Morales uses herbs, acupuncture to get ready for Pacquiao

WHILE Manny Pacquiao is using Thai sticks in his training, former three-division world champion Erik Morales has resorted to alternative medicine in his bid to attain the best shape possible for the March 19 showdown against the Filipino lefty at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Morales and his team, based at the high-altitude Otomi Mountains in Mexico, underwent an alternative medicine session yesterday under Korean doctor Jon Min Ki, who is an expert in acupuncture, chiropraction, aromatherapy and masotherapy.

"There is no better medicine than the one produced by the human body," explained Dr. Ki to BoxLatino. Ki was accompanied to Morales' lairs by Erik's uncle Guillermo Morales and Nicolas Bravo.

"The purpose is to avoid diseases and resist annoyances caused by fatigue, product of the physical wearing down to which Morales is exposed in his daily training," Ki added.

The Korean doctor applied on Morales a treatment derived from Mogxa, a plant which originates in South Korea and serves to eliminate organic toxins.

I posted this thread in the Lounge because I don't want to dwell in the Pac-Morales fight itself, which is overwhelmingly abundant everywhere else in this forum. I wanted to discuss about what some people call "ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE" whicvh includes herbals, acupuncture, aromatheraphy, siatsu and similar stuff.

Do you believe in them? Have you actually tried any of them? And do you think it will aid Morales in his fight with Pacman?

I think its interesting that Morales is resorting to this alternative type of treatment before this fight. What this tells me is that Morales thinks he needs a little something extra in this fight.

As far as the healing powers of Eastern medicine, Im not sure if its all bull**** or what.
I once saw this show where they had 2 people with cancer try this one dudes methods of healing. He was from China or India or something, but he said that he guaranteed these people to be healed if the followed his plan. Well, they follwed his plan and they didnt get better. I dont remember if they died or what, but thet treatment didnt help them.

I know through experience that herbal medicines work I have used as lot of them for a long time now, like aloe vera and garlic, and I can vouch for their effectiveness.

I also had some sessions with acupuncture and it did help. I also tried siatsu and acupressure (like massage) for muscle pains and it worked. I think the effectiveness depends on the kind and the practitioner's qualifications.

We're no longer talking of boxing here. We're talking about alternative medicines. And it just so happen that one famous guy who uses it is Morales.

Good luck, amigo! Er, don't worry, the needle pricks are surprisingly not painful, like you don't feel anything at all!

it aint accupuncture
but have u guys seen dat thing where they light candles in cups
then blow them out
while on speciifc parts f the body
well it creates some sort of suction that supposdely helps to relieve pressure
ive heard its better then accuncture and far less dangerous

Accupuncture works. When I first got to New Zealand I didn't have much money but I lived near a small chinatown. I had this awful back ache from the plane ride, so I went to see a old chinese dude who did accupuncture. He stuck needles at the top of my head and my knees. He had me lie down for 30 minutes, it actually worked. Cost 50 NZ dollars.
