I have to go with Dre personally. He's been apart of and had his hand in so much music. I wouldn't be mad if someone went with Premo though.

Based on songs, you gotta admire what Premier & Pete Rock did in the 90s. The revolutionized the Hip Hop sound at the time and both produced classic ENTIRE albums.

I don't try putting one over the other, but my list is as follows in no order:

I vote for Dre, he's been a top prodcuer for 20 years. Nomatter how the sound changes he manages to hold on to his legendary producer status

Premo, Pete Rock, Rza and Dre are the four obvious names.

They may not be certain folks personal favourites, but it's hard to disagree that these four have produced the greatest hip hop tracks.

and lastly, one of the things that i think is so appealing about Timbo is that he continues to release these ILL mainstream bangers! it's like he knows of the massive favor that he is doing for us. i sooo appreciate turning on the radio and hearing something that actually pleases my ear! it's brilliant that he can appeal today's mainstream audience with LEGIT beats! it is rare that the mainstream welcomes beats of high quality and Timbaland continues to drop some crazy beats with such a unique flavor. (of course, there have been some whack ones, but we're not discussing the negative right now...) you KNOW a Tibaland beat when you hear it and it was never just a phase. he's THAT good. again, he's not my favorite, but he deserves mad love and recognition. and ima end this long ass post with some more recent Timbo bangers.
