlas, Steve Farhood, etc. Minus that whole knowing what they're talking about quality Liaison 08-17-2009, 11:44 PM *Fight goes to ground, crowd cheers* “Oh, listen to the crowd, they’re really smart now, our crowds rule, woooooo” Imagine Lampley screaming “the fans are smart, they realize what he’s just done” everytime Morales scored a knockdown. |
