The Vikings have agreed to trade Randy Moss to the Oakland Raiders for starting linebacker Napoleon Harris, the seventh overall pick in the upcoming draft and a 2005 late-round pick . Trades can be worked out although not announced until next month, and Moss' agent, Dante DiTrapano, told the Pioneer Press on Wednesday that the deal is done.
"Nothing is official until March 2," DiTrapano said. "But don’t be surprised if Randy Moss is wearing the Silver and Black this upcoming season."
Vikings vice president of football operations Rob Brzezinski would only say, "We've had some discussions with them (the Raiders), but there is nothing to announce."
Despite repeated denials, the Vikings have been shopping Moss for months, and they found a willing suitor in Al Davis, a maverick owner who embraces controversial players.
"In speaking with Moss, although he has a lot of ties to Minnesota and did not particularly want to be traded, he’s very excited with the possibility of playing for Al Davis and being a part of the Raider tradition," DiTrapano said. "The Raiders have vowed to use Randy’s talents the way they should be used, and that’s to throw the ball vertically down the field.
"Randy’s desire to win a Super Bowl is enhanced with a move to a team like the Raiders, because the Minnesota Vikings seem to be in a constant rebuilding mode."
The Vikings will wind up with the seventh overall pick for the third time in the last four years. In 2002, they drafted left tackle Bryant McKinnie, a starter. Two years ago, they had the seventh pick but a botched trade with Baltimore resulted in them picking two spots later. Still, they landed the player they coveted, defensive tackle Kevin Williams, who has emerged into a Pro Bowl player.
The Vikings have the 18th pick in this year’s draft.
With the departure of Moss, the Vikings' top receiver is third-year receiver Nate Burleson. But the Vikings are expected to bolster that group via the draft or free agency. With a weak free agent class headlined by Pittsburgh's Plaxico Burress, the Vikings’ options could increase with potential salary cap casualties such as Isaac Bruce, Muhsin Muhammad and Derrick Mason.
The NFL Draft in April also offers two promising players, Michigan's Braylon Edwards and Southern Cal's Mike Williams.
Harris was selected by the Raiders with the 23rd pick in the 2002 NFL Draft, and he has recorded 249 tackles, 2.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and five passes defended over the past three seasons. He is 6-foot-2, 255 pounds, and he can play inside and outside.
The Raiders will assume Moss’ $7.25 million base salary for next season while the Vikings realize a cap savings of nearly $2 million. Four seasons remain on Moss’ eight-year $75 million contract.
QueenCity 02-23-2005, 05:30 PM Moss needed to get out of Minnesota bad, Oakland seems like a good fit for him.
marvdave 02-23-2005, 05:42 PM perfect..just another reason for me to hate Moss
Silver and Crap is a perfect fit for him.
Soundtraveler 02-23-2005, 05:43 PM Moss is a jerk, if he plays that "I'm out for me and screw the team" crap that he pulled on the Vikings you can bet the Raider players will ***** slap him out of the locker room....
m00ks 02-23-2005, 05:46 PM Baltimore should have fished him. they need an A reciever

jpboxer3 02-23-2005, 05:50 PM It's funny because Jerry Porter said he wanted out of Oakland all of last season and all of the sudden he re-signs.Next thing ya know Randy Moss is headed to Oakland,WTF?!I had high hopes that one of the two would consider going to Jacksonville damnit.I hope we atleast get Jacksonville native WR Lavernues Coles.

joeboxer 02-23-2005, 06:04 PM With Moss and Porter any quarter back would die to go to Oakland. Hopefully they get someone better than Kerry the drunk Collins. And Ricky William should totally want to come to Oakland now, with recievers like Moss and Porter he would almost never need to run.
dodge 02-23-2005, 06:04 PM HAHA Perfect place for him.

Explosivo 02-23-2005, 06:29 PM Another ******* to go along with an ******* owner, ******* players, and ******* fans. Moss is a perfect fit for the Raiders.
To bad those morons got the trade done right after resigning their #1 receiver Porter. They should have left porter walk if they were going to get Moss.
Even though they have their #1 and #2 receiver in place now they still dont have anyone who can throw to them.
the giant one 02-23-2005, 06:38 PM They also have Ronald Curry. Plus they are trying to get Lamont Jordan in free agency. I thought they would have traded Phillip Buchanon befor Napoleon Harris though

Yea, i heard rumors on Buchanan too.
oldgringo 02-23-2005, 08:00 PM Yea, i heard rumors on Buchanan too.
Buchanan's weak...he's not enough to merit a trade. And injury prone.
The Fix 02-23-2005, 08:02 PM doesnt matter if they add terrel owens and tory holt cause kerry collins is going to be throwing them the ball. :D they need a qb bad if they want to win, collins wont do **** for them he can barely complete passes. maybe oakland will draft that qb out of utah...alex smith i believe is his name

iam sure :D i didnt really follow college football this season but ive heard this guy is a solid qb. same goes for that guy from cal.. i cant remember his name eitther
Atwa_66 02-23-2005, 08:39 PM Kerry Collins is a big Problem in Oakland right now. Instead of getting 3 halfbacks we need to get us a new quarterback. When we still had Rich Gannon, we had Marquis Tuisipiao to back him up. In between seasons the Raiders dropped him, and he was a young good quarterback. Now we have Tyrone Wheatley, Justin Fargas, and Amos Zereque as halfbacks. We need to get a decent quarterback, But I am happy to have Moss in Oakland! 2005 Season is going to be insane, Sapp on defense, Moss and Porter on offense, we are coming back to the super bowl this seaons

they wont even make the playoffs nevermind the superbowl. that team needs help and sapp has gone down the ****ter, he is far past his prime and i dont see him improving upon last years season
joeboxer 02-23-2005, 08:52 PM The Raiders do need a new qb, which they will soon. Somebody has got to want to throw to these guys. 3 great recievers. No other team has got a better reciving core.
The Raiders will not make it to the super bowl with Kerry Collins or Rich Gannon, and even if they did, they would lose, on ESPNs Super Bowl qb ratings Gannon and Collins were like 78 and 80 out of the 80 qb's to have played in a super bowl.
That being said the Raiders lost a lot of really close games last year and were not as bad as their record. I have 20 bucks that says they can make it to the the first round of the playoffs.

good point. Kerry Collins sux i personally know this because i'm a giants fan (i know they suck) and he used to be our QB. COllins has the record for most fumbled snaps in one season. 23---> mind you also that we didn't make the playoffs that year so he did that all in 16 games. wat a great F*CKING QB.....NOT!!! :boxing:
joeboxer 02-23-2005, 09:41 PM people at your stadium used to yell "have another drink collins" at him back when he had an alchol problem is what i heard.
Dr.Depravity 02-23-2005, 09:45 PM Damn it! The broncos sure didnt need that.
joeboxer 02-25-2005, 05:07 PM Damn it! The broncos sure didnt need that.
The bronco's didn't need that.
This is a list of things they do need.
Testicles
Hotter Cheerleaders
Cups so that they can protect testicles (when they get them) from the snow and the raiders and games in the snow with the raiders.
A better Coach
A new name
A new city
All new players
And relocation to Canada
And team enema, oh wait they already got those, in their snow game with the raiders
xrhythmxnxbluesx 02-25-2005, 05:40 PM i'm from the bay area... and a raiders fan.. hopefully we do better next season with porter and moss on our squad now... raider nation fuk the rest... nah mean...

....I could see people wanting Moss but Ricky Williams is big, weak hearted, ***** IMO. **** him and his girly manerisms.

...O.K. wake up you are dreaming pretty hard and must have fallen asleep. No way the Raiders make any waves this upcoming season. Sorry, but I just don't see them doing jack. In fact, Sapp may just be a cap casualty this year. Watch for Moss to be injured for a good part of the season and have little to no impact. Sorry to piss on your cornflakes brother. :)
phallus 02-25-2005, 07:54 PM i just have one question, how the hell does Moss get all that hair under his helmet?

we'll juss see about that... but fo reals though we do need a new qb... gannon is too old and collin suks...
sc21A 04-10-2005, 10:21 AM I don't know how this is gonna play out for both teams it's obviously gonna help Oakland, but for MInneosta they still get some great receivers and since they are trying to help out their D I think they will be ok, but it's still gonna be tough after getting rid of your best WR.
Boxerdog 04-10-2005, 01:52 PM Gosh.....I remember saying that Moss would be dealt in the off-season and one of the forum's sports "perfessers" saying that I was crazy....there was NO WAY that Moss was going anywhere!
:p

Wow, they blow one game, and they need all that? They have one of the best coaches in the league. 8-2 in the playoffs, and two rings. Last year was the first year that they were out before the second round with him. He's a damn good coach.
The Raiders won't do **** this year, because all they have is a bunch of *******s who are more worried about themselves than the team. No QB WANTS to be on a team with Moss, because if he doesn't get the ball he whines, and if he does, the other guys whine, because they are all a bunch of ******* cry-babies.
Chargers should take the division this year, and the Broncos will be in second. Kansas sucks, and the Raiders aren't going to do ****.
Also, Collins isn't that bad. When looking at his superbowl rankings you have to remember he played the #1 defense of all time, statistically speaking. No QB, not even Montana, would have looked good that game. He was a lot better before he got his jaw shattered, too.

He was also better before he was a ****ing alchoholic.
And any QB should love Moss. Colepepper knew Moss had to go but he loved him. Those guys were friends and they still are. So you are wrong. Terrel Owens is a ***** too but do you think Donvan is like "I can't play with this guy" hell no. Good recivers are always *****in, even Jerry Rice who was a used-to-be good reciever *****ed alot last year. Good teams just deal with it.
And also about the Broncos. Don't try to argue about the Broncos with a Raiders fan. Rationality has no place here. **** the Broncos. They suck.
