View Full Version : Women vs. Men in the ring
PessimisticPug 02-24-2005, 11:06 PM What is it that makes people believe that women should compete against men in the ring throwing fists. A top fighter would annialate a female fighter at the top of here game. A mediocre male fighter could probably put her down as well fairly easy. A tomato can, well, thats something that you just kick around.
If men and women are able to compete on the same level than why have they not integrated the w.n.b.a and the n.b.a. Or maybe had all-star games between the best womens players and the best male players. Why have the women not been brought into the N.H.L (I know there was a womans goalie, but i am not certain that she played in the N.H.L). we all know why, because they wouldnt be there for long. And yes i know that a woman played with the men on the p.g.a.
So whats different about the ring, about pitting a woman against a man in fistic combat. There actually is a huge difference between boxing and almost every sport out there. In boxing the main purpose is to dispose of your opponent, with your fists, until that fighter is no longer able to continue.
I am talking damage here, that is a big part of boxing. These women would be maimed and dropped hard by any good male fighter.
I am not a he-man woman hater here, I am just speaking the truth. If women have not become a part of mens leagues in other sports than why should it be in boxing, a sport that is more dangerous and damaging. The difference is that Basketball, Hockey, Golf and all of the other sports are games. Boxing is the furthest thing from a game that you get. It is a straight out fight and if these promoters can not see that then we will just have to wait until one of these women is severly injured by a male fighter. maybe then they will understand........Rockin'
jack_the_rippuh 02-24-2005, 11:11 PM I think any male fighter, the same weight (who actually trains and fights other males) as a female fighter would destroy her in a fight..
.::|ULTIMATE|::. 02-24-2005, 11:11 PM That's not new man. Of course women are generally weaker than man thats just human nature.
Much like how Lions are the strongest than lionesses. Or how in Hyenas (dont know how to spell it) the Females are bigger and stronger than the males.
Just the way life is, thats all.
Slipx 02-24-2005, 11:12 PM I full heartedly agree, and this **** will stop when a woman slumps over on the canvas and gets put in a coma from a punch behind the ear. and the guy that does it is gonna be marked for life.
could you imagine like a heavyweight woman vs a true heavyweight contender? ****, frank bruno's hooks measured up to around .63 ton, thats too much for a female to take
its like football, they have those rare occassional female QB's or etc, but i tell you, defensive/offensive lineman weighing 250-300-350lb and squatting upwards of 620 lb, no female could take the punishment that kind of athlete is capable of dishing out, it's just equal rights bull****, it's all a big show until someone gets hurt.
jack_the_rippuh 02-24-2005, 11:14 PM I not really in to women's boxing, because I don't know what channels show it, but are the rules in that sport any different?
Slipx 02-24-2005, 11:21 PM I not really in to women's boxing, because I don't know what channels show it, but are the rules in that sport any different?
Well the only bouts I've seen were from them being on the undercard of a scheduled main event, usually a ****ty main event to begin with.
First of all, female fighters are paid 1/2 as much as male fighters.
Second, they aren't given accomodations when they arrive someplace, ie hotel, etc. Christy martin said all this on the last In The Corner. (seems like a good woman, sorta weird for her to **** her trainer but i guess it worked)
Third, most people don't really want to see female boxing.she actually went as far as to say it was coming to an end altogether..
anyway the female boxing usually comes on fox sports net, sometimes MSG network, and theres another fight channel I forgot about..
but ya, I've always felt that a female didn't belong in the ring, just like back in the day they never had female gladiators, they simply don't belong in combat like that, and it isn't anything about equal rights.i believe women should have all the rights a man has, but they should be cherished for their reproductive abilities, not thrown into a ring to fight for their lives...i guess some girls like it..but I gotta say, I wouldnt mind having a GF who was a fighter, as long as she looks like that woman that was in the studio with brian last FNF..Ryker I think is her last name,a hotty..w/ my luck she's probably a hardcore lesbian feminist and hates guys..;P

2 minute rounds for one thing...
PessimisticPug 02-24-2005, 11:55 PM I talked with Lucia down at kronk when she was working there. She is a beautifull woman. I liked her with her hair up as it was when she was at the gym. She is very pretty, she can fight, she is intelligent and she has class. Sounds like the perfect girl to me.
One thing, I have nothing against women boxing. I just think that most of them should get back to the amatuers or stay in the amatuers until the can fight like a pro. Lucia has spent her time learning and it definately shows. I am only against pitting women vs men in the ring, that all.........Rockin'

whats up rockin
do you know latanya king from the kronk she's like a 14 year old girl at the kronk, and emmanuel steward was sayin in a interview how womens boxing is hella violent n it's just brawling, he says this girl is like Ali and she is diff from all the other women, do you know her by any chance?
PessimisticPug 02-25-2005, 12:13 AM ive judged and reffed a fight with Latonya. She is the real thing. That girl boxes, moves her head...... its funny, she has found the rythme of the fight were it seems all of these other girls are just clueless. Emmanual is going to do the right things with her I am sure. He will see that she gets a solid amatuer boxing background and then maybe they will go pro with it, I am not sure of her intentions with the sport. But I am sure of one thing, she is one girl that can fight.......Rockin'

ya, that's cool man
hey i had one question for you
Do you believe in being born with natural talent or you have to work for it?
PessimisticPug 02-25-2005, 12:33 AM thats a good one. there are so many thing that go into being a great fighter. There is some natural ability involved but it seems to me that unless a good trainer, who knows the ins and outs, gets with that person it could go to waste. After all, I dont know of one fighter that came to his first session of training that knew how to throw a proper right hand, a proper jab or had the ability to block and parry blows. Its all taught in the gym. Theres another part, of so many, that fits in the equation, heart. You could be the most naturally gifted athlete and have had the purest training and if you dont have the heart to fight it out when it gets tough than that fighter will not succeed. There are so many things that go into it but i think it comes down to how bad you want it. First in the gym with hard training and then in the ring with hard fighting......Rockin'
buff_mike10 02-25-2005, 12:47 AM First thing that came to my mind when i saw this thread was a fight between Mike Tyson and Vanessa Washington. Tyson's revenge
marvelous_TG 02-25-2005, 09:33 AM rijker was/is considerd best p4p female boxer, she ones fought a man unranked same weightdivision, worse than an tomato can, and she got KO'd brutally in the second round. and there ones was a test the best sport to compete man vs woman was golf and the worst was boxing. i mean it's like your mom and dad fighting even if she trained it ain't gonna happen.
i know one of the williams sister ones tennist against a 300 ranked male and the male won easily. but no in boxing, it ain't gonna happen. first physical the woman are small boned, thin necked, high fat percentage low levels of testosterone, thin neck, woman can't take a shot. and mentally killerinstinct all those things are missing but seriously how are we even discussing this subject it's just bull****.

I hear Thomas Hearns was not even close to talented
and that he wasnt born with the devastating power
n that he never start knocking people out till pros

same as trinidad but they had the power but didn't know how to use it properly because if you could LEARN to punch like a tyson or george foreman chris byrd would be the undisputed champion, but fact is you can't learn that's why you have hard and soft punchers.
AintGottaClue 02-25-2005, 09:43 AM i havent seen a women boxer punch another women in the boobs before
puppy_dogg 02-25-2005, 09:49 AM i havent seen a women boxer punch another women in the boobs before
ive seen them kick each other in the chest, kickboxing matches.
id like to know what some of the women on this site think about this situation. do you think its a good idea? do you think its fair? and how do you think women would fair against men in the ring?

no it's not a good idea if the woman wants to have kids later in her life.
Super_Lightweight 02-25-2005, 11:12 AM The only thing some people have a problem with is arm-chair, potato chip-eatin' muther ****ers who are arrogant and think they can beat a beast of a woman like Ann Wolfe or Lucia Rijker just because they are men.
In boxing, hitting hardest doesn't make you the best neccessarily. Women CAN fight with men on OCCASION, and they should if they want to make money.
There is nothing wrong with what Ann Wolfe is doing. It gets her publicity, it gets her money, and it gets her respect.
Anyone who thinks Wolfe hasn't sparred with men and that she would match herself vs a man she knows will kick her ass is a complete fool. These promoters are not dumb and they won't match up females vs men who can whoop them easily.
You people sometimes act like when a female fights a men it's going to start some irreversible trend of women fighting men who are bigger and better than them, which is just not true.

my man, i already said the matched lucia rijker vs a thai man unranked and he KO'd her out cold in the second rounds so it has happend and it went terribly wrong. and lucia was and maybe still is considerd best P4p lady in the bizz. so that are the facts deal with them. the best woman got beat by an unknown and unranked thai man, inside 2 rounds by KTFO cold.

nice post marvelous, very informative.only thing i dont agree with is the thin neck theory,foreman/hagler's neck is tiny and he took some BRUTAL shots w/o being wobbled
and also rockin' that was a nice post a few posts back, i never knew she trained at kronk...good info bud, and yeah, she is a classy hotty for sure
Super_Lightweight 02-25-2005, 12:06 PM What is your point? I said women can compete and beat men, in some scenarios, and it has happened.
One example of Rijker getting beat doesn't refute what I said. Especially the part about fat, potato-chip eatin' mofos who think they can beat big ass Ann Wolfe.
Right.

bigdlb12 02-25-2005, 12:25 PM I remember something on TV once where a radio DJ was dissing on women, one caller called and ask him to fight her in the ring, about 20 something women showed up to fight the guy and they let them in one by one, the DJ was a skinny looking Dude and some of these women were big and some built and that guy beat the SH!+ out of every single one of them

jack_the_rippuh 02-25-2005, 03:11 PM If or when that fight ever does happen with Ann Wolfe fighting a man...I'll be the first one to bet all my points against her..
m00ks 02-25-2005, 03:29 PM Girls do NOT belong in the ring with guys. I don't care how strong a broad you claim to be you'll get hurt if you get in with a man your weight.
Kid Achilles 02-25-2005, 03:46 PM First off, the "unranked muay thai" fighter was the New Zealand Muay Thai champion. You refer to him as "less than a tomato can" and leave out the fact that he had a belt.
No one is doubting that a world class champion male is going to have a good chance of KOing even a larger female boxer.
What I'm talking about is the average male with little to no boxing experience thinking he would stand a chance with a fighter of Wolfe's caliber. As if somehow his gender alone would negate a mammoth disadvantage in skill and talent. People who say **** like that are living with their heads up their asses. Wolfe would KO any of the people on this board with no boxing experience, just as a good pro featherweight would. The discrepency in strength, if it did exist, (and Wolfe is a good deal stronger than the average male) would never even come into play.
PessimisticPug 02-25-2005, 07:12 PM what i was getting at with the original post is that these promoters are playing with fire. The bad part of it is is that if something does go horribly wrong in one of these male/female bouts the promoter is maybe disturbed about it, but he will promote again. Unfortunately, tha fenale fighter may never fight again, or even breathe much longer because of the mistake.
It is a mistake to do this. One woman will come up and get all of the HYPE and then the general public will start buying into this B.S HYPE and the woman will be put in over her head. When will it end? When somebody dies.
If the N.H.L, N.B.A, M.L.B, N.F.L havent done it than why should boxing. Boxing does it because of loose and varying regulations from state to state. Because the promoter is able to go out and put on these side show attractions, in hopes of earning the big bucks. If his girl continues to win the public over, they might begin wanting to see her against stiffer competition. And let me tell you, alot of promoters might go for the buck even if its a bad decision. Alot of them wont though, there are good people out there.
Just stop this side show **** before it turns into something that does our sport irreversable harm. Its already comical in a way that they are matching a girl against a guy, but I dont think its good for our sport. Its only going to lead to tragedy......Rockin'
