Yeah a close friend of mines family is friends with the Mustaine family, and he's been over to my house before. So none of us are really are too big into Metallica for how they went about that whole thing and for they've become. Though I do like ...And Justice For All the most by them.

Metallica's past few albums have just been embarrassing. And yeah I have the new Megadeth. Its not as good as the classics, but then again its pretty darn good considering Dave called it quits and then decided to make yet another comeback.

I'm actually rooting against Metallica now. I'm sick of their over inflated ego and **** that they pass for music. When I listen to their old stuff and they listen to crap like St. Anger, its like I'm listening to a whole different band.

I thought Megadeth was going in that direction with Risk, god that album ****ing sucked. But Dave has made a great attempt to get back to his true metal roots and I respect him much more for that.

True, but to some metal fans I think its worse. Metallica were metal immortals back in the day.

However they still put on kick-ass concerts, their pretty much a live band now.

and their live shows still kick severe ass. i always credit metallica as being the first band to perfect the attitude of punk with the melodies of metal. hammet was a perfect replacment for mustaine.

all this Metallica bashing sounds like the old "sold-out" routine..kind of like I hear from hispanic boxing fans about Oscar. I'm not a huge Metallica fan, but I don't understand why alot of people are down on them. They made it big and brought more attention to Metal/Hard rock. I say more power to them. Alomost reeks of jealousy when other bands whack them.

I don't follow their situation closly, so maybe I'm missing something. Maybe someone can explain to me what they have done that is so bad?..thanks

yeah you gotta point there. i guess early gnr but definetely not the illusion albums. the moment you start throwin in harmonicas and pianos in every song then it starts becoming rock n' roll.

I don't know who you are talking about, but here's what they did to Mustaine. So one day, in New York, they wake him up and tell him he's got to go back to San Francisco. Dave was drunk, so he really didn't know what was going on. Dave says,"So you've got a plane for me?" They hand Dave a bus ticket. They made him take a bus all the way back to SanFrancisco. I'll bet he had quite a bit to think about on that long ride. That firing was an event that caused tension between Metallica and Dave for a long time. After that they stole a bunch of songs from him which he told them that they could not use. Just look in the booklet for any Metallica album and see Dave's name next to songs. In most of them you can basically hear the difference in a lot of the songs that they sound more like Megadeth than Metallica without even looking, but here are some of the songs that he was involved in writing by album:

Kill em All: The Four Horsemen (worst case of stealing), Jump in the Fire, Phantom Lord, and Metal Militia

Ride the Lightning: Ride the Lightning and The Call of Ktulu
