aka reruns. And I saw this one dude Karo Parysian. This guy is a Judo specialist. He was pulling some pretty cool take downs on his BJJ opponent in his UFC debut. Anyone know anything about him?

Yeah, he's pretty talented. But he was suspended for having a minimal amount of painkillers in his blood back in January. He might have been fine if he had mentioned it to the doctor, but he either chose not to, or forgot to do so.

he actually told one of the commissioners during the weigh ins the commisioner said it would be ok if he had prescription for it. he was taking a couple different kinds but didn't have prescriptions for all of em but either way it wouldn't have mattered because after testing it was revealed that you can't use them at all apparently even if you have a presciption.

On that same card some person had to debut again Nick Diaz. Talk about sacrificing...

3 banned painkillers.... he got what he deserved. He cheated a damn good WW prospect.

he's still young enough to get back in contention, but i think his best days are behind him.

he always looked kinda soft for 170, maybe he drops to 155 eventually

Karo is one of those fighters who overhypes and self promotes himself as someone who should be looked upon as a threat. Fact is he has always been overrated and has got by on Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg overplaying his judo skills to the point where it got old before it even got going. The guy has awful hands with no power, and has stopped one guy in the last 5 years. Pretty pathetic for a guy who is called "the heat". Also he makes excuses for losing because he can't get over the fact that he actually sucks and knowone cares for him.

He's the Zab Judah of MMA.

That's unfair to Zab. Zab actually had success and was truly talented and successful. Karo is more like Emanuel Augustus with the attitude of Zab.

:lol1: Harsh. Truth hurts. Which fight was it where he got his tooth knocked out? Wasn't it against Sanchez or Diaz? I want to say Sanchez..?

It wasnt his tooth, i forgot the name of it but for sure it wasn't a tooth. Back in the day Karo was great, his fights against Diaz and sanchez are classics. He looked gun shy against Kim after Alves knocked him out.

your making karo out to be alot worse than he actually is. he holds wins over shonie carter, nick diaz, chris lyle, matt serra, nick thompson, drew fickett, burkman and chonan.

that's a good resume of wins right there, and in his prime karo was a very good fighter on his day, but just never could get the belt!

Other than Thompson all of those went to decision and weren't exactly dominant performances. Out of all of those Serra and Diaz are the only wins worth anything, and in both of those fights he didn't look amazing, I even thought that he lost the fight to Matt and just about got by Diaz. The rest of the guys on there are tough guys, but not what I would call top flight competition by any stretch.

According to Karo it was a veneer he had put in the week before.

You really thought he lost to Serra?! He got dropped in like the first 20 seconds then dominated the fight, took his back, mounted him, ground n pound, takedowns etc I think your underrating him a lot, he just needs to train harder.

Sorry, I got the Diaz and Serra ones mixed up, but either way, those are his two most impressive wins and they weren't even impressive.

I don't think I'm underrating him at all. He has never been a finisher and relys on a fast pace rather than skills to get by. But even if he tires out an opponent he can never seem to finish them. When you match him up against the UFC fighters available that he hasn't faced I'd take Fitch, Condit, Kampmann, Swick, Hardy, even new boy Wilks over him any day of the week and as for the rest of the division I think he would struggle against the majority of them. He still relies on the same skills of Judo and lying on top of guys just dong enough to keep the fight grounded without actually going for the finish. His standup isn't anything special and no power whatsoever, and he seems to get worse with every outing. Training hard isn't the thing which is holding him back, a lack of serious improvement as a fighter is the problem. Hell, you look at GSP's first fight in the UFC against Karo and compare both guys and how they have improved since those days, there is no question that Karo is no different a fighter than he was when he first got into the UFC whereas GSP is head and shoulders above everyone in his division. This is proven by the fact that he can't finish guys who you should be finishing if you're looking to be taken as a serious contender to the GSP throne, whereas GSP finishes and dominates far better competition than Karo has ever faced.

Karo is like BJ Penn. He has a lot of natural talent and is very skilled, but he doesn't apply himself or train like he wants to be the best.
