Charles Tanner, the 25 - 0 -0 undefeated 26yr old heavyweight will take on former heavyweight champion and tough journeyman Mike `Iron` Tyson. The 40yr old Tyson, 52 - 8 - 2Nc (45) claims with a win he could seek a fight with a top 15 heavyweight and hope to secure a payday to help pay his out of control debts.
Tanner believes a win over the youngest champ in heavyweight history means little but he would like the experience of facing a man his family used to talk about as the baddest man on the planet. Tanner hopes to fight long reigning heavyweight king Vitaili Klitscko later this year! The purses are said to be $300,000 for Tyson and $150,000 for Tanner!

2007? WTF, Tyson would have a cane by then, didn;t Tyson retire after the leg injury during his fight with Danny Williams?

Actually, even though Kimmy was having a cheeky joke about Tyson being a "journeyman", is he on the way of becoming one now? Serious question.

Thank God for Anorak, everyone else thought i was being serious! I was mocking Tyson, showing you all an image of the future, of a shot and disillusioned man selling his name and past glories to make 300 grand!
I think Tyson became a journey the moment he failed to beat the ten count against Williams!

What??? Nah, i searched Boxrec for an undefeated fighter with under 20 fights, found this 19 - 0 Tanner guy, added 6 wins to his record and messed around with Tyson`s record a bit and added two years to now!
Since hearing this about this fight being in the works...fluke, but ok i`ll find enough up and coming heavyweight and post a simular mock up!

What, the WHOLE THING was a gag? :) I just meant the "journeyman" bit.

Take Julius Francis. Yeah, he was never going to be a world beater, but he was British and Commonwealth champ a few years back. Now you can see him most weeks on Eurosport, fighting some 6-fight Italian fighter you've never seen of, widely regarded as a "stepping stone". His job is to give other boxers experience.

Danny Williams used him as a meal ticket, knowing that he could beat him... will there come a time when Tyson is widely regarded as a career stepping stone, and regards himself as one? Let's face it, he'll never beat Vitali, will he?

he is almost at that level. One more loss and he will be at the same status as Bonecrusher Smith and Witherspoon and the like who always headlined those old Tuesday Night Fight shows

I wonder how long it will be before OUR expectations drop so that we regard him as that, too?

I can't see him beating hardly any of the heavyweight champs now... Brewster, perhaps, maybe Byrd. But I could well envisage Ruiz's hit-and-hold tactics having an effect (going by the formula that Tyson + three rounds = knackered), and Vitali would kill him.
