View Full Version : Some of you old heads have an agenda
Nate126 08-03-2009, 01:25 PM Against the so called "new generation" of music.
So peep game. I'm on another large forum, RealGM Knicks Forum and there is always hip hop discussion on that forum. There are lot of old heads intertwined with a lot of younger cats such as myself.
It seems like every hip hop thread is about blaming this "new generation" for today's hip hop music, whatever that means. Why can't some of you old heads just accept that the standards you want to hold up to today's music will not match that of Eric B and Rakim, KRS-ONE, Slick Rick, etc.
And also it's not every young cat loves Soulja Boy and that snap chit. I know you miss your 80s and 90s music but is it necessary to remind everyone of what the past was like every thread? It's like a death in the family, sometimes you have to forget but those CDs of them are like photographs you can always play when you want to listen to it but don't blame the "new generation" because some artists today just rap about money, cash and hoes.
sisforshaq 08-03-2009, 02:07 PM I agree i said.

Yo, that new **** on the radio sucks.
Lean On Me 08-05-2009, 03:38 AM lol at accepting mediocrity.
But that was to be expected when "being real" took precedence over having actual talent.
If thats what floats your boat,
so be it.
Just don't expect people who have heard actual skills to accept it.

Who said I don't listen to newer acts? Blu & Exile good enough for you?
I agree, times do change,
but in changing times, things are supposed to progress, not regress.
This era has regressed, badly.
and just so you'll understand, I'm speaking from a mainstream standpoint.
Its not just Hiphop though, its music in general and you'll find the same sentiments in many genres of music.
Too much emphasis is placed on the business aspect rather than the artistry.
sisforshaq 08-05-2009, 02:21 PM Your lucky we are both Vikings fans.
But I do agree with you to a point, but I also think their is a fantastic array of artists in any genre that are still out there.
MegStarr* 08-05-2009, 08:01 PM there's lots of good hip hop out there
we just have dig for it a bit a little harder than the previous generation.
when i hear people whine, that is always my argument.
MARKBNLV 08-05-2009, 09:50 PM this generation sucks rap has gotten a lot worsemid to late 90s was what it was all about

What is your argument exactly against though?
That people have to dig a bit deeper than the mainstream?
Thats not much of an argument as to why this generation is not up to par.
Frank Martin 08-07-2009, 05:50 AM Early 2000's were decent until the mid of the decade. This generation is getting worse. But I dont give a f*ck about radio these days. I just listen to this generation pure talents - the underground. As long as good underground music exist, I'll say these era will satisfy me somehow.
TheCheetah 08-07-2009, 08:12 AM I don't listen to the radio. Too much whack ass Soulja Boy. The radio loves to play love songs all day long as well. Do us a favor sometime and play some 2pac or something.
Frank Martin 08-07-2009, 08:21 AM Forget 2pac. He aint comin from the dead. I want to hear AOTP, Jedi Minds and other underground **** in the radio.
