Edwin Valero has made a good case for himself.

It's pretty bad that the only heavy mentioned so far is Sanders. It's even worse that Sanders is probably the hardest hitting heavy.

iv been awful busy at college. Still checkin back every now and again. Shame about Willy, but he was destined to die young.

So no Tyson? He's truly finished?

Talking simply power versus pound-for-pound power is completely different.

Of course a heavyweight will have more power than the lighter weight classes.

Now current top three pound for pound punchers:

Tszyu
Cotto
Pac

You guys really blew it by not listing Diego Corrales.

Punch for punch, Corrales is the HARDEST PUNCHER in the sport today.

He's a threat to take anyone out, at any time, with either hand.

Trinidad & Tszyu are better fighters, with better attacks, but Chico is a more dangerous hitter than both.

PRboxingfan
11-22-2004, 07:55 AM
1) Trinidad
1) Chico (the top two are interchangeable)
3) Tszyu
4) Cotto
5) Guzman

I believe that, p4p, Chico and Trinidad have the most power. It is hard for me to say who hits the hardest so I'm putting them as a tie at #1.

Roy was CAPABLE of being a power hitter....whenever he committed to his shots.
But, he never did it enough to make a "best of " list.

It's really what this dope said about Corrales..a "pillow puncher".
Unbelievable.

By definition, we have no punchers in boxing today. The KO artist's that we remember from the 70's and 80's don't exist in boxing today.

Take a peak at these hard hitters, these fellas could hit and hit hard.

1) Matthew Saad Muhammad

2) Michael Spinks

3) Wilfredo Gomez

4) Pipino Cuevas

I dont know if you guys have heard of a boxer out of Australia called Vic Darchinian (or something similiar). Anyways I loved watching him box, he had a distinct style, he literally stalked the opponent and hardly threw a punch, but when he did WHAM! Knockout. It was great..

Anyways apparently he recently lost a title fight where he just didnt fight the way he usually does, so I'm not sure if we'll see him again, but he was an exciting fighter to watch and definately a contender for hard punchers.

Yeah, he's 18 y/o and is getting as much stardom as Manny already. Let's wish him luck. I hear they want to bring him to the US soon though have to see how things go. So far they see him demolishing anyone in his path. Well see. :)

I think Tito is definatly one of the biggest punchers out there today. To stop Mayorga as impressively as he did proves that well and truely. Manny has that natural power too but Tito's is number one because of the power he can generate in such a short distance.

Ivansmamma
11-23-2004, 05:21 AM
vitali and tyson.

J !
11-23-2004, 05:28 AM
vitali? sorry dont agree he throws arm punches his power comes form his size and number of punchers not natural punch power.

im not saying he doesnt hit hard but he is hardly ernie shavers certinaly not the biggest puncher p4p out there, not by a country mile.

Pillow puncher.....did you see what he did to Freitas? Hell, did you see what he did to Angel Manfredy, Justin Juuko, Derrick Gainer? He is one of the hardest punchers in the sport. When he hit Freitas in the 9th, Freitas didn't just go down....he got lifted off his feet.

Tarver....GODAMN, he KO'd the man who was P4P #1 in the world. Not to mention his revenge destruction of Eric Harding.

11-23-2004, 09:54 AM
i see a lot of guys putting COTTO in their lists.

i agree he does hit hard and has superb punching technik and balance , but he weighs 154 pounds at fight night , that gives him a size advantage against most 140 pounders , and who has he KOed to prove he hits that hard ?

J !
11-23-2004, 10:13 AM
i think people get confused with one punch ko power and combination punching. Cotto clearly doesnt possess the concussive power of someone like Kostya or harris but people will put him ion there cos they see him stop an opponent. Someone put hatotn on their list, jeez that so far wide of the mark its unbelievable. Ricky has decent power but its the volume that gets to you, he will never spark anyone with one shot. Same with cotto.

we are talking one punch ko artist here, hence no vitali in my list. Guys who will take you out if they get chance and with one punch, you know kostya v judah style, or pacman v lucero!!!

not volume or combination punchers, as an example some of you are basically comparing tommy hearns to sugar ray lenoard and saying lenoard hit harder.........

There can be no doubt that Tito Trinidad is the hardest puncher in the game today.

Ask Vargas, Mayorga, Reid, Joppy, Whitaker, or even, yes, De La Hoya.

....but don't ask Hopkins.

corrales and trinidad are the biggest pfp punchers. both have good power in either hand

Argentina
11-23-2004, 11:01 PM
okay: Pacquaio is unrelentless, Freitas, Corrales, Tszyu, Cotto, Trinidad, Vitali, Wladimir, Tyson, Sanders. Sanders' speed is just incredible for such a big guy, not to mention his power. Only problem is his stamina. I just love Tszyu's straight rights, plus the way he throws them as leads.
